@@JulioLeonFandinho I can think of a couple better than this. Shepperton comes to mind. Also, the studio version used a piano for the beginning parts and a violin instead of a harmonica.

Listening to this rough, overblown live version as an introduction to the song doesn't do it any favours. I think in general you should always listen to the studio version of a song before a live version. Unless the live version is very highly produced it will always lack clarity, completeness, balance and nuance compared to the studio version. If you've already heard the studio version your brain fills in these gaps.

I've seen them 4 times when I was younger. I'm going to out on a limb here and say that maybe you didn't see the best performance. Townsend usually dances around a lot more, Daltrey was a lot more active with the mic as well as his dancing. I might suggest you check out "Who are you" or "Won't get fooled again". They are truly a great band. Love your reactions, Keep up the good work.

It’s a bit of a manic version. The studio version is more precise and toned down where it needs to be. No dancing unless it’s you. Lol. I saw them live at Madison Square Garden so I have my own informed opinion. Great show and when they were late, they had little plastic cups of champagne passed out to the whole place! Thanks for your honest reaction to this performance though!

The Who are performers. They are generally doing all sorts of frenetic moves & gyrations in a live performance, except for John Entwhistle, bass guitarist. Keith Moon, otoh, is a wild man, whether he's playing live or in the studio. Try "Won't Get Fooled Again" or "Who Are You".

I’m not sure that I’m as critical of the performance itself as you, but you’re right about the lack of seriousness considering the message of the song. I think Pete (rip) was high, because his attempt to play a very small lead break was feeble at best. The message was one that they should have really taken to heart, it would have saved a lot of people a lot of grief, and we would probably have one of the world’s greatest drummers with us a little longer.

This was an interesting choice. The Who were arguably the best live band in the world for a few years but suffers from having some of its worst moments captured on film forever, and relatively little footage of them at their peak. This concert was only one of two shows they played after some time off from touring and by all accounts were very rusty. In addition, three of the band members were very close to blind drunk for both concerts. Lastly, this song requires that they play along to backing tapes, which is the death of any live performance. They do this a lot in recent years.

The Who, or Pete Townsend, were going through a tough time in this period as Pete tried to piece together a new "rock opera" called Lifehouse - it never really made it and this is one of the better songs to come from the project. The version with Nigel Kennedy playing the climactic finish is terrific. But as with all the others - thanks for an honest review.

Haha, The Who were always controversial, it's definitely not the taste of everyone. You have to like them or not. Their song's for themselves were pretty good, but the performance was sometimes absolutely weird, especially if they destroyed their equipment at the of gig. Alcohol, drugs no idea whether they always knew exactly where they were.

Rebeka, this song refers to the big hippy rock jam in Wood Stock New York that the Who Played live at back in the late 60's. This album came out a few years later. The Who hated playing at this concert because of all of the hippy gross-ness and filth at that jam. Hippys loved, but The Who hated it. That is the meaning of this song, Teenage-wasteland.😉

This might be the first ever reaction video I've heard (in all of KZbin) where the reaction was completely negative. Very refreshing! After all, reactions that are all positive aren't really honest reactions. I understand that the person reacting doesn't want to offend the viewers who suggested the video, but offering ones opinion shouldn't really offend anyone. I do like this song however, but I agree the performance was over the top. I, usually, don't dig deep into the meaning of the song. My first reaction is if the song just sounds good to me.

I think maybe you're right about this one, Rebeka - (get the popcorn) - & I'm a BIG Who fan - saw them 3, 4 times live, including ONLY time, as I understand it, The Who and Led Zeppelin played together (at Merryweather Post Pavilion outdoors not too far from D.C. in US of A around 1969 when "Tommy" had just come out, and Zep's 1st album had just been released) -- I mean Pete's upset about "the absolute desolation of teenagers at Woodstock - 20 people had brain damage" (is that verified?) after that 3-day weekend, out of what - 400,000-plus people tripping, listening to some of the best R&R live of all time & camping out shoulder to shoulder more or less ... You'll get MORE brain dead than that after any resort weekend anywhere, OR at a 20-minute trump (I refuse to capitalize it) rally with 23 people at it now-a-daze ........... Besides that ("more precise and toned down" or NOT), in ANY version of this song the instrumental intro is way OVERLONG; Daltrey's harp playing is so-SO at best; and Pete spends WAY too much time on tambourine & dancing for a WHO song to make any sense. Their MUCH BETTER anthem to "teenage wasteland" is "My Generation" ..... where as I understand it, Daltrey's stuttering -- "mu-mu-mu-mu MY GENERATION" was an imitation of their fans strung out on speed (illegal drug uppers) not being able to communicate verbally very well ......... "Oh Well" -- Speaking of that classic Peter Green-led original Fleetwood Mac song - have you ever reviewed that one, Rebeka? Here's a good LINK to plug into etc ...... hopefully will work Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac - "Oh Well", Live@ Music Mash 1969 - Bing video AND JUST ONE OTHER THING - have you explored the Seattle (mostly, Stone Temple Pilots were from a bit south of there) GRUNGE thing of the early-mid 1990s? Well, you SHOULD ..... Nirvana, Soundgartern, Alice in Chains, STP, and a few others - probably the LAST true R&R uprising not quickly corporate controlled ..... and then there are the Red Hot Chili Peppers - so good over SUCH a LONG period of time - check "Dani California" out - a visual satire on all the rock image phases from 1950s to 1990s

Those silly movements are the ultimate classic live band moves which inspired many many, many bands in rock afterwards..here they want to satirise the hippie movement and that's why they act more silly then usual.the intro alone is a dive to electronica from the 60's...nothing like that ever been heard till then. trust me..just the fact that this song calls hippies in their faces "teenage wasteland" (due to their extensive use of drugs)makes it even more interesting and prophetic combined..
