4:50 AM? Respect! Also...worked as a janitor before...I thought my previous job was worse, having to wake up at 4 just to reach in time. but the Janitor shift was 2 am til 6, and then 4pm to 8...yeah..tell me where the life is. Literally waking up, work then sleep, repeat 6 days a week. Plus the looks you get from the students in the afternoon.. You make good money though.

Agreed. I actually work in the field, EEG during sleep as well as the effects of pink noise on sleep quality. The quality of the EEG recordings are essentially useless, improving but still not great. I can tell you though that it's a step in the right direction and the more big companies invest in this stuff the better off we'll be.
@reggiep75

I've been hooked up to EEG loads of times for epilepsy and sleep analysis and was a bit 'Hmmm' when things weren't explained well by the practitioner/neurologist or I couldn't see the data on a screen to understand it then or when they said 'Move your left arm and clench your fist' and the info showed. There are little to no layman's terms when describing some things in life, you either look into it yourself (taking time) or just ask loads of questions or, even worse, 'What does this button do!?' but sometimes, simplifying results, like this product does, doesn't work.
@pawala7

@@reggiep75 Thing is, not even the technician knows what's going on until the data is analyzed. The raw readings typically mean nothing, aside from indicating whether a clean-ish signal is being read or not. Epilepsy is a bit of an exception since the readings are extremely exaggerated.

Super interesting. I was part of a study for an early prototype of this (I'm guessing, itlooks almost identical) by Philips three or so years ago. Idk if Philips ended up selling the tech to this company or what but the whole idea is really cool. The main difference is the version I was testing out also emitted certain frequencies at key points throughout the night to induce a much deeper sleep. It seemed to work well but I just hated wearing it every night. Now I kind of want to pull it back out and give it another try.

I worked at Microsoft at the time those were released and we had an email group of people that used it and how people reacted to the sleep data was pretty funny. Regularly someone would be like "it says I only got 4 hours of deep sleep last night, am I gonna die?". I used to respond back "if you are gonna die from that, then I'm screwed because you got more deep sleep than I got total". I always knew I had a hard time sleeping, but never realized how bad it was until I was looking at the data from my band.

This was an interesting video and did well to display a product that I probably wouldn'tve know or heard about otherwise. If Linus of James is seeing this then I'd like to say that these things should continue on short circuit

This will probably go on my "things I need for my health but are expensive" list next to herman miller type office chair. For me, the only way I can get at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep is with cold weather. In a parallel universe I probably work as a human pillow for people with Reynaud's disease.

It is funny that everyone keeps clamouring for more James and Anthony anytime they are seen in any video. And no one, ever says, we want more Linus. Meanwhile, Linus just tries to be everywhere.

I've never had the "oh it wakes you up when you're sleeping lightest" things ever work for me. Honestly I feel like it's better at the end of the day to get into a habit. I work 12 hour shifts in a clean room so my alarm is set for 4:30 and I don't snooze it. Sure after a vacation I'll wake up suddenly the first couple of mornings but after that I get into a pattern and that's it.

Sleep studies are basically this device- but with people watching you the whole time you sleep. Currently with the state of things, medical professionals aren't performing sleep studies- but this could be useful to bring to a medical profesional to be approved for a CPAP machine. basically a respirator for people who tend to stop breathing while they're asleep- aka Sleep apnea.

Btw, USB C doesn't automatically mean faster charging. For a device of this class, the charge current will most likely be limited by the battery rather than the connector. So using a connector + charger that can handle more current doesn't matter if the battery can't take it.

As a person with sleep apnoea I would recommend anyone with indicators of sleep problems see a sleep doctor and have a study done and not waste money on something stupid like this that doesn't actually help in any way. If you do have sleep problems PLEASE get it looked into, it is life changing.

4:30 charger police here. Micro B isn't the problem, it can change at 2+ amps. With Qualcomm quick charge 2 or 3 you can push over 20 watts down them too. Samsung's and Sony did this before USBC came out. The issue is the wall wart and the circuit are probably only rated for 500ma at most.
@WedgeStratos
@WedgeStratos 4 жыл бұрын
>Blames the slow charging on micro-B >Doesn't tell you the official power rating on the wallplug The cable means nothing for power draw. We've had fast charging for years, well before Type-C. Can Type-C sustain much higher outputs? Absolutely. Is 5 watts the limit of Micro-B? Not even close. With that said, if the power rating on the wallplug is low, then the intent might be to let it charge all day.
