I was 6 when I saw Top of the Pops and Keith bashing the hell out of his drum kit on "I Can See For Miles" No other drummer was like that-they just gently tapped the skins and cymbals a bit-but Keith Moon?!!? I'd bash the hell out of anything I could improvise as a drum kit-drove the parents mad !! And in later years I realised how extraordinary and ground breakingly excellent Keith Moon's drumming was on that track to name but one and how there is no comparison to it anywhere

It's only now -- and I've seen this video for years and even "The Kids are Alright" in the theater -- that I'm realizing that they filmed a performance specifically for this video. This wasn't them mimicking the words to the song, they performed this. So we got to see an actual performance of a Who song as if we're in the studio that day. And they did this back in 1978, before MTV really got going. What a wonderful gift, an original performance that will last nearly forever.

I like 'Soho hole' better. Roger probably said this a few times. I lived the Tubes life for a few days, it is bazaar still. In the language here, I found myself asking if the dead on the underground trains were asking Who they were - silently going to work and drunken revelry hour later. From the US, I certainly wondered looking at them and myself just Who we are.

From what I’ve seen of other stuff around this time, he had lost it a bit. This particular performance is an exception, as it was probably a bit easier to manage him in a studio setting, but he definitely wasn’t the powerhouse he was in the late 60’s-early 70’s. To me he is the best and most unique drummer ever to pick up sticks, but the drugs and perhaps everyone telling him how great he was had started to diminish him as a player by this point.

He used to carry around with him a letter from one of the Syke hospital they sent him to, to prove he was clinically sane, 🤣 he was as mad has a March hair. But boy he could play the drums better than anyone, the only three to come close where BONHAM, GINGER BAKER and CHARLIE, JESUS the four of them are up playing in the GREAT GIG IN THE SKY for the BIG MAN what a show that must be. PEACE BE WITH YOU MY FRIEND'S. ✌️✌️✌️😎😎😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The intensity of Moon, Townsend and Daltrey is balanced by the steadiness of Entwistle. Brilliant version

Love how his mannerisms when he's playing the guitar are there on the piano too.

Keith steals the show. Truly one of the greatest drummers to ever live. He does more than keep the tempo, he matches guitar riffs and vocals and it shows with how aggressively he plays. He makes the drums more of an accompaniment than just a time keeper. Beautiful

@@cbennett196631 Keith is definitely in my top ten. No doubt. He is in a league of his own when it comes to how he approaches drumming. He is certainly unique

Y'know what's hilarious? All that footage of Keith in front of a mic, and all the footage is of him doing everything BUT singing. That's funny, right there.
