I just wanna say, this webtoon is not really well received in South Korea. There are criticisms about the art style looking like cheap knock off chinese comics or male insert esque comics (apprently there has been an increase in such styles ever since China has been having more input in Kakao's webtoon service) and there are definitely critics on the mc's personality (like how she isn't fit to be princess). There are people who like the webtoon but it's mostly due to their sexual fantasy and frustrations. Another thing, the webtoon has been on hiatus since late September 2022, and officially it is due to Hong Cha's health problems.

I can't even really hate on the art; it's appealing in some areas, like the coloring and shading and lighting, and utterly awful in others (the bland, empty, emotionless background shots where you can quite literally tell the creator got bored because it wasn't a shot dedicated to making her super special MC look as beautiful as possible.) These Otome Isekai-type stories are often light novels first, then if they become popular, they get adapted into a webcomic. So the illustrator only has control over some humor and the art, and the rest they can’t change.

Imagine if after the 10th chapter this becomes a political thriller about the guys trying to take over the kingdom behind the princess's back. Or a bit later so you can see how she has broken them as humans and justify more severe actions, like wanting to see this palace go up in flames or some other revenge for the trauma. To be fair, she's stupid enough to underestimate them all, so she would never worry about backstabbing. Just agree for one or two of the guys to distract her or take her somewhere and the others can scheme freely. But then the other family members she overthrowed come into play, not having enough power or allies to right out stop them, but finding ways to protect the institution and the kingdom (becouse someone had to give a damn about the country and it's people) First two season finale could be one of the guys managing to scape or having the choice to do so by leaving behind his friends and need for vendetta. In either case showing that they now have one more tool to see the princess pay, be it in more allies on the exterior or by getting key information. You could even throw some homoerotics if you wanna. Nothing like a revolution to make love sprout 🌱💚🌱 Just imagine the princess had a playing session with one, whipping him and kicking him, even bitting him, and he's just too ashamed of himself to seek help for the wounds. Then another one sees blood in the river, he follows it upstream to see what's going on and in the lonely light of the moon he sees the strongest of them reduced to such state. There's some back and forth, but he finally let's him lend a hand... And an hear to listen... And a shoulder to rest on. As the sun comes out and their duties approach, they see wounds don't hurt so much when they're not alone...

a thing that you didn't mention about the story that i think is key are two things. 1. jay gets kidnapped and sexually assaulted/nearly fucking r*ped!!!! by a woman who is obsessed with him and instead of the main character being concerned about him, she more so cares about beating the woman up and ruining her reputation and makes it clear that she "owns" jay, she then tries to make a move on him when he is clearly suffering from ptsd about the whole situation, he says he wants to go home she says no multiple times before she VERY hesitantly says yes and ships him back but only because she keeps eyes on him 2. her fiancée. yes FIANCEE is "ugly and fat" and she is disgusted by the mere sight of him and is a total b*tch to him, she even uses her "jewels" to threaten him, until he works out and uses some weird dark magic stuff to make himself hot then she changes completely and is like 'omg you're so hot now I change my mind I want you now' and then they have s*x. not making that up. they have, s*x. I know Keyaru from Redo of Healer gets a lot of crap for what he did, and while I'm not a big fan of that series, I can give it two positives that this junk couldn't possibly have: 1. While Keyaru was an asshole, at least he was an asshole for reasons. He both mentally and physically tortured for 4 years (which includes being raped by both men and women) after being manipulated by someone he thought meant well. He wasn't just doing it for shits and giggles, he had motivation. And 2. the author actually came out and said he only made that series because he needed the money. He basically looked up what was popular and threw something together. And while I don't approve of that method, at least he admitted to it and even came out with a better series called World's Finest Assassin.

This double standard reminds me of these two webcomics I read: “The First Night with the Duke” (FND) and “Villainess in Love” (ViL). Both have the same beginning, only that the genders are switched. Both show the female lead getting drunk and sleeping with the male lead. However, FND has the male lead take the lead, and us readers are unsure of how consensual this is. Many people dropped the comic because of this. (Perfectly understandable) In ViL, the female lead is the one to take the lead. The consent of the Male Lead in the chapter is also dubious, but *nobody*, or at least very few, really discussed this at all. Granted, the former was on Webtoon, where there are lots more comments, and the latter on Tapas, with less, but still… Sorry for the long post, just something I found interesting.

We are so caught up with details like race and gender that we fail to notice if something is actually good. This work for example is so caught up in showing a "Strong" female character that the writer forgot to make their work funny or charming. So if a male counterpart of a well-written plot I just metioned fails because of it being male, then it isn't the piece's fult it's ours. A story will be good, no matter the status of your character's race/gender/etc.

And nobody batt an eye except for the first EP. There is also Let's Play which was softcore porn and although it wasn't as egregious as this webtoon, the father is possessive and weird over his daughter and there is illustrations of him literally treating her like an object he can only pass down onto the "right man" and on top of that he expects her to be pure and give him grandkids...And how is that presented??? for laughs. Again, I've only seen on video talking about that. There is also the weird plotline where a guy is treated like a nice guy because he didn't SA her while she was drunk in his apartment and in the latest episode he is kind of pressuring her into sex because he is upset and fans still eat it up. So yes, It would be okay if roles were reversed, apparently, you don't even have to look to a different platform for examples.

The princess being perfect on the outside and manipulative wouldve been great if made her face the consequences and learn how to, idk, value and respect her 'lovers' for actual people. But what really downgraded this comic was that no one, in the comic and readers, think that the princess is wrong. It's so disgusting how the blue haired guy is treated, being blackmailed and sold to royalty, and this isnt' seen as wrong? The perfect princess troupe really made this comic worse because there's nothing to connect to her with. Nothing relatable AND she has no morales. Glad to see someone is bringing this up.

You know, the best idea for a character with problematic traits is to make the story and world acknowledge and retaliate against said traits. There's this isekai I really like called Mushoku Tensei that has a protagonist that starts out as an absolute shitbag with some redeeming traits. The lead, Rudeus, is a socially outcast Otaku, reborn as a child in another world, that is a sexual degenerate to the point where he attempts things that I'll lose my anger management recounting here, but then he gets punished in some way; usually by getting his puberty forcibly delayed via hard-toed shoes (ba dum tss.) Afterwards, his worse traits start to diminish and even damn-near disappear by the end of the series while his inventive mind, well-meaning good side and empathic senses basically overtake those more disgusting traits. Hell, he even has a fairly painful, sympathetic and scarily realistic background, being a High-school student that was bullied pretty hard; down to where he goes into being a hermit til his 30's, and then gets hit by a truck trying to warn some highschoolers, ironically, about said runaway truck. See, if you're gonna have a character with traits that can be described woth words like "Horrible, Disturbed, or Depraved," you need two things: a story that Clearly rebuke the lead's actions to show them that these actions aren't OK, and you especially need to give them something for the reader/viewer to like. And bear in mind: Rudeus is pretty tough to like at first. Dude was more Scum than Saint in the beginning, almost got me to quit, and I had to grit my teeth and bear the pain to get the good shit: Realization, Overcoming, and Development. Glad I did because Rudy quickly became a lead with more depth of character than the Marianas Trench, but even still.

I have to disagree on the statement that the creator is getting deffended because she's a girl. I mean, it may have something to do with it, but many female creators have been caught praying on minors and they were treated just as harshly as pedo men were. I think it's more so because of her target demographic, which as you said, is mostly preteens. It actually reminds me of a situation where this guy named LenTotally was exposed for grooming a 14 year old, however, this guy was a part of the shit hole called the gacha community, which is mostly composed out of 10 year olds. This mc reminds me of Duna from Sadistic Beauty {it’s basically the Fifty shades of Grey but with a female dom. So it’s 18+ webcomic but like Fifty shades it’s plot and characters are awful. } in that they both humiliate men and basically amass a harem with a female too {that is a lesbian and she forces her to do things with a guy for her enjoyment} humiliates severely a guy/her ex who criticized her writing and basically seems like the author projecting her views on someone who might have critized her writing. So it seems like Duna is their self insert. Duna basically only lives for her own amusement and the plot is basically treating others like crap well Duna lives as a successful author and is obsessed with ruining her ex and enjoying herself by basically only caring about herself. Also, the author writes a “BL” spinoff which is basically killing stalking but abusing the ex by having one of the another abusive guys in the original abuse him to a sickening degree. I don’t personally get the appeal of abusing men and basically creating unlikeable female characters who’s main role is to use/abuse men for their own fantasies. {stories like these are abuse dressed up to be something else. The comic in this video seems to do so but on the lighter side but is still disgusting. I hate plots that basically try to write a plot that treats the mc as a goddess when she is basically a disgusting person. } Sadistic Beauty isn’t on Webtoon but this Webtoon really is gross with how it is available for younger audiences.

The BL killing stalking with Byun Minho being abused by Wookyung, getting his ankles broken/beaten horrifically, kidnapped, and abused in various other ways. That one gets 37 chapters and the original has 117. If that isn't saying something about what the characters and plot the author enjoys writing about. It says a lot when an author writes so much about abusing a man {the man's only crime being that he says her work isn't good, is rude, and plagiarized a guy's writing.} Also, is objectived in the original. The GL spinoff was seriously rushed it went from Gyerin basically only wanting her because she is attractive and Juyeon is a slob with an unattractive personality to be jealous too fast. Then it's mentioned she may went it to bd just physical. It's confusing, I think if it was longer it could have been better. Which is a shame the author enjoys writing abuse and toxic characters more.

Scummy but the amount of terrible things that everyone does to him in this comic and the BL Spinoff is sickening. So Duna doesn't even have that as an excuse to do awful things to him. The plagerism is the only thing this comic has to try to villianize Byun Minho to try to justify what happens to him. They make him into a guy who can't catch a break from life as he never has any money and his writing isn't good enough but the mc's is. So it's obvious the author sets him up as a man who is good for nothing jerk who can't write no matter how hard he works {which he does try hard and only plagerizes and even begs the mc when has no where to turn and she uses this to her advantage to get revenge on him for his cruel words that hurt her feelings years ago.} People give Re do of a healer criticism based on what he does to the characters but the guy went through being abused by multiple people for years. Duna's excuse is "He hurt my poor feelings! He deserves to be punished and suffer a horrible life."

!!SPOILERS!!!(if you'd like to read this webtoon) Finally someone is talking about it!!! I read the whole thing just because i loved art style. (and i lowkey enjoy reversed harems) But the story and the MC are so problematic. While reading I often thought: "if roles were reversed and Ariana (I think that's MC's name) were a man, everyone would find her mysogynistic and horribly problematic". Like: she makes this whole plot about framing the father of the man she wants as a "pet" into beating her just for her to take this guy for her collection against his will, and then "magnanimously" proceeds to "respect his wishes" of not sleeping with her just to use him to help her with some royal stuff (I don't remember) then autors make up some stalker girl that KIDNAPPS HIM and than tries to RA#E HIM just so the princess could save him and look better in comparison , and then she lets him go "from the goodness of her heart". Not to mention that she's hypocritical (hates her father's concubines while wanting to have a harem herself) and a Mary Sue (completely perfect in every damn thing including but not limited to: combat, magic, politics, manipulation, ruling over kingdom, beauty, etc.) and everyone who she doesn't like and who opposes her is portrayed as evil incarnate. I really liked her character design tho it reminded me of one oc of mine. In the end I found myself rooting for her fiancé guy. She mistreats him for his looks in the beginning, which further proves her hypocrysy because he's in the simillar situation to her mother. Long story short: he later gets a makeover, and it pays off for him because then she wants to fu#k him. (for me he deserves better doesn't matter he's probably evil DUH) That's most of my criticism. For me this whole webtoon is just a power fantasy for creators and we should treat it as such. Honestly, I have the same opinion. If the author was more mature and responsible, she could have polished this comic up to be something truly fun to read. I don't even hate the harem focus of this story, even tho it's not something i enjoy myself. The story can be salvageable if the main chick would have naturally fall in love with all her suiters throughout the progression of the story as some sort of a poly- romance situation, and the man would have came gradually into her life through the will of some big events. More so, the story would be better if the main chick didn't seek her men out deliberately, but rather if all the romances were purely accidental, with the harem coming to be due to the chick wanting to be with all her boyfriends together all at once. Yet this would never happen because why it? it's clear that the author just wants to stay the pre-teen anime loving girl she is in heart forever, and write for her equal pre-teen girl audience their little silly harem stories because that's all she knows to do.

When I say I hate sexual objectification, I mean it for both male and females. This webtoon seems to glorify that it’s ok for women to objectify men and treat them like shit which I don’t stand by at all. Also women being pedophiles isn’t as rare as people might think since boys/men are being told that their r*pe situation is either false or not taken seriously and therefore these situations don’t get reported by men at all. If it does get reported and there is some mainstream backlash, the pedo female would only get slap on wrist punishments and the male victim might still be forced to interact with them or doesn’t get the mental help they need. If a man is accused of pedophilia (and it turns out it’s not true) he would be sent to jail for many years and lose his job, if a woman is accused (and it turns out to be true) she gets a suspension and a couple of months in jail (which is the extreme). I hate webtoons like this that thinks it’s ok to objectify, dehumanize and sexualize the opposite gender. I hope this artist does get the ax.

That is true but most harem series where the MC wants to amass a harem, typically it's by winning over the women and making them happy rather than collecting them like pets purely for self-gratification. Oftentimes the general tone is that the harem rejects, pokes fun at, or even slapsticks the MC when he tries to be a perv and it's only in actual serious contexts that it's shown his attempts at wooing them are actually working. Whether or not the series is good or not isn't here or there but that's usually how these sorts of things go when it's a male MC amassing a female harem (and not just by happenstance, I mean if that's one of the MC's explicit goals, like in a series like Highschool DxD). And there certainly are ones that are more degrading but I don't think they're the norm.

Whether you hate the genre love it, are indifferent to it the harem genre typically always makes it so the women or men (Depending) chooses to be with the MC because they want too with their own free will. while this unhinged webtoon and author is just making it so the men don’t have a say so in the matter and even if it is a fetish fanfic having slaves against their will and treating the MC like some great person while torturing said slaves is fetish no one needs to have man or woman.

@@deathdragoncat The difference is that those shounens are rightfully swept under the radar with very few defending it, and other shounens with harem themes and are incredibly well-liked/popular, like Mushuko Tensei, is well-liked and popular because it actually calls out those themes. In fact it's one of my favorite animes as it makes the most degenerate characters as humans, and displays the realistic message of 'yes, they're degenerate, but the more time they live, the more you'll see other than degeneracy'. And ones like Redo of Healer...well, that's more of an exception since it isn't really a self-insert, more so it was the artist's way of getting money by shock value. This is made obvious when the second series he published was actually good and nuanced. And that's another thing - There's so much shounens with the same problematic theme that some of them are likely made out of corporate interest rather than actual malicious intent like this manhwa. And why this is called out for 'double standards' is because of the attitude the audience have, especially within the comments. I've taken a look at the comments before and _wow,_ I can absolutely understand the passion behind making a video just to criticize how messed up it is. The audience is just infuriating.

Alright, this video spurred me to suffer through all 50 episodes of this fuckfest, and I’ve tried to put all my thoughts on the worst characters into this long ass comment. I’m going to extend a fair warning for SA and abuse. It’s prevalent in the story and not handled very well…. at all. Also, I’ll be referring to all the main ‘jewels’ by their hair colors because I don’t care to remember their names. Let’s start with Yellow. There’s not too much to say about him, but he is extremely manipulative, and sadistically killed multiple people brutally. There is this one really sick part where this duke that MC is engaged to shows up at a ball, only for everyone to see that he’s heavyset. The duke is instantly made into a laughingstock because he’s fat by everyone, and as if that wasn’t humiliating enough for this poor dude, Yellow leans in close to remind him how revolting everyone finds him and laughs in his face about it. This is really nothing compared to everything else, but I still was really bothered by his actions. Red pisses me off more than pretty much everyone else. He’s EXTREMELY possessive over MC, and gets violently jealous whenever another male even looks at her. He brags constantly about how he’s her favorite and how she’d never betray him, then gets butthurt when she inevitably spends time with other men. And the cherry on top: he fucking drugged White so he wouldn’t interfere in Red fucking MC all night long. He consistently bullies White for being a commoner, kidnapped and tortured a journalist who claimed that White was MC’s favorite, and only cooperates with the other jewels if it means getting MC’s attention. He later then forces the same journalist to write a newspaper outing White as having used sex with other men to rise to power in the past, to scandalize and humiliate him. This promptly leads to another man trying to SA White, and when White resists, Red writes yet another article claiming that White outright assaulted an innocent civilian. White is implied to be an SA victim in the past/victim of potential grooming by a royal, and here Red is, using his past trauma in an attempt to paint him as this scandalous sex-crazed maniac and forcing White to a near breaking point. White is the only character aside from Black who’s done pretty much nothing wrong, so this was upsetting to see, and Red never gets confronted or punished for it. And now, you have MC. Shallow as all hell, perfect at everything she does, and loved by literally everyone, she’s just a blatant Mary Sue protag. She’s stated by others to be very kind and considerate, but throughout the comic, she’s been nothing but extremely selfish and perverted. Her eldest stepbrother is horribly abused by his mother on a regular basis, and, knowing this, she makes a laughingstock out of him at every opportunity, shattering his self-esteem even more. She basically pressured about every man to become her jewel, and even setting aside the fucked up implications of that in itself, by far the worst instance was with Blue. For context, Blue is a prince from a foreign kingdom and his dad is a huge disgusting pervert. So how does MC convince Blue to join her? Simple! She stages a set-up that tempts his perverted dad to make a move on her, kick his ass, paints a false bruise on her face with makeup, goes to the royal council and fabricates a story that Blue’s dad SA’d/hit her, and threatens to ruin their country’s political stability if Blue himself doesn’t come back with her as her live-in boy toy. In the same chapter, she kicks his dad’s ass and reprimands him for only seeing women as sex toys. She makes it clear Blue doesn’t have a choice, and gets all mopey when he’s super cold to her the whole time he’s forced to be with her. Here’s the most fucked up part of it all: Blue has this delusional stalker who’s obsessed with him and ends up kidnapping, drugging, and forces herself onto him. Of course, he’s literally crying as he’s helpless and can’t move, and of course, MC shows up and kicks the girl’s ass (rightfully so). After the stalker is captured and taken away, MC cries to Blue, and she literally says verbatim, “This only happened to you because you’re my jewel. If I knew you had to go through this, I would have kept you by my side.” As in, implying it’s a better outcome to force him to stay close to her at all times with the expectation that he’ll willingly get intimate with her whenever she wants (she already is unhappy that he doesn’t want to fuck her), than to, I don’t know, have a moment of reflection and realize that maybe it would’ve been better to never have forced him to be her boy toy at all. SA is one of the most traumatizing things a human can endure, and after barely avoiding getting SA’d, he’s told by his abuser/the one he straight up hates, “I should’ve kept you closer so this wouldn’t happen to you.” Even in this case, she still thinks only of herself first and of him as just her possession, gaslighting him to think that he’s safest around her so he’ll inevitably fall for her later like Stockholm Syndrome kinda shit. She even acknowledges the fact that she forced him to be her jewel against his will, but doesn’t say that at all like it’s a bad thing. He tells her straight up at some point that he doesn’t want to have sex with her, and she’s all “OK but only as long as I get to hold your hand and touch you still.” Even the stalker tells her straight up she’s no different for dragging him there against his will, to which MC says “I took him here legally and never laid a hand on him.” 2 chapters earlier she’s caressing his face when he doesn’t want it and she fabricated a whole ass SA story to force him to be her jewel girl what And then a couple chapters later, she has a change of heart, and tells him to go home and only return when he recovers, though it’s implied she’s using that as a guise and is really letting him go indefinitely. But OF COURSE, when he returns to his kingdom, he’s told that this horrible drug has spread to his country and the only way to stop its spread is to go back to MC and secure her power. Just as he thinks he’s escaped, the plot forces him back to his abuser. I think it’s blatantly obvious that the comic is going for the whole “oh this person saved me from SA so I’m gonna fall in love with them” trope, which is disgusting in itself. Oh, and when he returns to the main kingdom, Red basically threatens to ruin him like he did to White if he gets too close to MC. I feel awful because Blue even has horrible nightmares about his SA, and he associates his trauma with MC, but at the same time is clearly slowly starting to fall for her. And then you have the villains. They are cartoonishly evil, it’s the usual ‘evil bitch who wants power and will kill/abuse anyone to get her way’ trope for the main villain. And then there’s the duke, who’s set up as this insecure, heavyset nice guy but after being laughed out of a party, he uses so much magic as this world’s stand-in for liposuction, he becomes hot but also has a week left to live for some reason??? And of course because he’s hot, now MC is drawn to him, and he proceeds to drug and SA her while the other villain poisons her dad, then the story fucking ends. Overall, this entire comic has zero plot and is an utter waste of time. The majority of the main characters are extremely unlikable, ESPECIALLY MC and Red. White and Black are the only ones I remotely like, and they deserve so much better than MC. She is disgusting and should not be heralded as this badass girlboss for taking advantage of men for her own pleasure and profit. This entire comic is just Stockholm Syndrome from start to finish. I feel like I wasted a week of my life but simultaneously like thirty minutes reading through this fucking thing. It’s a huge pathetic nothing burger, and the only saving grace is its art, and that’s not even saying much. The 3D rendered backgrounds are horrendous, plot points are seemingly brought up then dropped, Red is a fucking abusive douchebag, and MC has zero flaws or redeeming qualities. I would’ve hoped to see a character arc where she realizes how gross and creepy she is to everyone through the entire story, but given who the artist for this comic is, I don’t think that’s the direction this story is going to take. I've been reading for so long that I can tell you that most of the story being released in webtoon right now are absolute shit. I have seen anime and manga like this but with a male main character, like there is practically an entire subgenre of "oopsie, I bought a sex slave, oh no, now she WANTS to be my slave." However for obvious reasons it hasn't gotten as popular over seas. And I've never seen anything like it on webtoon. Part of that is demographics, I think webtoon targets the female demographic more and so it'd be more likely to have a female power fantasy, but like... neither are cool. It's weird how some people who would call the inverse sexist would have no issue with this sort of story...

Main difference is, I have literally never seen people unironically defend those male-oriented relationships as inspirational empowerment stories. The audience openly admit what it is, fetish wish fulfillment. You can't just go "Oh well MALE versions exist too!" as if that disproves a double-standard when they're treated completely differently by both their audiences AND people in general. If someone tried to claim that a rich, powerful prince collecting a harem of slave girls from around the world so that he can fuck them is actually a totally healthy and heroic thing to do, everyone would rightfully call them a moron.

I'm glad you mentioned the age of consent in South Korea is 20! Because I do feel it's pretty unfair to judge people on pedophilia for example liking someone that's 17 when the age of consent in their country is 17 or less and it's normal for them. The art in the thumbnail is amazing, but it doesn't seem to be from the webcomic? And not even of the same artist... Perhaps it's a more recent, more stand-out work of hers? Man, I've never felt diappointed with one of these. Usually I just feel baffled or even angry alongside you... But I was amazed by the thumbnail for like a second before my eyes saw everything else.... It's a shame it's drawn by a terrible person. Some of these stills and designs are legitimetly awesome, with the princess having banger outfits and hairstyles, but I can't not feel bad for enjoying them as much as I do. The fun thing is that this setting could ABSOLUTELY work if flipped on its head. Hell, I’ll do it myself: We start, about 20 years after the end of TPJ, by seeing this truly radiant capital city. Fantasy skyscrapers, shining white buildings with not a scratch, etc (all the cliché “beautiful vaguely victorian city” tropes you can shake a stick at). However, we quickly see (or rather don’t see) any working people anywhere. There’s just rich nobility everywhere. No actual working citizens. We pan down, under the shining marble roads and superficial bullshit, to the Beneath. The Beneath is where this dystopian regime masquerading as a heavenly utopia throws all the things that don’t fit in. The Beneath looks like a cross between a sewer, a scrapyard, and is heavily based of Zaun from Arcane. Then we meet our actual heroes, a group of misfits who don’t look like divine supermodels. They are normal, and they are poor as shit. The first chapter involves them trying to survive the Beneath while avoiding the regular liquidations and executions carried out by the all-female law enforcements against everyone who don’t look good enough. Etc etc etc
