I like that they didn't shy away from the brutality of nature; the crab getting snatched by the bird, Brightbill's birth mother and family getting k!lled, when Fink the fox found animals that didn't make it during the snowstorm, etc.. This is something I don't expect anyone relating to, but when I first watched it in theaters, I read through the credits and got loudly excited when I found out Dee Bradley Baker was credited in this movie, because that doesn't happen to voice actors, usually they're just credited as additional voices (also I loved that Lupita Nyong'o was credited for both Roz and Rummage) lol

If you didn't know it's based off of a book series, there are a lot of changes, but I'd say nothing compared to the changes from the HTTYD book (3 books so far, unsure if there are more planned since I only read the first to avoid spoilers for the next movie)
@elgranmanco8201
@elgranmanco8201 3 күн бұрын
@@andalilbitqueer how much Is the changes? I know that HTTYD was like, 75% changes or some like that, how much are we talking here?
@andalilbitqueer
@andalilbitqueer 2 күн бұрын
@@elgranmanco8201 the basic structure of the story is i'd say 70-80% the same; there are a lot of characters combined or removed altogether; and there a lot of the characters don't have as much prominence in the book compared to the movie. I'd recommend reading the book, it's a very easy read owing to the fact that it's, on average, 1 page per chapter. ***spoilers*** Some changes I'd like to note of -Roz isn't a task assistant robot, she has no idea what she is. -Fink isn't a main character, he basically only appears in the beginning and the end. -she tries to survive by mimicking a praying mantis' survival strategy and staying still; after staying still for so long, she learns how to speak a universal animal language that's described something along the lines of (i dont fully remember) music but sung through different instruments. -they cut out Brightbill's bestfriend, a squirrel named Chitchat (I assume the part where he tries befriending a squirrel in the movie is a reference) -Pinktail isn't a mom, and teaches Roz how to play dead to avoid predators instead of how to raise Brightbill. -Paddler is the son of a pair of beavers who willingly help Roz build a home and later a leg when she loses it in, iirc, a bear attack. -Thorn has a sister, and they both hate Roz and try to kill her, their mom intervenes and thorn almost dies in an accident. Roz saves him and they apologize. -Brightbill is informed about Roz killing his family in an accident a lot earlier, and he doesn't feel betrayed. He does get into an rift with her when he wants to find out where she comes from, but Roz is too afraid of what they'll find if they visit the gravesite she washed up on. -Roz builds multiple homes to keep animals safe in winter, she establishes a winter truce inside the cabins that was an extension of a truce that already existed, iirc, in the morning. -they test turning her off, and it's one of my favorite moments of the book. -The world is a lot less advanced, with a lot of different types of robots, but a lot less OP; I think this can be shown by the fact that while in the movie Roz was 1 of 6 units lost, in the books it was 1 of 500. -there's no distress signal, the robot company spot her when they made a huge torch to party the night Brightbill comes back from migration. -there are three "RECO" bots that come to retrieve Roz and they're all less advanced with normal rifles instead of attached weaponry. -Roz loses both legs and an arm at the end, which is the reason she willingly gets recollected. -Longneck's death feels more impactful to the story by the way it's written; in the book, he gets shot by a farmer with a shotgun when he tries to defend his flock. When the RECO bot comes to take a legless Roz, the flock grab the Reco's shotgun and it's described as something like "it wasn't sure if they knew what they were doing or knew how to fire the gun, but they did, because they'd one used before.

I believe the reason both The Wild Robot and Transformers One weren’t heavily marketed is that the studios likely assumed they wouldn’t be major box office hits. Both films- Transformers One included - were created primarily to tell a story, not to promote merchandise. Unfortunately, that’s just the reality of the industry. Animation is so expensive that studios often rely on merchandise sales to turn a profit. In other words, unless you're a Disney princess, a famous superhero, or a beloved mascot like SpongeBob, you're not earning anything.

If there's a movie that deserves the Best Animated Feature award. It would be this. It's a beautiful movie, and that's still understating it. I rarely cry in movies, and if I do, it's usually one time and that's a maximum. The Wild Robot broke that recors and made my cry, like ugly cry, three times and tear up more than I can count. Everything in this movie was phenomenal! The story, the dialogue, the animation, even the music is absolutely incredible. A movie of this caliber deserves more for than just the Best Animated Feature award, it needs to be nominated for Best Picture overall.

I am really glad something like this is doing well, because if these types of movies fail, we are destined to just get sequels to popular movies all the time. aka low risk stuff. This movie visually represents 'the power of love' without directly shoving it down your throat. Roz doesn't even seem to acknowledge when their lights change to yellow and pink, which clearly represent the bond between her and Brightbill and the fact that she's totally unaware of it until the very end. Even if it's a deus ex machina, it feels so earned when Roz wakes back up to tell her boy she loves him. In terms of critique, the one thing I really would have liked to see would be some sort of visual or direct acknowledgement of Roz's modification of their code besides the VERY brief use of the ipad-esque control pannel that they use to set their learning mode to learn Animal speak. But overall I am incredibly satisfied with this movie and can't wait to watch it properly with my whole family.

Incredible movie, and I can’t think of a more poignant film to close a chapter of Dreamworks’ history. This is their last film produced in house for the foreseeable future, they’ll be outsourcing to Sony from now on (the fact that Dreamworks just unionized and Imageworks is a Canadian non union studio surely has nothing to do with it) A couple details like Roz’s processor being called A113 (famous animation classroom) and the company that made her is Universal Dynamics (Universal Studios and Comcast own and oversee Dreamworks now) gives the entire film this unique air of rebellion against the state of the industry, while it’s still telling a very touching and gorgeous story first and foremost… I feel safe in saying it might be the best film they’ve done to date

Wooo! I watched this at the movies and have already ordered a DVD. It'll be arriving at new years 😁 totally worth it. First movie I've seen in cinemas in forever too. The moment I saw the trailer I knew I had to see it. Same director as Lilo and stitch and how to train your dragon and the croods. I love all of those movies.

I actually went to the theaters to see this and was kinda upset that nobody was talking about it. Maybe now it'll get the recognition it deserves.

I realized that the humans looked at Roz’s memories but don’t care that she can speak to animals. Or that the animals can talk at all.
