Glad to once again be at fault for a video. I’m not sorry, and I’ll do my goddamn best to make it happen again.

Craigstan also made a plastic steam set in the 70s that had a steam engine, 7-plank wagon, and 2 coaches (1 red, 1 green)

I find it very interesting how they went through so many different wheel arrangements. The two regular cars have proper, if very unusually made, wheel trucks; the caboose has two fixed axles and makes no effort to hide it; but the locomotive is clearly trying to look like a proper bo-bo despite being a 2-4-2. The wheel strangeness combined with the coupler design makes it very reminiscent of some of the Marx train sets, but at reduced scale.

“West Germany?” I never knew it was stamp with. My stepdad was stationed in the U.S. Army Berlin (not exact sure) sometimes in the 1960’s at the time he was served in. So it kinda makes it sense, seemingly.

Very interesting train ! The very thick flanges on the metal loco wheels reminds me of old Trix Express !

There's also a relation to a Japanese company named Nomura Toys, which used a lot of the same tooling, notably the Santa Fe set at 0:51. Don't know if Nomura was another name they used or they bought the tooling: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGmzo2Owqrulm5ofeature=shared

The Caboose body looks like a direct copy off of the Revell CA-1 HO wood caboose.

I can see this being compatible with certain UK brands to an extent… Triang trains all had very bulky flanges, and as a result had bulky track to match, so with any luck it’d run half decently on a Triang layout, need I mention the couplers are also identical to Rosebud Kitmaster’s? (A brand of lovely plastic kits which I shan’t delve into here, but they’re definitely worth reading up on) albeit much bigger compared to RK’s

I was just thinking of Tri-ang track, and how it might fit well for this set.

Ugh! that so called "Trainset" is a joke, It would make AHM/IHC and other low end 'ho' sets more realistic compared to that monstrosity.
@cobramerciless7 ай бұрын
It’s not aiming for realism. It was sold by a toy company.
