Maui Wowie Ringo's playing was well adapted towards The Beatles. John Bonham would've been brilliant, but then The Beatles wouldn't have been the same.
@danman66697 жыл бұрын
Well, Bonham can't play the drums half as well as Peart, so what's your point? Imagine Led Zeppelin with Neal Peart. In other words, a drummer's ability means virtually nothing, unless the drumming style fits the band. Ringo's drumming style fit The Beatles perfectly. Any other drummer would have changed the dynamics of the band and who knows if we would have the same kinds of songs as we eventually did without Ringo's unique style of drumming that inspired other great drummers both of his era and into the future.

I'm 51, probably first heard this in '73 or '74? I've seen the Who live in '82, twice in a week in '89 (the Tommy production at Universal Amphitheatre, L.A. with guests Steve Winwood, Billy Idol, Phil Collins, Patti LaBelle and Sir Elton John-what a fucking night!! And two nights later at L.A. Colosseum. '08, and doing Quadrophenia in '13. Total 5x live. Sadly, none while Moon was alive. Three with The Ox. Each and every time (and damn near every time when I still hear it on the radio, I get fucking chills down my spine. This song is an anthem, at once a raised fist of anger and rebellion and a realization that anger and rebellion aren't always enough and can be a dead end. If Townshend had never written Tommy prior, this would solidify his place as one of rocks geniuses. Add this (The Who's Next lp) on top of Tommy and Quadrophenia right after? The Who are easily one of the best rockers ever. If not THE best. Long Live Fucking Rock.
