@@janproshopchannel could you do a video explaining what they mean by the ball reading the front and middle of the lane? My understanding is the ball skid, hook, and roll. Another question is, why do bowlers lift the ball to skip the front? Also, I think it would be fun if you did a video mainly on spare shots. I mean epic spare shots like, a wash out, 7 - 10 splits, or splits that can be challenging to get. I think getting splits are more epic than strikes.

Just got my ball recently and have been trying to hook by closing my fingers and just turning my wrist. Searched everywhere, watched every video on how to properly hook and always thought I didnt have enough strength as I was going from a 12lb house ball to my current 14lb one. I learnt that my hand had to be both cupped/behind the ball till the point of release and my swing still be loose. It is until i found this amazing video that I finally understand. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Finally, a tutorial on understanding the mechanics of the body to demonstrate this release. Many others talk about yoyo release and swings separately, and they all keep saying don't use your muscles... but they don't get into actual visual detail like this. Well done, and thank you! I think maybe consider changing your title to a "How to" kind of tutorial. When I was searching for swing/release tutorials, I didn't see this at all. It wasn't until it just eventually popped up when I was looking for bowling ball comparison videos. This deserves a lot more attention.

この動画は私にとって最高のリリースの説明です!両手ボウリングの場合は、肘は自然に曲がります、だから慣性の手伝いは必要ありません。 私は自分のボウリングでこのテクニックを使います。 この動画を作ってくれてありがとうございます! This is the best video explanation I have ever seen about the bowling release! In the case of two handed bowling, the elbow is already naturally curved. So there is no need for inertia to help you curve your elbow. I will use the technique from your video in my own bowling. This approach is far more natural and agreeable to the body, the body's inertia during all phases of the approach, and it's also a timing and release approach that's clearly attuned to the basic laws of physics. Relaxation in most sports is paramount. Consider how pro-level Tour de France peloton riders never, ever hold the bars tightly when descending the Alps at speeds of 80pmh and more. This is brilliant--simply brilliant, and masterfully coached, as well--thank you so much!!!

Wow, wish I'd seen this before I bowled today. A recent video of yours, about when to release the thumb was a bit confusing, so I had to skip it. This video just makes sense, and is easy to follow. Subscribing. Can't wait to try this. I like videos that don't show multiple things to change in one. Bad habits are hard to break, and dealing with 3 or 4 at a time is a bit much. This video is perfect, especially when you're at the lanes, dealing with hyperactive kids running across your approach, and creeping past you as you release the ball.😅

Just get a strong piece that matches your game. Get your metrics measured and ask for a recommendation on a ball from a company you like and let the ball do the work for you. 300-400 revs isn’t bad at all. I’ve had wrist surgery with resulting tendinitis and arthritis in my right arm and have no problem getting enough revs to play competitively with the right ball for the oil pattern. Best of luck and enjoy bowling.

Work on the soft release onto the lane instead of wrist manipulation. It is very easy to do that. Every time that the ball is lofted out and comes crashing down, you lose rotation and accuracy. When the bowler allows the thumb and fingers to exit easily, the ball quietly begins to get onto the lane surface with great rotation and predictable results.

Wow Ive been trying to figure the yoyo motion out for so long and was trapped in the pendulum swing mindset, so no stopping in the swing at all. When I watched this vid and it told me to stop my swing at release I was like nah that can't be how it's done cause obviously kills the momentum, but when I thought more about it, if your shoulder stops but your elbow is relaxed the ball is basically still swinging in that moment, and that's when I think it clicked for me. When I stop my shoulder at release, the momentum will still carry the ball forward but it will also help your wrist get under the ball, if the motion is fast enough, the ball speed won't be decreasing a lot and you can get a lot more revs without using your own strength to force your hand behind the ball, making it a more relaxed swing as a whole. Before this I was thinking the way to do it is the pendulum of was only until the release, and at the release you have to use strength to get under the ball, but was wasn't necessary at all. So thanks for the video, this helped solve a problem that I've had for years.

Interesting tutorial. I would say that the cupping of the ball doesn't come slowing the downswing so much as allowing gravity to pull the ball down and making it easier to get under the ball. The release should be more like rolling the ball off your hand vs the jerky motion.

Need an uncup and break wrist at release because thumb can exit smoothly and it is the key to high rev. You will find rev goes up a lot if you follow through with an uncupped wrist after the ball has left.

But they never told me how to make a cupped wrist without the strenght of the wrist. Now I realized that the way you explained in this video was the answer. Can I ask you one more question? Some people recommended me to use a lighter ball for practicing new release to prevent injuries, but the others recommend me to use 14-15lb balls. Can you share me a opinion about that? Would it helpful to buy a new lighter ball(12lb ball) to practice new release(lowdown) to prevent injuries?

I doubt because the weight of the ball gives natural inertia in swing, which actually helps with your relax cupping. Make sure thumb hole is tight enough.

Thanks for sharing this video. I was frustrated last outing when I found myself just throwing the ball down-lane and not feeling my fingers do anything to the ball. It just felt like I was throwing it straight and the ball had no reaction. After watching your video, it makes sense to me now. I had a 14lb ball which I found was too heavy for me to lift and downsized to 12lb Vibe atomic. My son is a two-handed bowler and I can see how he makes axis rotation which is simpler to achieve. My challenge is to get my steps correct, kick out the left foot, reaching out and releasing with the hand and fingers in the proper place and out in time. Thumb out first is the challenge and then fingers but I will try your technique along with all the other muscle groups proper in motion.

@@ThePokersurfer it depends on what motion he’s trying to create. If your goal is forward roll then you would tuck your index finger in with your middle finger and spread your pinky a bit for an example

It is by inertia of swinging a belt that lifts up the ball, there is no force applied by wrist at all, so the term “cupping the ball” is not involved.

A very, very hard thing to do and very painful and damaging if not done exactly perfectly. I know many bowlers who have messed up their wrists trying to do this "modern" release.

Thanks for this! After 20 years of bowling, I increased my rev rate substantially! But now I'm rev dominant. How can I add more speed? I feel since I'm "stopping" my arm in the downswing to allow for the bent elbow and wrist, it slows down my ball speed. Anyone have any suggestions?
