Jets need to figure out their prospect management. Losing a guy like this. Unacceptable. How many times do we have to ruin our super good draft picks by not developing them properly, whilst also giving them NHL minutes. Heinola, Perfettis been mismanaged in my opinion, and now Rutger. Future captain we all thought.

About time for jets fans to organize and start putting some pressure in management. That´s how things happen down here in Brazil, whenever team directors or managers start to make stupid decisions our "ultras" bring up a protest and make these people realize the team is not theirs only, they have to respect fans inteligence and make sure the team tries their best to retain good talent and players that have a good impact on the community and fan base.

@@oozyalmond7079 I understand the culture around sports is very different, lived in Winnipeg for 2.5 years and always felt a bit awkward that a small city with a team in a big league didn't have a more vibrant fan base. I still think you guys could work something out, I never attended a Jets game because I was too expensive for me, people who can't afford a ticket but are still willing to support the club should be organizing and finding ways to get together and support their team. A natural consequence would be the growth of these groups and pressure would be built so management becomes more professional and reliable. But I'm probably being too optimistic...

Rutger seems to confuse the Jets (a top 10 team) with the Ducks or the Blackhawks (bottom feeder teams)... where is buddies got ice time at the end of last season. Of course he didn't get guaranteed time heading into the playoffs last season, which is what he demanded. Other top 10 teams wouldn't throw a rookie right into the fire out of college into the NHL playoffs. I realize this is not any concern for young McGrorty, but the Jets were in it to win. The Jets were all in .. and made big trades for veteran players heading into the playoffs, along with other contending playoff teams. Bottom feeder teams are developing young players, because they aren't hunting for a playoff position. Rutger didn't get his ELC at the end of last season because there was no room, and now his ego is bruised and he wants out.

I can see telling him that he would likely start in the AHL and not guarantee an NHL spot. He has not played any games in the Jets system for them to evaluate how he does against pro vs against college and junior players. He would have to earn an NHL position in training camp. I am not saying he is not NHL ready, he just has to prove it in training camp. I can also see the Jets not bringing him in when they were fighting for first in the division, as he would probably not get into any of those games or the playoff games. So other than being a black ace practice player he would not get much development. I also get his point of view as well not wanting to be stuck in the AHL for a long time. And I don't think he would be there long unless he ran into major injury troubles. He maybe be the Jets no. 1 prospect according to the media right now, but Lambert and Chibrikov would currently be ahead of him on the depth chart. He might fit in on the 3rd or fourth line to start the season but who do you move out to make space? I see Lambert taking Ehlers spot if he gets traded and Chibrikov taking Iafallo's or Barron's. Of course if Monahan does not resign that opens up a top 6 spot to Battle for.

@@lordrayden3045 I wouldn't cry if he walks away. I'm just saying how can you guarantee an NHL spot for a player that has never played a regular or post season NHL game, taking a job from an existing player who earned the spot over others who are playing in the AHL, just because that player thinks he is NHL ready.

@@scottturner4676 Everything I’ve read says he’s a future captain, junior champion, etc Also high level NCAA hockey is as good or better than the NHL. If you believe he’s going to be good, you say “ok” and put him on the NHL roster. If you think he’s not ready, then he’d be an idiot to sign for an AHL deal. Just play the year in college and walk as a UFA. On top of this embarrassment, the jets have killed any trade value as well

Where are you getting this information from? Its a very strong opinion- but is this a fact?? My guess is that if this as true at all- it's more plausible that McGroarty simply doesn't want to play in Winnipeg. I can't see the Jets/Chevy dumping him when there is such a simple fix (just play him, dump Appleton hopefully). I love your posts but unless you state where you're getting this information, I can't believe this is true at all.

I don't think the Jets are wrong to not GUARANTEE a spot to Rutger. If he won a spot over Appleton, Barron, Iafallo and was still with the Moose then he has every right to be upset. We get mad at the Ville situation because by every metric he should have gotten the opportunity that has gone to Stanley. No prospect has a right to an NHL roster spot. Ville is right to be mad because he's been stuck behind a worse player. Perfetti has a right to be mad because he was scratched during offensive woes while being a 20-goal scorer. What has Rutger done to earn the right to be mad before he ever competed for a Jets job for 1 second?
