I respect WCW to at least be self-aware enough to know their product was lousy. So many businesses wouldn't even try this.

Although, on the other hand, with the way the ratings where going they didn't exactly have a lot of options, like Nitro very likely would have been cancelled around this time had Ted Turner not personally been a big fan.

I remember being 16 and watching this episode, and thinking: this is actually pretty exciting. Finally the younger talent can get some time in the spotlight. Of course that excitement gradually diminished over the following weeks.

People forget, because of the Reign of Terror, that Trips was incredible at making jobbers and midcarders look incredible when he was properly motivated. A few years after this, he was having excellent matches with Maven and then Shelton on Heat, and he seemed like he was doing it for the right reasons. And, yes, people genuinely forget (or don't know) that there is an incredible Trips v Maven match in the archives. And it happened while Maven was still greener than the rainforest.

At its heart: the new blood Vs. Millionaires club IN THEORY is not a terrible idea But you don’t make Vince Russo your face manager. Within literally a week fans were already like “wait we hate that guy” so the entire reason you’re doing this becomes flipped on its head and the storyline becomes “how dare these young upstarts think they deserve a place in the main event” Which is the exact problem you were trying to fix in the first place

Like someone else said, New Blood were designed to be the heels, but I’m with you in that it made no sense to me to make them the heels. Like he said for the RAW side, the money is in the baby face chasing the title. Except WCW could have had half their roster chasing not only titles, but also fighting for their positions in the company, while the old guard could have used their veteran heel tactics to keep them down.

An important rule about corporations in general: If you work as a head corporation that sucks, DONT let your clientele know that you also think the corporation sucks. Instead, subtly move and evolve the corporation so that it slowly drifts away from sucking. When you hit them with a big reboot or revamp, you put too much pomp and circumstance that whatever is new is instantly going to be “good”, leading to the chance for the rebooted version of the corporation to be disappointing. …anywhoo, please welcome to the story Vince Russo!

This is like the thousandth comment I seen on these videos about Jeff Jarrett being top dog at WCW. We get it. People dislike Jeff Jarrett. And he wasn't a main event guy. But most of WCWs roster was injured. He was better than most of the roster they had. And any wrestler in that situation wouldn't have turned that company around.

@@HoshizakiYoshimasa Sting, DDP, Hogan, Luger, Bagwell, Booker T, Sid... They had guys who could carry the mantle. No reason whatsoever to be pushing Jarrett and the Harris brothers going into this reboot, and no reason for Jarrett to be the top guy starting it. Jarrett was lower on the card in WWF than Booker was in WCW.

Nobody does it better than you my friend!! Excellent job the way you put the presentation together every time! Much appreciated from a still broken hearted WCW/nWo fan!! I was at Finger Poke of Doom Jan 4 ‘99 Georgia Dome, back July 5 ‘99 with Megadeath after show and GA Dome wasn’t even half the crowd 6 months earlier. Why tf do you have Bret come back in Atlanta?? But anyway thank you again !!

Gotta love the Eric decided to reference Sid stabbing Arn Anderson with scissor in the early 90s. Like who was going to get that reference in 2000? That line is what feels like, to me, whenever wrestlers try to be meta. Like cool, nice inside reference bro, but you John Doe ain't gonna get it, stop pandering to smarks.

The worst thing they did here was have Bischoff shake Russo's hand and join forces with him. It should have been Bischoff and his main event guys against Russo and his new blood. It could have been a great rivalry and it looked like it was going to happen when Bischoff came out and cut Russo off. Instead he joined Russo because SWERVE!!!!
