I had two weird roommates during my time. My first roommate was from another unit. We became friends and after a few months he would keep the room light on till 2 am. He would watch kids cartoons and he rarely left his room. I would plead with him to use a light to read so I could sleep. No luck. One time I told him I was going to the PX. Half way down the stairs I forgot my wallet. I went into my room and the guy stands up with a noose around his head. He was jacking off to thundercats. I refused to go back to my room. I called the 1Sgt and told him what happened. My second roommate would not share anything. He would lock things up when he left his room. He never cleaned his half of the room. He was a E2. I was a E4 with 4 years. I had to talk to his squad leader to make him clean his room. The guy barely talked to me since he was not in my platoon. The guy was a rat and told my commander some things I was doing. My friends would visit and talk openly while he was there.

We had a guy who went AWOL at Hood. Ended up at Carson. He would prop the door open at the MWR and sleep there at night. Turns out he was touching little boys in Colorado Springs. He was arrested and ended up at the local prison. I ended up at Carson years later and I asked a SGT about him. Should have seen his eyes light up.

We had this one guy who would keep using his roommate's toilet paper. So of course that roommate locked it away. Soon after the first roommate would use the bathroom, then everytime he'd take a shower after a dump... Well a certain SGT lived off Post so asked them to use their shower after Physical Training. Said SGT noticed brown marks in the corner of the shower. Turns out since the Private couldn't use the toilet paper anymore, he'd use the shower to clean his butt. When that SGT found, obviously was pissed.

We had a soldier that was extremely gothic. Of course during duty hours and in uniform he was a good soldier. I had a POV, he did not. He asked me to drive him to few funeral homes. Once had a roommate who was not the norm. The guy would lock up all of his stuff. Every other roommate I had would share their video games or phone etc. The guy would barely clean the bathroom we shared. I had to complain to his squad leader about this. He only hung out with his people in his platoon. Also. The guy would keep the room light on almost all night. No consideration for when I wanted to go to bed. The guy rat me out on some things and got me in trouble. It got so bad I asked for a new roommate. Year later I found out he grew up poor and had a rough upbringing. I guess he changed and became outgrowing and had some hot European gf a few years later.

So, we had a guy join our unit 3 weeks after I got there. We just so happen to have 100% UA the day he got there. It took about a week for us to get the information back that he popped hot for a bunch of things. He also gets a DUI that same week, underage. That's not even the crazy part! He proceeds to drag the mps around post (Ft Hood) on a low/medium speed chase. I think he was trying to get off post, but only knew of the main gate and you really can't get around Ft Hood at all on weekdays because of the traffic. Eventually they pinned his car down on battalion ave. Arrest him, immediately search his room. 10 bags of trash later and we have a full health and welfare because of the shit they found. Dude had been in the barracks and regular army for a week and just fucked everything up that a person can fuck up. I dunno if you're ever going to read this Pvt Haynes, but you fucked life up for lots of people who had nothing to do with you. Hell, we had daily room inspections BEFORE PT for the next year from out platoon sgt and PL.

In civilian life and military life you always find go getters and lazy bastards. I knew i guy i went to AIT with and we met again at the replacement unit in Germany and so we stuck together since we were E-1's we both were typical lost newbies. Luckily we both went to the same unit on a small base on a hilltop but different Companies in the same BN. Long story short things were good for the first year then the guy changed. He became unsociable and he seemed to be stoned alot. ( Not drunk) I found out he was sniffing Boot edge dressing ( When we had black boots you would dress the edges with this stuff) I was having a good time there plus i was given a good job with secret commo shit. I tried to help him but i seen him shoplift this stuff in the px then i told myself i better not jeopardize my confidential job hanging with him. Next thing i see was a puptent out in the court yard of the BN barracks area. Found out it was my buddy's. He passed out in his barracks room sniffing edge dressing and shit got all over him and the floor so his 1st SGT said he doesn't diserve to live in the barracks. Bottom line he was kickedout. Sad story. I understand people snapping in Combat zones but not at a quiet uneventful place.

We ended up kicking him out of the gym where I worked at at the time and banned him from returning. He would still come around time to time and peek through the glass doors to check if he could slip passed the front desk people. Hey Christopher this is Jonathan I've got a story from Iwo Jima 1945 I bet I heard from one of the veterans anyways it starts out with these two marines going back to a CB Camp to pick up some composition B and 2 by 4 and duct tape anyways they were heading back to the front lines when a tank pulled up and ask him what all that stuff was for and they said well that's one grenade that the Japanese can't throw back I'll keep in mind this was a second hand story that I heard from one of the veterans that served on Iwo Jima during the time of them raising the flag on Mount suribachi

1st of all Jesus Christ for those that do not know grew up a carpenter. Sweeping the floor was an everyday task. I would not have had any trouble as an nco when I was active. To insure this person did as asked to do. With a comment like that I would have come back with biblical Scripture to offset that "WWDJ" comment. Yes people there are a lot of NCO's that are deeply religious and in leadership roles

So Chris, I have heard it said and would NEVER engage in such a vile act myself, but in the Vietnam days if an enlisted soldier's behavior created a serious enough risk for his fellows, he would be permanently dealt with. Fragging, but for enlisted shit bags instead of officers.

Yeah...great story, surprised they didn’t discharge him sooner. I have a LOT of interesting stories too. He probably received a general discharge under less than honorable conditions. I’ll sometime give a few bizarre stories...one day.

With those religious excuses and things, how come the Chaplin wasn't notified to do research on the religion. In my unit a guy was wearing a wrist band. An NCO told him to take it off and refused to. He said it is his religion. The NCO told the Chaplin. The Chaplin did research and nothing on religion. He then told the 1sg about the situation
