I loved the way the story developed and the suspense grew. The feelings of isolation, growing tension, and mistrust between the two companions gave the story a great arc. It was a pleasure to narrate.

This is suspense...not modern horror.. blood and guts and graphic violence 3 seconds in. It's what's make it a genuinely uncanny and frightening story.... It has to build up from 0 to proper scary over time.

I had heard about this story because from what I understand it has inspired quite a few relatively modern bio-horror pieces. And yes, it looked better as a 1 page plot description. For its age the idea is good but true, the first half is a waste.

@paulbrown89568 жыл бұрын
Richard, I *am* from the UK and I fail to see what your problem is with the narration. Peter Bishop did a great job with this wonderful story, and I'm bemused by your "Posh boy" comment - what were you expecting? There are way too many audio stories doing the rounds that have been ruined by poor and unprofessional narration and here we have a superb performance from a professional voice artist. If you abandoned this for no better reason than disagreeing with his pronunciation of "Budapest" (and a bit of inverse snobbery?) then you've cheated yourself.

unfortunately, I fell asleep during AB's story because I felt it was more like a geography lesson which droned on interminably about the characteristics of the river Danube instead of pressing on with the plot. The narration, however, was first class. Sorry, but give me M. R. James any day.
