There are times or circumstances when it was necessary because of poverty but I hate that these people put their kids in the position of child labor on purpose. I rhink its really sweet that the Internet queers could come together to help someone in their time of need, even though that person wouldnt have done the same for them. Our community really showed her how to love people and it makes me cry still. I was also supposed to be on wife swap. Lack of sex ed and sexual repression coupled results in adults who often sleep around more (unprotected) they they would have if they were taught how to have safe sex and at least have the option, it usually causes a quick marriage so they can sleep together and then those often end unhappily or they get engaged and try to get married before the baby starts showing- it’s ridiculous (i don’t think teens need to have a lot of sex necessarily or even immediately- but forbidden behaviors are often the most tempting)

The scariest thing with any show where people look like they're about to go completely unhinged is that there generally are 2-3 people there behind the camera. So imagine what they are like with no camera around (like the dad hitting the daughter incident). re people that you're used to seeing and wanting to reach through the camera: The area that I'm in in Pennsylvania very recently lost a local journalist/television reporter. She was only 42, was this sassy, tough, compassionate powerhouse, and two weeks before Christmas opted out of life. The first week was unreal. I was worried that my mom and I were nuts because when it was announced on the nightly news, we both kind of shrieked and started sobbing. Come to find out, the entire region of people who watched her felt the same way. Her co-anchor got 10,000 messages that first week. They had the 7pm time slot where they'd cover the news and weather and then fun and/or important stuff. That first week, which was handled remarkably well both for her coworkers and the audience, that week was as amazing as it was rough, because, yeah, I can't imagine there wasn't a person who didn't want to reach through the screen and keep it from happening. ✌🏻

I’ve heard about this murder case multiple times. It’s kinda mildly infamous in terms of true crime content, and for obvious reasons. Everyone around those boys failed them, and it’s heart breaking. I’ve never heard about that last case though. And frankly, it REALLY angers me. We need more strict and specific laws behind different types of abuse. Considering how common religious abuse is, we need something to help protect people, especially children from that. Frustrating doesn’t even begin to describe those types of cases. I hate that something abhorrent and tragic has to happen in order for anything to be done about these sort of situations. And even then, the justice that gets served is usually extremely shallow and short lived. It just puts victims into more danger after it’s all said and done. It’s sad, and you’d think we’d understand the patterns and consequences by now. But apparently all the cases that keep occurring are never enough to spark a change. Absolutely infuriating.

when that man was shouting at the woman and the his kid, putting her in the middle... Thats what my step dad used to do to my mom and siblings. He also used to physically abuse all of us. So i dont want to assume anything.. BUT.. that really brought me right back to that time. I wouldnt be surprised if he actually physically abuses the kids and his wife. .. i wonder what happened with them.

What you're saying about watching the episode while knowing what happens reminds me of when I learned about what happened to Judith Blarsi. I asked my gram about who she was and what happened when I saw the dedication to her at the end of All Dogs Go to Heaven. I was really young at the time and it really shook me up. She deserved so much better 😢

The show wrote scripts for the families, oftentimes creating fake family issues as well. Many families have come out and spoke on their experiences, can find some here on YT. Not all families stuck to the script though and many were unhappy with their experiences on the show. Anyways, gotta watch the video now, I have not yet heard of this case. Thanks for the video and Happy New Year to all 🎉

Typing this comment as I watch, I guess it's commentary huh 😂 1. 8:06 That lady said she hypnotized the girl I don't think that's okay to do, if I was mom I would have felt justifiably upset if someone hypnotized my child without my knowledge 2. 8:17 clearly this lady is off the deep end! We call it fundamentalism but really it's one side of the deep end. Very dramatic she should have been an actress 😅 3. That little boy that likes chicken nuggets is a vibe, I love it

it’s so interesting what these religious groups consider evil but how many times do we come across cases of abuse with cult-like conditions masquerading as pure and good religious family? Some of these families kept kids in cages or just completely isolate them from the world but best of all, teach their kids some superiority complex as well either towards sexism or racism or both. I really think the resolve is that we legally hold parents more accountable with sentencing that they can actually fear and the investigation process isn’t always doubting the kid. If there’s disbelief in the abuse claims then just do the same thing you would in any criminal situation and begin surveillance. Many people proved their abuse because they had to conduct their own surveillance which shouldn’t be the norm. Same for corrupt cops, medical physicians and nurses.. even pedophilia. They all have extremely light sentencing and people wonder why these sorts of cases of corruption, malpractice are all too common! Even cases where a pedo would admit to more than 300 cases of SA only to end up serving barely 6mo in prison with a cloaked identity when he’s free too. These monsters know the law and don’t have too much to fear. Especially parents who can just claim the kid is mental and making it up. Authorities are so much more likely to say the kid is lying and a brat especially if the kid is absent or failing or being rebellious because of the abuse. Even the Turpin case- moment she started trying to explain her abuse- the only question the officer has for her is if she’s currently high😐 Then they walk into the turpin home and those parents don’t seem that scared. If the officers didn’t remain hyper vigilante and searched blocked and hidden areas then they easily would have got away with it like jenn and sarah hart case. The social workers and police are definitely apart of the abusive parent tactics. The kid has nowhere to turn AND because they typically send the kid back after the first report of abuse- oh what a shock how many times that kid ends up dead? Their kid is the snitch/traitor in their mind and these sick fucks make the legal decision to put them back in the home! All of them bear responsibility; police, social workers and the judges who put them back only for them to wind up dead. Even the r kelly case exposed how members of the chicago police dpt protected him! None of them faced consequences for it. It’s too easy to be abusive when you know the system is more likely to protect the parent . So many kids get taken out of abusive homes and the abusive parents are never even charged.

8:25 when I was a teenager I went to the Vatican. I was a student ambassador. We were invited in to sit and pray after being spoken to by a priest there. I quietly decided to sit in the back by myself and wait as I was an atheist at the time. I was berated by one of the chaperones with us, and told I NEEDED to go up and “just pretend”. At fifteen years old I had a mental understanding of how wrong that was. It was, in my opinion, quite insulting and felt like making a mockery. One of the priests had overheard this disagreement and asked to sit and speak to me alone while everyone went up and did their thing. We were sitting in this very very small chapel room with just maybe five benches on each side. Very old, very small. Anyways, he immediately commented how he respected fully my “maturity and wisdom” to not make a mockery of the lord. I felt quite vindicated having this priest say it was the right decision because faking it especially here, would’ve been making a mockery. The thing that really stuck with me was how accepting, welcoming, and loving he was in his approach. It was very much so “I think you’re still a great person with a moral compass and I believe god loves you wholly and is proud of you already”. This.. wasn’t the norm I’d experienced within the Catholic Church prior. But this approach made me more receptive to the word of god than any other. I engaged in conversation, true, honest, difficult conversation and didn’t feel an ounce of judgment. This man approached me as equals. Spiritual equals. One thing that also really stayed with me was how he said those who damn others to hell, or tell others they’re going to hell are actually massive sinners in need of repenting. Only god can judge us. We are all meant to just love and embrace each other. In gods eyes, this woman is doing the exact opposite of what she should be doing. This man told me how when he encountered prisoners who’d done awful things, he was a bit scared. But god apparently told him “love them harder than you fear them” and he walked into that prison head high and a smile on his face, and the prisoners he met with sensed his welcoming and calm, judgment free demeanor and were the most receptive and respectful they’d ever been. The prison guards were shocked. That’s how it should be. This woman has it all wrong.

Anyone remember the episode where there was one family who would spank their kids with a piece of leather called “the whacker”? They were also uber strict, making the kids do all the housework, homeschooled them and eat a strict healthy diet. When the new mom had her week, she let them be normal kids and cut up the whacker which pissed off the dad. There’s a scene where the kids are all hyper in the car and he wanted to spank them and the new mom had to pull him over and tell him no. Wonder how those kids are doing today

There was an episode of one of these shows where the family made a hope that a child went into some sort of balloon and was swept away. At the time the local news got involved and everyone thought the kid was in the balloon. Turns out the parents staged the whole thing to try to get famous!
