What deeply upsets me is when visiting family in Puerto Rico, they lived in a very old house that would randomly not have electricity and/or water. When that happened, there was a large barrel drum full of water that you'd put in a pot and boil on the stove (gas stove) and use that pot of water for washing. You got your soap, your mini towel/rag and your pot of water. Each person had their pot of water. There is no damn reason to just use a single bathtub of water that is shared with all family. Even people without running water don't do this. It's nasty. I respect the effort to survive in poverty, but there's saving money then there's just being gross

Idk if it was wife swap or trading spouses but I remember a couple episodes where the children absolutely adored the swapped mother to the point they cried when she said goodbye and one child was basically the earliest version of a family vlog child who hated the fact she could only play with her toys only if there was a camera recording
@qty1315 Жыл бұрын
I think that family vlogs are legit one of the earliest forms of being a professional KZbinr on KZbin. Like, in the early days of KZbin there weren't really people who could make money off of KZbin alone, but family vlog channels were different. You could post a minute of your kids every day, gain millions of views easily, and get ad revenue from that with so little effort compared to everyone else. I mean, there's a very good reason why people will often say that early KZbin consisted of "Videos like Charlie Bit My Finger, and David After The Dentist," instead of the gaming and media content that most people associate with KZbin, especially early KZbin.

@@qty1315 True dat. I don’t think people were fully PREPARED and/or knew what to make of KZbin when it first launched. I know for the first 4-5 years, I just thought of KZbin as that website where people post stupid and/or funny videos that end up going viral (for WHATEVER reason).

I knew the Padovan-Hickmans. I'm from the same town. The family is kinda out there, but from what I remember they were pretty nice people. Reality TV did them dirty, honestly. They definitely know what electricity is. They just chose not to use it. I went to CNA school with one of the daughters and dated briefly, and honestly she was pretty normal. Her mom gave me a huge bag of sweet potatoes on graduation day. They were good af. They ran (and I believe STILL run) the local farmer's market and they kept animals on their property. Steve himself has a viral video of him hamboning (playing the him) on KZbin that got pretty popular. As a side note: King George, VA is quite rural but we still have electricity and internet. Most people who live there are government contractors at the local Navy base and not your typical "hick" type. I moved a few hours away but I still shop at the Opp Shop when I visit my parents cause most of the stuff at the Opp Shop was donated by a lot of the upper-middle class families! @@emilyheyokaevans I agree, but my idea of it is smiling when i feel my gf's smell on the pillow or in a shirt i lent her. Armpit smelling is NOT the way to go.

@@Origami84 why? Because you have different likes and dislikes? That makes it NOT the way to go? I mean as long as your partner does not mind, you can smell her/him/etc as you wish. Who are you to judge?

There was another show where rich families would exchange lives with poor lives and it was usually really nice because the rich family often helped the poor family at the end, by helping the kids out in some way. It was always really nice to see Lol I love thrift shopping. Shannon Is missing out, but she's also awful.
@catcher1972 жыл бұрын
This show is so cringy but taught me alot at a young age. We used to watch it as a family when I was young and even at that age I could see that both sides were extremists and neither way of life was better then the other. It's much of the reason I chose to have such a neutral stance on most things. You have to be open minded if you don't want to be crazy hahaha
@mayhemmayhem92822 жыл бұрын
True with most things but sometimes you have to pick a side because centrists don't get things done. And not picking a side sometimes is picking the side of the oppressor and not the oppressed.

Adding this to the reasons why I hate this show, it turned you into a centrist lmao

Absolutely disagree. You should recognize your interests and preferences while being aware of your means, and work within your means to pursue those interests and preferences. Who cares if other people think you or your lifestyle is crazy? You're the one that has to live it - not them.

@sambeck2510 Жыл бұрын
@@kyleellis1825 With employment it's pretty easy, just keep you business life and your private life separate. Friends who think like you are pretty easy to find in my experience; a lot of people think "crazy" stuff, it's getting them to share it that's the hard part. As for romance, can be a mix of both: find someone like you or keep those parts of you life separate. It's not hard, it just requires a bit of self control and there's no reason for you to deny strong or extreme feelings on any given topic. Embrace them but control them and you'll be fine.

Shannon Michael has the fried, thousand yard stare of a man who is hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. I also thinks it's funny that she said their McMansion was built around that QVC chandelier. I actually feel really bad for them. Not in a "I'd help them" kinda way, but more so a pity-from-afar way. Though I think there are WAY more water efficient ways to make less impact than sharing bath water, I think the shack family had a pretty good thing going.

One of my best friends was on Wife Swap. The episode with Kenny and Bella. He's a long black haired tattoo artist that I was living and working with at the time. He and his wife were separated at the time of shooting, but he wanted that 50k paycheck so he played along. He said that every moment is fake and that he was told to do everything he did by the producers. He tried to get me to come be on the show for a day, but reality tv isn't my bag lol.
