Ugh, I'm a former smoker, but something I would never do is just smoke inside. You need one place that is even slightly free from that smell. Apparently when my mom was little, my grandparents used to smoke in the basement in these two armchairs while watching TV, and there were black circles above each one. That got them to switch to smoking outside Also, if you have kids, definitely don't smoke inside. No, because everyone has their limits of what's physically comfortable you could easily cross the line. Psychologically with a child it could possibly condition your brain into thinking exercise = bad. There's a reason why people who obsessively lose or gain weight to punish themselves are considered sick. If you enforce it to yourself sure, but you can't magically guess if a kid is just having exercise soreness or is genuinely distraught.@@Specialistkay

Also, you can teach someone that without making them experience physical pain? Chores are fine, taking games and toys, grounding, why does it have to be physical? It says a lot about a man that would willingly hurt a kid no matter the lesson. Like it sounds like you've been hurt by life and you're trying to dispel it onto a kid, that's not a lesson that's revenge. When is the last time you messed up and it caused physical pain? Like you have common sense assuming you're an adult most pain you ever feel is completely out of your control.

Yes definitely it's because it's *at* the women _in front of the kids_ on purpose why it feels so gross. I think the American accent has a lot to do with it and him being the only American. It's much sharper because it's *at* someone or something, like daggers meant to hurt them. To the british cursing is just a part of speech and is taken a lot less seriously, rather than a gut punch on purpose. When Sharon curses back at him it just doesn't hit the same. Being yelled *at* is really shitty, and being forced to bend to someone's whim and have to try to guess what the right answer is in order to be on his side to prove a ridiculous point about a wet floor, etc is straight up psychological abuse

I had a “military” stepdad that never was in the military. It sucked so much. At one point he found a candy wrapper behind my dresser and he decided that I was hiding it so he yelled at me for fifteen minutes about how I’m selfish and don’t care about anyone else. Because he thought I hid a candy wrapper behind the dresser and couldn’t fathom a 10 year old putting a wrapper down and not noticing it’s not there later… He would get home from his first job at 3:30pm when me and my sister would’ve been home for maybe 10-15 minutes then he’d patrol the house looking for something to be mad about. Like he’d be upset we didn’t immediately do the dishes when we got home. We eventually learned to just pretend we weren’t home or in the bathroom. I’d literally not move anything and hide in my closet until 4pm when he’d leave for his second job to avoid him finding something to be upset about and yelling at me. One time I didn’t close the fridge completely and he woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me to go do it. Needless to say this episode of wife swap makes me want to fight the producers for letting this man do this stuff, encouraging him, and using it for entertainment. Those kids are constantly on edge and probably don’t like being home.

Brian literally reminds me of my moms bf/common law husband she was with from the time I was like 9 to 16 …it was soooo much this man dictated & enforced & put fear into my sister, my mom & I, but yet did nothing but eat, sleep, spend his disability check, not help with bills, emotionally, verbally & physically abuse my family & control everything but contributed absolutely nothing …..oh that’s right, except fear 🙄😂 If Karen doesn’t leave it’s not going to change later

He won't. And he won't because there's thousands of him living the same exact way and act all shocked when his kids distance themselves from him when he's older. Or they continue the cycle. They never admit they're wrong and they never face real consequences (unless he goes far enough to be outright illegal) since anything he does is considered discipline. - From a past black military kid in the US

Yeah Bryan and his wife and kids have a GREAT family. Not seeing, talking, eating, playing games not together is the perfect way to keep your marriage together. Be like Andy from The Office, "You sure that ear-ring in not in the gay ear?" LOL This shit can not be real, what kind of nut job and a fluff brush for a piece of crap throw rug? At least we got a great new line to use: "That is a face of a smacked ass!!" fantastic line! @27:53 WTF is up with his damn hair man??

I think it's the American accent. When the swapped wife curses back at him her fbombs don't hit the same, they're just a part of speech. His are actual bombs meant to injure, and even some were bleeped when he was yelling in anger (if that wasn't chris' doing) and british cussing is just talking.

Brian was very triggering to watch. Surprisingly not in my usual way that my PTSD gets me, making me feel like a child again as my step-dad violently yelled in my face and put hands on me until I bruised. It made me angry watching, seeing him treat the kids that way. Using them as a 'I told you so', when anyone with eyes can see they won't argue because they're being peacekeepers. Also walking in the house and searching for something to be upset about? Brr. Taking it out on those he considers weaker than him? Somebody made him feel small once, probably in the military, and he's been demanding control ever since. I want his wife to leave him so bad. As for the other family... I feel like Sharon and Paul weren't going to work out. Though it feels telling that she breaks up with him for trying to set boundaries with the kids. God, you'd think she would see Paul as an improvement after the week with Brian. Especially after he takes a bit more control and Paul shows he's dedicated to being a good parent to the kids and less of a doormat. But hey, I hope it worked out for them after the split-- break up was probably good for them.
