In this video renowned thinker Huston Smith offers the powerful story of his spiritual journey through life. he speaks with passion and humor about his upbringing, the inspiring and colorful individuals he has known, the the wisdom he has gained from the myriad religions and philosophical traditions he has encountered.
Filmed at the 2004 Science and Consciousness in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Smith also holds forth on the state of the world religion and religious leadership, and the vital importance of the transcendent message of religion for the post 9/11 world. His view is that life is rich with purpose, value, and transcendental meaning; that, when it comes down to it, that's just the way things are.
Originally produced and distributed by the Hartley Film Foundation. Special thanks to Kendra Smith.

I think he mistook being enlightened & being good, in his last words of the video. An enlightened being "knows his place in relation to God" & receives the fullness of the benefits connected to that, while the goodness of anybody can ultimately only be something a God can judge. Great video.

Mr Huston Smith had his mind quite limited. Didn't look at things with curiosity. Only standard frames. Sad.

I find your perspective surprising. Can you share what you mean by 'standard frames'? I've always felt Huston looked through a variety of frames, some of them distinctly unique.

@@charlesscott7748 The perspective shouldn't surprise you, Christians get bashed for being Christians all the time, especially by "enlightened" hypocrites.

@@gordo3582 Except these "enlightened" individuals don't consider themselves enlightened. You put that label on them.
