So glad you are doing some of The Who's early music from the 60's. They have so many great songs such as "I Can't Explain", "The Kids Are Alright", "My Generation", "Substitute", "I Can See For Miles", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Baba O'Riley", "Behind Blue Eyes", "Boris The Spider", "Pictures Of Lily", "Magic Bus", "Who Are You", "Pinball Wizard" etc.

The last of three great singles released in the UK by their new record label "Reaction" in 1966. The other two are "Substitute" and "I'm A Boy". All three have lyrics with great subject matter and a certain amount of wit. 1966 also saw an EP from Reaction with the "Batman Theme" on it 🤡 Good year.

Dean nice request dude. This was a great little diddy by The Who. Just a creative and fun song. Entwistle with some great bass, and Keith Moon does his thang. Another cool tune unlike The Who's usual repertoire is there '75 single "Squeeze Box". Lot's of sexual inuendo references in the song, but a Squeeze Box is an accordion, and Townsend said he wrote this song after buying an accordion one Saturday afternoon.

I've heard it said that this song is one of the few in which the drums become a lead instrument. John Entwistle preforms similar magic with his bass on "The Real Me" on the album Quadrophenia.

I have been waiting a very long time for someone to react to this song, Keith Moon's performance on this song was light years ahead of it's time no drummer up to this point had ever played the drums. Keith laid down the future of drumming.

@@williameckert1623 - The Beatles threw so many different styles at him as they evolved and he adapted to every one. If you listen to either Paul or Ringo in isolation you can identify the song. Saying Keith Moon stole the show is like saying the sun rises in the east. However, don't discount that thumping bass by Entwistle which is just genius in song. Another great song that isn't their typical fare is "A Quick One (While He's Away)" which I highly, highly recommend.

the early The Who were a machine of making great singles, it's one phenomenal song after the other. I think that's the reason why their 60s era is kind of forgotten, except for mods and other types of freaks. But really, if you put all those singles together, the becoming album would be as good as Tommy, Who's Next or Quadrophenia
@dii62662 жыл бұрын
Love it - especially knowing it's Keith doing it. And the tone is nice. I wonder if the song influenced later drummers who are sometimes accused of over-drumming like Neil Peart and Terry Bozio. I got no problem with over-drumming.

The WHO….. “The Kids Are Alright” Tour 1989. Rich Stadium Buffalo N.Y…….. AWESOME After the concert the Who were being interviewed on the local radio station and the DJ asked the band…. “So what do you think about that new RAP music coming out”…. Roger Daltrey laughed and started to answer when John Entwistle said….. “let me answer this one….. It seems to me that if you can’t write music, can’t play music, can’t sing music, if you know absolutely nothing at all about music, well then, you do rap now don’t you”….. Then. Pete Townshend said….. “If Hitler was going to come back and torture the world again he would use rap music. Roger Daltrey laughed and said…. “Isn’t that the truth”

This song is very "Beatle-esque." from the same time period as "Day Tripper", and "Ticket to Ride." and other Beatles songs. I'm not saying The Who was stealing from The Beatles, or vice versa, just saying that Bands have done this, since the beginning of Rock and Roll. I really like The Who's early stuff from the mid 60s, as much as their later music from the 70s when they were right there with Led Zeppelin and The Stones. Great "Classic Rock" era Band.
