The only reason Malema wants to nationalize mines, is to fill his own pockets. All models for the nationalization of mines has either proven to be failures for many reasons or the people of the country have not benefited as these EFF members think they will. There is a reason why Mandela & the ANC changed there stance on nationalization at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 1991. Nationalization will detract "Direct Foreign Investment" which will cause further increases in inflation & interest rates, which in turn will lead to job loses. Malema doesn't care because he wants his own Nkandla and his followers don't understand anything about economics. Any person who knows anything about how farming works, will understand why the nationalization of productive land will kill this country.

In any event I think a 'participatory economics' model would be more successful than nationalisation (it has worked and is working in many countries around the world). JusticeNature Malema includes the occupation of land where claimants have laid claims to land. Many many of these claims are on productive farms. He reiterated this yesterday. The issue for farmers are, they bought & paid for the land like any of us have to pay for property, but further to this, the farmers have also invested greatly in the land therefore the value at which they see the land is often greater than what the Government is prepared to pay. If the claimants are not prepared to accept financial compensation, this leads to a stale mate. Malema says that there should be no compensation at all. The claimants must take and occupy the land. He further states that if the claimants don't do anything productive with the land, it should be taken away and given to someone else. This quiet an illogical quest, because the land could go through man many hands over many years thus leading to the land becoming baron & infertile. To recover, it would once again take years & lots of money. S.A would end up like Zimbabwe & become a net importer of food.

I know very little about these issues. In my humble opinion, if i had a major stake in all of this I would try to be proactive with solutions rather than wait for a Government idea. I'm sure everybody acknowledges that the minority have had a 500yr head start. And the minority have faced generation of financial, physical & psychological hardship. Therefore the major players (ie those that have benefited for generations) from the productive industries should form alliances with the nouveau riche and the slowly growing middle class to pool funds and make progress. For example, the major mining companies could consider setting up a crowdfunding project where they could start off by saying 10% of this company will now be part of a country fund to support training & education (for the poor, from Kindergarten thru PHd and apprentice training for those past schooling age (and ensure a world class education & training system). Other companies could also contribute and both rich and middle income earners can contribute a small monthly amount from there salary. ( I know this is supposed to come from taxes, but as i said before, you cant wait for Governments, for the most part, those that claw there way up the ladder are bent in some way or another.) Low interest loans could then me made available to those that have been trained and educated to so something. Alternatively, they could just use there new skills to find employment in the local market (or remotely in the global online market). Lets not forget that SA has 0.5 % of the worlds wealth (more than Norway, Israel etc) there's plenty of money around that could be used to benefit the future of the country and people, businesses etc This will eventually benefit the companies and individuals who choose to invest in such a project. Incomes will rise, crime will fall and hopefully interacial & tribal relations will improve in the medium to long term. If something radical is not proposed soon I'm afraid things could get alot worse for everybody. A project such as this could also bring a sense of unity (ofcourse it must be managed and organised by 100% trusted/bonifide individuals). I'm sure this could raise a more than a a few billion dollars a year and will those way below the poverty line some hope. Wishing SA the best.

I am not south African but, I totally agree with these two guys. The whole EFF thing of total comnunist style takeover is not possible and healthy for the country. This concept is over cooked, over publicized by selfish greedy sides to make the world fear EFF. Not all land will ever be sizes and all the inequality practices inside companies is true by malema. White south Africans if they sincerely love the country, they should not be afraid to make some reasonable concessions relative to their past egos. Venezuela made a big mistake by seizing land but not correctly following up on technically and financially cooperating with the new owners and one of these gentlemen is spot on that point. Instead of white south Africans to be paranoid and fleeing to other countries across Africa, they should stay and play by the ways of these two gentlemen. There is no guarantee that those other African countries receiving them will not turn against them in the future especially that these countries know the history of south Africa.

I must agree here. Studying the Word and looking at what people are saying and doing, I cannot understand where they get their answers from. It is not in the Bible. Where or when did God give this land to the White Europeans? They forget that God is not a respecter of persons, races or nations. So that alone disqualifies the argument of those claiming that this is their fatherland alone. This comes from misinterpreting the Bible to suit their misguided minds and ideas. The Bible is full of it. If God sent us to Africa then it was to bring the Gospel here and help develop the land and make it a country or even continent that shows the world how things should be done. I have for a very long time studied the EFF, and I must agree that it should be a serious consideration. Julius is just a rough piece of wood at this time, but can we blame him? Perhaps time will teach him. We take care of many black children and treat them as our own. We have a black young man staying with us and I treat all his mates like I treat him and most of them call me "Dad" So I treat them as if they are my own children. If more White Africans would reach out to those Black Africans suffering, you will start seeing a change in this wonderful country of ours. I have never voted for any party, until the Referendum. Being a Christian, it made sense to vote yes. Do it Julius; ons gog jou mona!!!
