The movie definitely improved upon the musical. So many things in the musical is rushed but it's given a lot of time to breathe in the movie. I hope they can fix even more things in Part 2, because even though Act 2 of the musical is fun, it's also very messy and full of plot-holes.

In my opinion, the problems with the narrative of Wicked only arise in Act 2, but Act 1 is great, and this movie even improved it ☺️

Some notes about the movie that u didn't mention: 1) Ariana and Cynthia sung the songs LIVE, basically they never recorded the singing in the studio, instead when they recorded their lines they also sung the songs (And Cynthia did her own stunts, idk if Ariana did her own stunts as well) 2) The sets for the movie wasn't CGI. Like the barbie movie, they built sets for it as well, like the school, they had to grow 9millions tulips for that scene 7:08, etc The movie was incredible I'm so excited for the second part!!!

I know this movie is long but knowing the musical, I think all the added scenes helped a lot. In the musical, I thought Glinda and Elphaba went from enemies to friends in one day and everything feels like it happens so fast. In this movie you can feel like the time is passing. Also considering how I personally don't like some plot points of the second act in the musical, I really hope they make some changes because this movie did a great job and I want to see it flourish
@MaxMallardАй бұрын
I had followed none of the pre-release stuff for this movie, but Wicked was the first musical I really got into. When I heard popular playing in a store I was instantly worried by how poppy it sounded, thinking it's alright if that's just the way Galinda sings,since it does fit her character, and not indicative of all the songs. I was very relieved to learn it was a stylistic choice specific to her, and how Ariana was able to switch from pop to an operatic quality as Glinda. Wanting both acts together is definitely fair, but I was quite glad to see they split it into two parts. It gives the plot the time needed to breathe that you don't really get in movies cramming a full musical into one film. A method that makes more money for the companies while giving more to the fans. A win-win! Also, the Menzel and Chenoweth cameos were such a delight to see, especially the way their inclusion was handled so fun and seamlessly.

Well Idina Menzel and Adam Lambert, and Broadway actors taking on these roles in general are tough acts to follow, in terms of singing voice. But I did enjoy the singing. The leading ladies held their own. Also in the movie I liked the acting of the two leading actresses. I thought they pulled off the comedy and dramatic moments well! I’ll admit when I heard Anthony from Bridgerton was playing Fiyero I had my doubts but props to his charisma and whoever did his wardrobe and hair 👍

@@i3qyi😅 uh...no? they're both phenomenal and extremely talented with gorgeous voices but sound very different. Why feel the need to put one woman down to compliment another? I don't think either of them would appreciate that at all, since they support each other and have respect for one another. you should learn some manners. Idina is a legend, an icon, a brilliant actress herself. I've been listening to the original cast recording since high school, millions of people cherish it and love her performance. I prefer the way she sings defying gravity, I'm not a fan of Cynthia's added riffs, just because i prefer the original. I've seen it on and off Broadway multiple times and all Elphaba's are amazing! It's just personal preference, it's subjective, because they all have to be highly skilled to even get the part. My friend in high school that was obsessed with Wicked too, found some German versions and she ended up liking those the most at the time. Wicked fans all have their own favorite Elphaba's and favorite Galindas. it's completely fine to prefer Cynthia's over idina's but it's not okay to be rude and insinuate that one is more talented than the other because that is simply untrue and not based in reality. 🩷🫧💚✨
@i3qyiАй бұрын
@marigolden_mariposa you literally just admitted that you're biased toward idina because it was the original, and having working ears is not subjective. i never said idinas was bad, i said cynthias is better. that's not putting one down, that raising another above. learn english

Having seen both the musical and the movie, I have to agree, the musical is weaker in terms of dialogue. They’ve added notes and exposition to the story here that didn’t exist in the original, which was largely moving between songs and having them tell the story. The Madame Morrible and Wizard beats and heel turn are a lot less prevalent and foreshadowed in the musical, and the prophecy song number in the Emerald City was actually created for the movie to provide more backstory (and a fun number.) The book, by the way, is its own thing, very dark, and very different from the movie or musical with very different characterizations for everybody.
@happyclam1266Ай бұрын
The music, dancing, and visuals were always fantastic in the play but I felt like there was almost too much busy story in it. Some of it gets buried. That is NOT the case in the movie, at all.
