I think he makes this kind of music because he just really loves pop, R&B and new wave music from the 80’s and has for a long time, and long before he was a “starboy”. Can’t think of anyone else in recent memory that mentioned “New Edition” in a song-maybe ever actually 😂Think he’s doing what he loves. And doesn’t care if everyone gets it or not. He’s just gonna do what speaks to him. Personally speaking, This song is such a delicious throwback and homage to 80’s synth pop. I here the ghosts of Duran Duran, A-Ha, Tears For Fears and The Human League all dancing in this light. As always, his vocals and writing are also stellar. The light from this track is blinding. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT ❤️
