Lizards don't tend to get a lot of attention from the general public, but these incredible reptiles are actually some of the most adaptable and diverse animals on the planet, and they have some of the coolest and most bizarre stories of survival you'll find anywhere. However, in the forests and shrublands of the American southeast, there lives a lizard that may be the weirdest one of them all - because it has evolved to totally lose all of its legs. Though it sounds like a nightmare to us, giving up their legs has actually made this species one of the most fascinating and successful lizards in the country, and today, we're gonna show you why.
Coming to Louisiana to film the unparalleled wildlife of this region was a dream of ours ever since we started our channel, and that is thanks to the incredible content of our good friend Zach ‪@LifesWildAdventures‬. Zach is a bona fide expert on the wildlife of Louisiana, and he knows how to find reptiles better than pretty much anyone else we know. His content is absolutely amazing and this trip could never have happened without him, so go give Life's Wild Adventures some love! And of course, this video would have been impossible without Ben ‪@TheWildReportOfficial‬, who generously shared a ton of his outstanding glass lizard footage and taught us a bunch about them from his own video that went up a few weeks ago. Make sure to check out his stuff, if you like what we do, you'll love his content.
Please do not attempt to reenact or recreate any events or scenes from our videos. All animal interactions on this channel are performed by wildlife professionals, and we routinely receive assistance from local wildlife experts and guides during production. All necessary medical precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the hosts and crew. No animals were harmed, removed from the wild, injured, or killed in the production of this video.

Great work with this episode, it's impossible to not love how funky glass lizards are compared to everything else we have here in the Southeast! Some of your macros were also crazy good, I always appreciate the absolute bombastic side-eye delivered by these lizards anytime you try and get B-roll.

Glass lizards definitely have a ton of personality, they don’t always look thrilled to be on camera but thankfully this individual was very relaxed. Thanks for watching man, we couldn’t have done this one without you!

Gotta say this is the best presenting I’ve seen you guys do. You could feel the excitement of finally finding an intact, unsullied uncut legless lizard. What an incredible find! Glad you survived the termite swarm

Another impressive fact-filled video from TWBs. Glad you got your redemption, sweet-looking lizard for this episode. Nutty about those deer flies and termites. You're braver men than I am.

Such a cool creature! I love lizards so much. I always loved seeing them while visiting family in Florida, just clinging to the side of the house, or crawling up the window screens. I think most of those were anoles or geckos. I also saw iguanas a couple times! Very neat. That swarm of termites, though. Gross! I would've been losing my mind. Insects crawling all over me, flying at my face, getting under my clothes. NO NO NO! You guys were surprisingly calm about it. I admire that. Great video again. Thanks for the neat info and this glimpse at an awesome animal!

Thank you so much! Growing up in Pennsylvania we saw almost no lizards at all, but any time we visited Florida we also were super happy to see all the lizards around. Catching anoles and house geckos remain some of my favorite childhood memories, and it’s still just as fun today when we’re down there. The termite swarm was pretty crazy, but luckily they don’t bite so it wasn’t too bad. We appreciate you watching!

This Lizard is haunting me, Andrew Raciti on Ticktock caught one. It was the first video that popped up on my TikTok that morning and he didn’t show the tail part that came off that really doesn’t bother me too bad but the holes where the tail came off on the lizard itself caused a instant reaction of me violently throwing up. I had no control and have never had a response to something like that. I can look at crime scene photos and not get grossed out. I was literally nauseous that entire day. I can look at it now and it still gives me the willies but I don’t have that instant reaction I think it may have been because I had just woken up. But I woke up this morning and it was you guys catching that one in the tail came off 😂

Seeing them drop their tail is certainly an unsettling sight, thankfully this individual was very calm and didn’t feel the need to defend itself in that way. Thank you very much for watching!
