Great video and appreciate your passion and knowledge. I started getting into watches in the 90s and also value their cleaner, smaller and thinner designs. I’m now collecting more from that period up to 2005 and pleased to see they’re being appreciated now.

David, T4YC. I held a 2006 Submariner at auction recently, and I was shocked at how basic it felt. I think it had been round the clock a few times, and the bracelet was very wobbly. But it really didn't make me feel anything other than worry. I think Omega has shown their class, as their 60's watches still feel solid.

Love your content. You know your stuff really well and not just presenting material to flood the algos or ride the recent watch craze. Would love it if you can cover Vacheron. What modern watch(es) would you consider good value for money? Could you suggest some modern/neo-vintage watches at different budget levels?

Great video David, I did not realize that about the second hand on the Lange, that is absolutely amazing 👍🏻

Cracking video David and I am with you all the way regarding the Submariner. I have always felt that the maxi case looks totaly out of proportion . Sneaking into your neo vintage is my Omega Seamaster 2254.50. It slips under the cuff and no blingy ceramic bezel , perfection. The modern version isn't in the same league in my opinion. Slipping just below your neo vintage window is my oldest wrist watch a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1500 from 1965 , understated and tells me what the time is !! and gets a helluva lot of wrist time.

I like the vintage-inspired design, I just have a hard time with the size. My height and build really lends itself to larger watches, lest they look "dainty" on me. Agree on the zero reset being a very cool feature. I haven't stepped up to Lange yet, but several of my Panerai have this (all based around the p. 20xx movement). I really enjoy seeing the second hand jump to the "60" each time I set the watch. More brands should incorporate this useful touch. Speaking of Panerai and a more vintage aesthetic, maybe that is part of the appeal for me. I have some of the mid to late-2000's Panerai in my collection and they very much have a vintage feel. Some of my favorites in the collection for sure!

David, thanking you for sharing your knowledge and why you love 1970-2000 Rolexes. They are beautiful and built by true craftsman. As the craftsman from this period retire, I am wondering if Rolex can not find enough craftsman to replace them and keep up producing over 1 million watches. If so, then the watches made during this period will be more appreciated.

To your point about packaging, Breitling is the absolute worst offender with their new “eco friendly” box. It’s an absolute joke for a “luxury brand” to deliver a $6-20k watch in that box, and the worst part is that they do it under thr guise of being eco friendly.

No one is buying watches. The market is dead 💀
@WatchesOnWood5 ай бұрын
For anyone reading the comment above for the 100th time and believing it, know this, I too believed it. So I set about selling some watches I've bought over the last three years from an authorised dealer. Not "investment watches" (I.e. not rolex, not patek). I sold all 4 in less than a week and after ebay fees made a good profit on each one. I then reflected on these dealers working in a supposedly "dead market". They look like they are doing alright for themselves and I'm yet to see David selling big issues. I think the market is doing OK. Don't believe the negative hype. It ain't January 2022, but the market is just fine. Take care people

I think the watch market is neither dead nor booming, it's somewhere in the middle. Prices of "Hype Watches" have tanked as predicted by many, but people are still trading watches and the market is far from dead - the prices have dropped but profit margins remain.
