I got here after a plug from another youtuber I like called Scary Interesting. It seems I'm late to this party, but I'm glad I arrived. This is a really great story so far and an awesome mystery. I love how the information about this whole affair is just trickled out, and that there appears to be a lot more to it than just the individual seasons about the expeditions. I'm spending all day at work trying to figure out what's going on in my head, then come home and listen to more episodes. very well written!

another Scary Interesting viewer here too, most of the first two seasons I couldn't help thinking "put that thing back where it came from or so help meeee," whereas now it's more of a feeling of "who's cracking first?" because we've got multiple cast members starting to get a bit funny at once.

as a portuguese and spanish speaker, the effort you guys put in this series is incredible. while in the first episode lucas’ accent in portuguese threw me off a bit, it got SO much better since then (it’s near perfection now, seriously). and his brazilian accent in english is so fantastic that sometimes i swear he’s speaking portuguese (even though he’s not). amazing job guys!!! and the “quando você vê, ele te vê também” part? ABSOLUTE CINEMA.

OK so this was profoundly creepy and continues to be amazing but now there's something really funny about the intro: the (absolutely brilliant) reveal at the end of the previous episode establishes that our boi Casner is listening to the narrator/documentarian just as we are, and he's getting real impatient. So now when the narrator gives the winter travel advisory warning, I have this hilarious mental image of him rolling his eyes so hard and fuming like "Oh *seriously?* Do you have to say that every time?!"

i love how this team seems to interpret things separately. i had my suspicions, but as other commenters pointed out, the “giant sloth” carving might possibly be the skinny black monsters, and the stair with “loose rocks” might be made of teeth. i wonder what other separate interpretations i’ve missed. i noticed Josefa described a “theater in the round” with a central podium….

I still wonder what happened on the people who built and carved all those stuff.Were they and the monster on the same side or they were simply doomed because they weren’t able to fight against the monster?It must have been a period of peace between those people and the monster for those stuff to be built.Maybe it was because they failed to fulfill the monster’s demand eventually and the peace was broke after that.And why should the monster move all the statues before killings? So many mysteries…

I don't like how there's just random Spanish thrown in. The first installment had people of different languages and used them sparingly or at the start of a letter that was translated quickly. Here a thing happens "random Spanish sentences and dialogue" like, glad I have to wait seven seconds for them to just say what they just said in English. This has been constant up to this point and is just annoying. And just so it's clear, I'd have the same problem if it was french or russian or turkish or esparanto or whatever. This didn't happen in the first story, not sure why they decided to do that with this.

English was their common language in the first season, whereas Spanish is the common language for all but two of them in this season. Obviously if you don't like it you don't like it, but for me it adds to the authenticity.

@@bryan__m If the core audience was a Spanish or bilingual audience that would be nice, but this is aimed at English speakers. A strength of the first two seasons was that there was diversity of ethnicities and languages which necessitated the English naturally. Here they keep warning each other to use English for Dr. Liu and Hall, but they don't actually keep things English for those two often. Them speaking Spanish is natural and authentic, but so was the common English in seasons 1 and 2, and in the latter case didn't leave non-Spanish speakers perplexed.

@@madhippy3 I only speak English. The strength for me is the story, the attention to detail, and the drive to make it all feel real, not the number of languages included. I don't feel like I'm missing out because everything is then translated to English anyway (with some minor exceptions, like the Portuguese "when you see it, it sees you" Easter Egg jump scare). Obviously if you don't like it you don't like it, but for me it adds to the authenticity.

@@bryan__m Well check the comments. A few of us want to know what is being said in an audio only podcast. Thats not your top priority? Thats perfectly fine and seems to be the majority opinion. But I also speak only English and it is annoying that they tell themselves to speak English for the benefit of two characters, then they don't. If it was some subtle story telling that the archeological crew didn't respect Liu and Hall and only giving them lip service that would be kinda cool, but I think the White Vault staff just wanted to speak a lot of Spanish and Portuguese here. I think we could have gotten around this with a more diverse research team. As I have already said.

I'd probably like it less if it were another international team, because the different premise for the same result is part of what makes it interesting. At the end of the day, there's not really any way to convince me to suddenly dislike it because you would have wanted it to be different, because what you like and what I like aren't the same thing..
