Piano key border with strips from the fat quarters, then back with the rest, maybe a solid small border first, love this quilt

I’m voting for a second time, add more blocks make it wider and maybe one row longer. It will be beautiful without a border. This is a stunning pattern, April, I may have to buy it and make it.
@joz180110 күн бұрын
I would add more blocks and then put a solid border all the way around it and I'm like you I don't think you need to trim those I wouldn't have to me the bulk wouldn't be that heavy but without any mistakes you have if you don't like it I will be glad more than glad to take it off your hands. Wouldn't mind going to Ireland but really would rather go back to Germany. They have great chocolate there and beer. Lol

I think Di is right I’d do 4 blocks across even if it ended up being 4x4. As for borders I’d do a thinner inner border with a single colour fabric (probably a lighter colour) then a thicker scrappy pieced border. It’s a clever idea for anyone that’s put off doing a DWR quilt. I’m currently on year 3 of an epic super king size ( I think you call that a California King??) English paper pieced quilt. I’m hoping to finish it this year. 🤞🏻 thanks for the great tips on what mistakes to avoid it saves all of us making them too. I do look forward to your tutorials as you are honest about the projects you do.

I like bigger quilts so I would add more blocks making it 4 across X 5 down, add a 2 1/2 - 3" white on white border (probably ❄snowflakes❄, I love ❄snowflakes❄), a scrappy border with leftovers of the bundle, whatever is left from scrappy border can be incorporated into the backing, and either red and white stripe or green and white stripe for binding. What ever you decide to do will look great!!

That does look a lot easier than the way I made my first two Double Wedding Quilts. When I'm sewing crumbs and string blocks, Christmas fabrics are fair game. You will find a little Christmas fabric in all of my scrap quilts. Your pets look very healthy and happy. Your grandchildren also look healthy and happy. Which means that your sewing and crafts rooms are happy, healthy places to be. I think you need to add more blocks also. What you have so far is very pretty. Thank you.

If it were mine, I would add another vertical row of blocks, apply a solid border (since the quilt is busy enough) then use what’s left of the fqs for a scrappy binding. Anything left after that, could be used in the back. Good luck!

@laris232810 күн бұрын
Use the striped fabric for the bias binding. A tiny inner border of a fabric that appears solid. A 6" border out of yardage. But for the back, do an easy design using 9" squares (each fq yields four 9" squares). Something simple like a row of squares sewn together with the next row being offset (cut 1 block in half). That's quick easy and nothing to match up. Don't worry about "perfect points". Then you'll have a "reversible" quilt.
@tracymaddox85469 күн бұрын
Add more blocks. It would really bring out the wedding ring circle. There is only one ring now, but two would stand out with more blocks.

Depends how big u want it. I would go with a white low volume first skinny border, then maybe a green and maybe a red skinny borders, then a final scrappy border. I need to buy some of these things if u can find them. Have u seen some of the very modern wedding r quilts that Virginia Findlay wolfe made, super cool, not sure on her name spelling.

Option one, more blocks. It will really be fabulous then. Plus it’s too skinny as is. Multiple borders are easier but, girl, you’re a quilter!
