Come to think of it, his vague accent makes sense. It sounds part Danish(his natural tongue) part British, Irish, and sometimes just off. Why this makes sense is this guy is like 200+ years old. When he learned to speak his native tongue/dialect it was what is “Ild English” to us now. So he simply doesn’t speak/pronounce Common like eveyone else does in present, 1263 or something.

When it came out they said it's more faithful to the book based on the description of chestnut or whatever, when her looks changed they said it the same thing. Netflix is not taking anything from the book lore wise, they created a parody of the books, many storyline are just missing in this series, which is supposedly vital for this franchise, the casts are horrible, yet this 'fans' keep defending this series like crazy

There are a lot of things in this adaptation of sapkowski's works that are inaccurate to the source material but even if you excuse all the liberties taken to enjoy this show for what it is there are a lot of stupid decisions made with the characters and by characters I don't only mean their original counterparts from the books and who they are supposed to be but also who they are written as from netflix it self. Let me explain; Vesemir is built up in nightmare of the wolf as being this character that wants to correct the mistakes of his predecessors and make witchers actually better men, he takes Geralt Coen Eskel and lambert in when they are kids to teach them how to be witchers and better men and essentially tries to become A better father and mentor than deglan was to him. Which means that of all people he should be the first person to understand Geralt's decision of taking ciri in as his ward because he has been in his shoes before and everyone knows it. As for eskel isnt given as much depth as his book counterpart but he is set up as Geralt's childhood friend and the witcher that is closest to him in both the show and the books, which means that the producers' choice to make him a complete and utter asshole towards ciri and making him criticizing his childhood friend for his choice of raising her makes absolutely no sense as he should be the first one to support him in his decision. In fact not that many people know this because not taht many people have played the forst witcher game but there is a DLC in which we see how eskel got his scar after his own daughter of surprise mawled him with her fingernails - a girl which was aslo a princess that wanted to become a witcheress actually - and although this isn't canon to the books - it is more believable to me that eskel would've "played knight" and acted probably the same way as Geralt if a Princess was given to him as a child of surprise, because in the books and games his physical appearance is a big part of his character as his deformed cheek gives off the impression that he is some sort of savage when in reality he is shown to be a gentleman towards triss in the books and games and doesn't give off the slightest impression that he would do anything different other than be respectful towards women. If there was really gonna be someone that would've criticized geralt for taking achild of surprise that would only be Lambert who is known to be rude towards people even though he would die for those he cares about (infact i think they got lambert right in the show which is an absolute joy) but the irony is that even he doesn't criticize geralt for it in the books or games so i dont get why they had to make so much drama out of something that witchers are practically known for...

It is so tragic that it is ridiculous that in the book, during Ciri's training, she was taught that she must not hit wooden beams with a sword because it can be chipped or broken. And here an experienced witcher does what he should not, for the creators it is important that it is "spectacular", it is a pity that it is illogical. Why can't they approach the source material responsibly and create a decent piece of good fantasy.

Great Vesemir casting. First I've thought to myself - "yeah, they nailed that one." Cavill as Geralt is fine but not great - he's a name but tbh it's just so uninspired. He's greatly lacking in the innately rough edges essential to the role. Imo Sam Heughan would have been the ideal, and his Outlander co-star Caitriona Balfe an even more perfect fit for Yen. But ah well, that's an adaptation now left forever to the imagination.
