The thing Ryan keeps looking at is basically a stovetop espresso brewer, a mocha pot. You pack the fine ground coffee in the middle puck and screw it on. Then you put water in the bottom, under the puck. The water boils through it into the pitcher on top and wham...you have espresso! Okay, it's not technically espresso, but it's close and it's amazing.

@@VanDavis yes! I think it's Christian that reminds me at some point in the episode, but good call.

It like the books made in the 60s I think! It feels like it was covered with fabric and then a thin lair of like a seal so you still feel the fabric texture, but its protected too!

The hot take on the 5e DMG should not be a hot take, Ryan is 100% on point with his comment. I have found so much value in the DMG since the day it came out. It doesn't completely hold your hand, but it does have everything you'd need to make countless good adventures. Pair it with the Swordcoast Adventures Guide (if you are interested in The Forgotten Realms) and you were set for these last 10 years!

I think if I was running this system, if a player rolled a 1-3 for their armor, after the combat, I would describe how their armor was worn down during the fight and now needs to be repaired, or if there's a particularly narrative rich moment during combat I'd describe it breaking. Although on the other hand I don't really understand why the armor value changes between fights so maybe you're both right.
