What does that even mean. 😂
@capnheehee8103 Жыл бұрын
@@TV-ob1if Meaning that in spite of the decades that have passed since this was filmed and aired, it still has as much cultural resonance and power as it did back then. The same can't always be said of every old show, hence the phrase people always bring out: "this aged badly." "This aged badly" can mean a lot of things -- maybe the character says something that would be considered racist or some other kind of social faux pas, but was normal at the time. Maybe its an actor playing a part in a movie where he's doing something bad .... but then later, in real life, he actually does the same bad thing. Bill Cosby being seen handing out drinks to young women on his show would have "aged badly." "Aged badly" could also be as simple and benign as it's almost painfully lame and cringe, which you might get if you watch some of the absolute oldest surviving Doctor Who episodes -- bad special effects, cheesy overacting, etc. These are all things that diehard fans do love about it, but to an average person in 2023, it's simply not watchable anymore. Old cheap Tiger handheld games from the 1990s and VHS videos fall into this category. Even more watered down that, it could be a character making a joke that was timely in the 1960s or something, but nobody born after a certain year would "get it," and even when explained would seem stupid. They've lost almost all their power. This clip, however? Not only is it eminently watchable, it has about the same kind of vibe and impact it would have had on the first evening it was broadcast into peoples' homes. If anything, it GAINED a little bit of resonance over time, given that The Addams Family are still very much a thing to us, and Wednesday has become so iconic. Also, the recent Netflix show has a famous dancing scene, which I suspect is causing this video to show up in some people's searches years after it was uploaded (it's how I got here). Our culture moved in a direction that was compatible with this scene. All of that is just to say, this did NOT "age badly." It aged beautifully, as the person said. 🙂

Lisa Loring was so young when she was cast as Wednesday, that she hadn’t quite learned to read yet. Her mother was appalled when she heard Lisa call Carolyn Jones by her first name, even though Ms Jones invited her to (considered rude for children to call adults by their given names, not showing respect). So Carolyn made a compromise, Lisa called her Miss Carolyn and Carolyn called her Miss Lisa the whole time they were filming the series. I grew up absolutely loving the Addams family and when Wednesday came out I watched it (unfortunately before I got to this episode I was having a rough night because of something’s) but seeing Jenna do this dance I kept rewinding to make sure I saw it right and I smiled and began laughing and my roommate checked to see if I was alright(she witnessed the entire ordeal that made that night rough) and she asked what I was laughing about and I showed her and she didn’t understand why it made me so happy

Watching Wednesday on Netflix and she totally does this move during her dance at the Rave"N. It was a nice little ode to the original Wednesday and I just had to come back here to see it again and make sure I wasn't imagining it, haha. Yep, she totally does this very move at the dance. Because nowadays everything has to be PC, contain minorities, have vulgarity and feminism. Otherwise it's racist when there are only Whites in it. See the difference between the good old days and now?

Has NOTHING to do with PC. The comedy formula these show once relied for people and sponsors to be interested have saturated the American psyche. Over done and no longer funny to a mass audience. Diminishing returns.

It's incredible what she could do with her feet, it's like she was dancing on the river:) And her mother's walk is also great and she is really beautiful. Great cast too, Lurch. The series is different than Burton's Addmas Family, but the characters are definitely better handled than in the new Wednesday series, what a bummer.
