Wow, haven't played sv but these new mons seem insanely broken. The paradox mons' stats are super high (Flutter Mane here has 75 more base stat total than Mismagius), those signature moves look wild under the right circumstances, and terastal on top if it all makes things either way stronger or way more unpredictable. This seems even worse than the Dracovish and Dragapult sweeps of gen 8...

yeah, to my knowledge these were some of the fastest bans in the history of OU, only one that I know was faster was Marshadow getting banned. The reason was that Flutter Mane has no hard counters, and Houndstone was found to be worse than Dracovish, due to the fact that it's a lot harder to resist a ghost move than it is a water move. Scarlet and Violet probably have the most power creep of any pokemon game up to this point, which does provide an interesting metagame, but everything is IMMENSELY powerful. With how strong Zacian was, I think a meta with pseudo legendaries that have a similar ability is only gonna get crazier. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't having fun though, there's a lot of silly stuff that feels immensely satisfying to pull off.

@@Zetta330 flutter mane did have one almost hard counter actually, it's max spdef Tera-steel unaware clodsire, flutter mane's only way to break through it would be by running both psyshock and mystical fire, and even then it's not guaranteed. I do agree that it was way too oppressive though, and clodsire doesn't fit on every team

@@fatyoshi696 From what I read in the ban threads, that was still considered a good trade for Flutter Mane. if Clodsire needs to terastalize, that means any pokemon that could use that ability better is not available. While Clod can definitely tank hits, it will still die to specific flutter mane setups, and at worst, all it can do is force flutter mane out, since it often doesn't have the offensive power to actually kill it. When your worst counter has to spend terastalize just to force you out, there's absolutely a problem.
