I personally go back and forth with my self mill strategies between a Dimir list, a Golgari list, and a Simic list, never actually combining them to make one super mill list with all the perks available, which is kind of uncharacteristic of me since I do have a foil borderless Muldrotha in my binder. My commanders for those are The Ancient One; Izoni, Center of the Web, and I took Grolnok apart to build a Food Chain Borborygmos and Fblthp list, which works pretty swimmingly. Only thing is, I only have this Muldrotha because a friend said I could have it IF I built it, and I haven't built it. It's been months. Maybe a year now since he gave it to me. That being said, I have always looked at Out of the Tombs as a combo piece, but never looked at it as the main wincon. Greater Good as the crux is GENIUS. Like, my gast is completely flabbered that I didn't even think of that. I was thinking of like a Grim Haruspex + Sac outlet + Marionette Apprentice type deal, but that's less cards with the same result for sure. I think this video and all its explanations have given me the push. That's a windmill slam on the Thumbs Up. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk!

really cool deck idea. i love the idea of masochistic game mechanics (both in and out of magic) like self-mill, wheels, etc. but i haven’t really gotten into deckbuilding that much yet. watching your videos really helps me to get a better handle on what it takes to make a unique and interesting deck and i usually find myself inspired after watching. i’d love to see a more general video about how you come up with these ideas and bring them to the final product; i think that kind of video would be very interesting and useful.

I'm currently tweaking mine since its the most recent deck I've built. My initial build was OK but disappointing for me since I prefer to build my decks to power level 7-9 outside of my cEDH deck. One of my recent adjustments was finding multiple lines with Displacer Kitten. Kitten combos with the commander and Lotus Petal (pretty obvious one). Another one I'm leaning more into is Kitten, eternal witness/timeless witness and dark ritual for infinite black mana into a Konrad, ballista, exsanguinate type of effect.

The opposite of self-mill is force draw, not sure if youve played heliod, radiant dawn force draw but its absolutly insane, the secret to a budget high powered deck is running all the cheap mana rocks cmc 3 and below, and x draw, and wheel, add a couple one sided stax pieces that make spells cost more to fight through free interaction and boom instant high power meme deck

Could somebody explain the Out of the tombs and greater good combo to me? Is it just your commander being out that is allowing it to cycle, or is something else i may be missing?
@jump32172 ай бұрын
When you sac a creature with greater good, out of the tombs sees you draw a card and instead reanimates a creature. If you have two creatures (one in play and one in graveyard) you sac creature A, reanimate creature B, then sac creature B, and reanimate creature A. You could loop this indefinitely.
@deckdriverMTG2 ай бұрын
So when out of the tombs is on the battle field, anytime you would draw a card you instead put a creature card from the graveyard onto the battlefield. Greater good draws you cards, you can’t draw cards because 0 cards in library, so instead you would replace the draw with a creature onto the battlefield! So you can just do this over and over and over again!
@kowalskifrog2 ай бұрын
@@deckdriverMTG I feel like I'm losing my mind trying to figure this out but I can't find another source on it. What's the specific order of triggers that happens? If I sac a 4 power creature to greater good with an empty library and out of the tombs out, I would draw 4 and discard 3. To resolve the trigger, I draw 0 ant put 4 out of the tombs triggers on the stack and discard 3. So I have 4 triggers on the stack to return a creature to the battlefield and if I can't, lose the game. I don't have to declare targets and the creature I sacced can be returned too. On the first trigger resolution, I can resolve it, returning the 4 power creature and sac it back, to put 4 more out of the tombs triggers (now 7) on the stack and discard 3. If I have another sac outlet, I can guarantee having something in the gy to return so I don't lose the game or I can loop a creature with an etb/effect that kills the board. Is that correct? My wording could be a bit wonky.

Wow that's a great look at Muldrotha! Also, is there a reason why you didn't include both Mesmeric Orb and Basalt Monolith? They seem to fit in very naturally in the decklist!
@micahhonig15752 ай бұрын
I like the idea of the list - but have to ask. Why would I ever go through the trouble of playing the very fun and interesting out of the tombs + greater good combo when I could just cast Jace and win? In my mind, the inclusion of lab main and jace turns this into just another "cast lab main, draw card, win" deck which I've lost to so many times. If you and the people you play with are cool with it, obviously it's not a problem. If I played this list, though, I think I'd try to find some other interesting ways to win with those slots in the case that the greater good combo is unavailable. Maybe Ormos, Archive Keeper :D
@deckdriverMTG2 ай бұрын
Most of the reason I have Jace and Lab man is for redundancy. They are different permanent types so that helps with Muldrotha. The deck wants to race to 0 cards, so having multiple pay offs for that win con can help in case something ever gets exiled away! Since most people understand what my win con is, most don’t mind the lab win type win cons. I think Ormos could still be a great include!
@zackkelley29402 ай бұрын
@@deckdriverMTG Ormos is a great option. If you're library is empty she gets huge (replaces draw with giving her 5 1/1 counters if your library is empty). If you're library ISN'T empty she also has an excellent discard/draw ability to get you there.
