When my grandfather died, he left me a set of brass knuckles. I wish I knew more about him.

Reggie Kray was also known for his cigarette punch. He'd offer his target a cigarette, and at the moment the victim was lighting it he'd strike them on the jaw, knowing full well that the jaw at that moment would be fully relaxed and easily broken.

Loved the movie with Tom Hardy. And a very informative video, Tommy, as usual. Maybe next one about the weapons of the Peaky Blinders and similar gangs of the time?

Both brass knuckles, saps and blackjacks were used by police. Cosh (and brass knuckles) was used by the SOE; I have no education as to if the British police were ever issued them. Police methods went from hitting the head, to hitting knees/elbows, to hitting large muscle groups (primarily the thigh). Illegal in Canada, but the way brass knuckles work is to transfer the force from the relative fragile knuckles (why boxers wear wraps and gloves) to the much more forgiving palm. Great video. Imagine a marlin spike just behind the clavicle, it would be like a handle.

I'm crazy about the Marlin Spike folder because it reminds me of the OSS Pitchfork tine, which is one of my favorite tools to make.

Learn from the bad guy's to be better good guy's. My favorite so far was your mill wall brick/kubaton. You folded it up for edc. Came from the punks adopted for protectors.

Yeah. That was very interesting. Much of different kinds of foldings to make newspaper or some smaller paper to an impact weapon. My favourite is the easy one. Open it, roll it and fold it 😊

Surprised you didn’t include the bladed weapon of terror, prolific during that era I believe; the razor. Very concealable, terrifying and you could, arguably, provide a justification for possession if questioned by the authorities

I seen an auction of Kray Memorabilia online and in some London Auction house, and as well as weapons like here, there was a catapult, a sawnoff 12 gauge, and a crossbow, as well as a cigarette case and wallet, old Brit money included, possibly one with a knuckleduster combination

Thank you Tommy very interesting indeed. I never knew that brass knuckles were issued to folks in WW I & WW II. Makes sense , light , easy to carry and would be a nasty surprise for an enemy. Happy new year and keep on palm striking.

I enjoyed this! Interesting that lawmakers always blame the instrument, as if making the tool illegal will stop violence. The criminal doesn't obey the law anyway. It's like blaming the car for the car accident, not the drunk driver.

Luckily I live in TEXAS, everything is legal here, guns, knives, slapjacks, blackjacks and knuckle dusters. Great video.

Brass knuckles weren't illegal till the fifties I think it was. My grandads are locked away in a display cabinet along with his rubber home guard baton.

11:23 it is not a 'social taboo' it is a mechanism to control you - if you are barred from possessing and carrying arms of any sort you are not free, you are subjects who have no means of defending yourselves from any bad actors civilian or governmental

We can defend ourselves. we just need to understand the ways of improvised weaponry.

Nice! Was the second bayonet Hackman&Co made? I have similar one that my grandfather brought back from WW2.

I was in GB several years ago. The average Brit cannot carry even a knife. Their overlords have reduced them to serfdom. They lack even the right to defend themselves against a stronger attacker. Pitiful.
@canadafree20874 ай бұрын
And now their Bobbies are going after large knives with a new law. So knives such as you might take camping. The country is a joke when they went after "Zombie blades". Zombies don't exist; can you imagine having a law against Klingon Disruptors or Dalek Toilet Plungers and still expect the voters to take you seriously?

Completely wrong. Quite offensive. You need to research your facts before making blanket, ill-informed, statements like that.
