Those gas grenades were far worse then a shotty, the gas stayed almost liquid like on your clothing until you got into a trench bunk full of warm bodies, then the liquid on the cloths turned to gas with the heat. @MacDaddyDev8 жыл бұрын
It's obviously not going to feel like BF4 since it's running on the latest Frostbite engine. I don't know about weapons, but DICE has confirmed that tanks will all have a different feel to them (each and *every* tank in the game) so I'm pretty sure just about every weapon will have its own feeling. They've had almost 3 years to work on the game. I'm sure it's going to live up to its potential.

The reason why some guns have their magazines on top is because there was a lot of belief, that if you put a magazine under it, it has a chance of falling therefore wasting your ammo. Just like the M1 Grand, it has its ammo fed on top, but poops it out after the last.

Maybe those will just be attachments along with the iconic "snailmag".

Most gas was delivered by canisters in front of the trenches, they would use the wind to carry it. (As you can guess, not the best) Later gas was delivered by artillery shells. Gas grenades were seldom used, because the soldier throwing it risked being exposed too.

It's going to be bolt-action rifles for absolutely everyone, along with M1897 shotguns, Webley revolvers, Colt/Mauser pistols and stationary machine guns that take 2 people to drag around. And trench knives. And sword bayonets, lots and lots of sword bayonets. The war was pretty much over by the time semi-auto or full-auto rifles were actually issued to infantry soldiers. If there are SMGs in the game, it has to take place less than a few weeks before the end of hostilities in 1918.

All I could think about the entire video was "That's not how you load a Garand at all.", because if the clip is properly loaded, you can't just remove your hand and push the charging handle forward, it goes forward itself once the block is properly seated and thus Garand thumb, which is why people would put their hand against the charging handle while loading in a clip.

Just a heads up the Browning M2 50. cal machine gun was first used in WWI and is still in use as the standard vehicle mounted machine gun of the US military today almost completely unchanged. The Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR was also first introduced in WWI but only in small testing numbers but didn't get adopted by the US military and see wide spread use until WWII.

The German anti tank rifle was used to blow off tracks, or to bust the rivets in the armor to shred the people inside. That's why during ww1 people had leather face masks with chain male armor to protect them selfs. Once the mrk4 and mrk5 tanks where made the anti tank rifle had a hard time penetrating the armor

i've visited the major battlefields of world war 1 in Belgium and France and when driving on the road we went past the brooding soldier memorial which is put close to where the Germans first used chemical warfare on the western front, also seeing all the graves belonging to the soldiers is staggering, i went past a set of graves all of the soldiers where from the same regiment and died the same day, the graves where close together and the reason for this is because they didn't know who's body parts belonged to who.

Honestly once the BF1 trailer hit and I thought about it I was surprised we hadn't seen a big budget WW1 themed shooter, or at least to my mortal memory. WW1 was a weird war, modern war and the Napoleonic/colonial age met. Bolt action rifles, revolvers, the birth of SMGs, the birth of the tank alongside cavalry (complete with spears/lances and/or swords), swords and clubs. The variety it offered the shooter sandbox is kinda crazy.

apart from the weapons in the trailer I think it will also include stuff like the Chauchat, BAR, Lebel rifle, Mannlicher rifle and webley revolver. British engineers working in tunnels carried an improvised, sawn-off Lee-Enfield. It would be really cool to see that in the game, much like the Mare's leg in bf4.

Very nice video Jack! I'm a ww1 and ww2 firearms and militaria collector and I would say your research was spot on! Have you ever thought of shooting and getting to understand what weapons of this era were like? You should try coming down to the National Shooting centre in Bisley, England and have a go! Its great fun I assure you :)

dont forget body armor, in the trailer they had knight looking men mowing down a bunch of soldiers. i can see class base characters already just from mentioning these weapons but i got a feeling alot will be repurposed like snipers or recon will be the main focus on solder while heavy gunners will be more of a support class.

The trench gun also had the capability to let the user hold down the trigger and the weapon would shoot as fast as they could work the pump

you miss the scene were Italian soldiers were getting mow down by an machine gunner.... I think they were carrying the Moschetto da Cavalleria Mod. 91 (Carcano M38 cavalry carbine) 6.5×52mm carbine with integral folding bayonet, adopted in 1893 in a 17.7 inch barrel.

"Bayonets and melee weapons were used as a last resort" Jack if only you knew. Believe it or not in WW1 on the western front melee weapons were actually preferred to firearms for many engagements. One unit in particular took this to the extreme. The infamous German Stosstrupen was known in many cases to go into battle armed with clubs, knives, and an ungodly amount of stick grenades.

it never ceases to amaze me just how little gamers know their history. Especially when it comes to games set in their favorite historical time periods, as well as the weapons used during those times. It's good to know Jack did some research before the game came out. "Tell the world of Paschendale".

+Nickallsopp92 Well, WW1 isnt really a scenario that is often used by the game industry simply because it isnt as well known (and documented for that matter) as ww2 is.

ForgottenWeapons and C&Rsenal are good channels if you want to see the actual guns. Ian and Ottias do a good job explaining history, use and how they work.

Vicker and Maxim are both water cooled and not very portable. I would say they would be permanent weapon emplacements found throughout the map. They could take a less historically accurate rout and modify them to be portable.

BF1 Suggestion for the M1897: Holding the trigger from the shotgun allows to slam fire, an actual ability of this firearm... It'd be really useful in the trenches.

For anyone interested in learning more about WW1 I'd recommend downloading Dan Carlin's "Blueprint for Armageddon" series from his Hardcore History podcast. I finished it a few months ago and have been hugely interested in the time period since. I'm super hyped for Battlefield 1.

I own a 1911, I love it!!!! Real easy to use and simple, plus the 3 safety features really makes it a safe handgun to carry. I bought one because I spend a lot of time driving, I carry the 1911 while driving because it reaches out more accurately then my compact 9mm from smith & Wesson. Downside, it only has 8-9 shots.

you can also see what looks to be an early carcano Italian rifle. but it has more of a Mauser action, it seems like the model was just rendered for the trailer. but that could be in as well
