I grew up loving this movie & Nicolas Roeg is my favourite director. I'd argue with anyone to this day that this is the scariest children's horror film ever made. Some genuine scary & also very creepy moments. The Erica story in the beginning is very creepy. I still think this is a scarier horror in many ways than a lot that have been made for adult audiences.

I’m in my mid 30’s now but I worked at this hotel for a few years back in 2006-2009 as a waiter/porter. Lot of good memories! As a huge fan of the movie as a kid I was obviously so stoked I was able to get a job there even if it did mean relocating at the time. Other than some licks of paint here and there it’s barely changed!

I remember letting my girls watch this movie, a tad too young lol. They got totally freaked out😂. Oh did y'all notice the squirrels running down the power lines near the front of the school?? I know they aren't mice or rats but I guess maybe in a way they are. One splits off and runs toward the school the other keeps going straight. There was a slew of incredible "childrens'" movies in the 80's--Something Wicked This Way Comes, Return to Oz, Black Cauldron, The Witches, The Neverending Story, all the Jim Henson films--that just wouldn't get made today.
