I saw this tour in Camden, NJ, and it was the best concert I have seen by The Who (I have seen them 12 or 13 or so times. Plus Daltrey solo 3 times, Entwistle solo 2 times, and Townshend solo 1 time).

I saw Camden as well. I felt mine they were ageless and I didn’t think they still be somewhat relevant 23 years later !

Zak was awesome here, his playing on My Wife is very much something Moonie would approve of.

It's really shocking how much worse Zak plays with The Who now (on their current tour). Now, he doesn't appear to know the original parts, and just hacks out repetitive, uninspired fills that have zero musicality or connection to the original parts. HERE, he's a revelation - true in spirit to the originals, creative and musical. I wonder what happened to him.

@@reapersaurus I think one of the problems is that now, Zak has to use an electronic kit, I assume due to Pete and Roger's hearing issues. As a drummer, I can tell you that it feels VERY different to play on even the nicest of electronic kits; the mesh heads (or pads) feel and respond differently, and the cymbals aren't nearly as expressive. Electronic kits have their place, but from the recent videos I've seen, it sounds awful with the Who. If I were Zak, I'd be bored trying to bang away at a lifeless electronic kit as well. So maybe that's part of it? I can't watch the recent videos long enough to say much about his actual drumming, because the electronic drums sound so awful.

It's sad. I wish I saw them in the late nineties to 2001 era. I was too young. I'd say it's the best lineup since Moon died. Especially in the late nineties when they were playing as a stripped down four piece.

I saw them at Shoreline that year (same week, as I recall). Great show! Here, Roger’s voice seems to take to the Valley’s warm air. He sounds strong from the start.

I absolutely loved this tour. Just the five of them-not a superhyped “reunion” tour. Just a working band on tour. For me, this was the remedy I needed after the bloated 1989 tour.

Saw them for the first time in Dallas 1989 (cotton bowl) and was somewhat disappointed. 11 years later, saw them in Dallas and was blown away and how powerful the show was. Seen them many times since, but this was the best show. @@kevinhogue5071

Kind of a shame to lose the last bow. It's difficult to say whether there was any more music after this last song here. Obviously Pete had some kind of technical problems and had to even switch guitars. But I was thinking that even compared to Middle 70s Who with Keith massacring the drums, this particular incarnation might have been the best Who ever. Zach Starkey is an amazing drummer. He hits hard and he has time and he plays his kit like a madman but his own style of madman. It's a brilliant set and it reminds exactly how much music these guys made. And of course you just don't hear this crashing guitar anymore. Pete was an amazing textural player. Thanks for posting this. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did but I stayed all the way till the end. Full thumbs up!

1989 tour was an ensemble show with a horn section, back up singers, second guitar player and percussionist; I saw them at the Cotton Bowl in 89 and was slightly disappointed. Saw them 11 years later in Denver in 2000 and POW- The Who were back! 5 piece band that put on a phenomenal show.
