Actually Brandon did say they made some changes he didn't like. And a big one he knew fans would be very divided about. He was there as a consultant but he didn't have the last word on the tv show.

The show absolutely does not do the books any justice. What a huge let down, the hobbit series was Oscar worthy compared to this adaptation and we all know how disappointing the hobbit movies were. Rewatch game of thrones and don’t have your heart ripped out over this dumpster fire ;(
