I also agree with your assessment of the crappy packaging design. Who puts a sticky label on top of a classic cover, obliterating part of the original artwork? Morons who made the decision to package them that way. Also the plastic spindles that hold the Cd's in place are so cheaply made it's shameful. The companies executives that charge fans good money for shoddy packaging should be made to listen to Nickleback until they are sobbing in agony!

The Who Sell Out is probably one of their best as well, some amazing songs on there like "Sunrise". That got a deluxe edition release too at one point, with both the mono and stereo mixes. Great release.

Yeah, that’s the 2009 edition, which I have. Last year a new Deluxe edition was released, so that’s probably different.

I have that album, I got it at a store called Disc Replay. It has everything which is rare when you're getting used records. And at another store called 2nd&Charles, I got a version of Tommy with guest vocals on it. It is on the Ode label, the same label Carol King was on. The original Tommy album label is Decca, that's the one I have. The one I got had a silver ball on it and that also has a booklet like the original. The guest vocals or soloists are Pete Townsend, Sandy Denny, Graham Bell, Steve Winwood, Maggie Bell, Richie Havens, Merry Clayton, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Ringo Starr, Rod Stewart, and Richard Harris. It's very complete.

The Who is my favorite rock band but they frequently re-release their albums again and again. I bought "Who's Next" and "Live at Leeds" 3 times each because the kept expanding them. I didn't buy the last "Live at Leeds" with the Hull concert. Some of the bonus tracks on the single disc "Who's Next" are different from those on the 2-disc set so I kept both. In addition to the deluxe "Tommy" album I also have the soundtrack version that has songs by Eric Clapton, Tina Turner and Elton John. Some of the Who versions I like more than the originals. My deluxe editions have plastic slipcases instead of tape.

Cool! What I got is the Who’s Next and Quadrophenia Deluxe cd’s you got. My Tommy Deluxe is the SACD one from 2002 with different content. I wonder if the Tommy 2013 Deluxe you have has the libretto and original artwork. Mine doesn’t. Edit: Yours does.

I have 3 out of those 4. I still have the old boring version of Tommy on CD. But I do have all the albums on Hi Res, The Who discography is one of the best sounding on HDtracks, along with Tom Petty. So I guess I have the deluxe Tommy, just not a physical copy. Might have to get a copy. I am the opposite, I love the hype stickers on the cover. I even peel them off the plastic and stick them on the CD cover. I'm crazy like that. As I was watching I received an email from Amazon recommending The Who Hits 50, odd timing. I own that CD I think, may not have bought from Amazon though. The new WHO album is pretty good. Great video!

"Who's Next" is my #5 favourite album of all time. And I agree with you about "Quadrophenia". I hear people like Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam say it's their all time favourite album. But, I only like some of the tracks. However, I like those songs a lot. So, it's still worth having in my collection. I think you should give the new "Who" album a shot. Definitely get the deluxe edition. I think the first two of the three bonus tracks are great. I think it's The Who's best album since "Who Are You". And it's much better than their last, "Endless Wire", which I didn't even bother purchasing. But, I got the best songs from it on the "Maximum A's And B's" box set. That set has a bunch of Who rarities on it.

🇺🇸It’s been very cold here in New Jersey as well, Larry. Every morning and I’ve gotten up it’s been in the teens. Today the high was 19°F. Not sure what that is in Celsius. That was actually the highest temperature for this week. I think the high today is going to be 32° Fahrenheit which is the freezing mark.🥶🇨🇦

Hi Larry and Fans of HQE: The Who are one of my favorite groups. I have all studio albums (except the last one) on CD. Need to update since they are all from the 80's/90's. (Quadrophenia is the only new one.) Favorite Who album is The Who Sell Out. The Guess Who and The Clash are other great bands. Yeah. I don't like stickers on the album covers either. ;-(

Magic Bus was never an official U.K album. It was U.S. In the U.K we had The Who Direct hits released in 1968.

I'd send the Quadrophenia CD back if I got that annoying tape on the actual digipak and it ripped it, that is very frustrating for you :( One of the reasons why I'm not a fan of Universal "deluxe edition" sets as they put on very strange tape 'belly-bands' (as I believe they're known as!) - but The Who - what a band!!

I often wish I liked The Who. I have tried. Some of their songs are undeniably great i've just never managed to get into them. I suspect it might be down to Daltrey's voice more than anything.
