Frank Baum gave her one hundred and nineteen years ago; it's originally a Welsh name meaning "bright" and "good." It may also be a portmanteau on his part, combining "glint," "glitter," and "glimmer" with the euphony of the name Linda. The only people who call her "Glenda" are people who get her name wrong. And again, Glinda did not destroy the WWE's body; it dried up in the sun, as the book says.

Third degree on her right hand and second degree on her face; a stagehand put her under a sink to wash her face, so it was okay, but her hands were pretty badly scarred and she had to wear gloves for some scenes. But she was a trouper, was Maggie Hamilton, and the show went on.

In the context of the movie, Oz is all a dream, and the characters she meets there are her subconscious impressions of people she knows in real life. The Wicked Witches are based on local busybody Almira Gulch.

Surprised how the wicked witch of the west didn’t die she was supposed to go through the trap door when the fire when on but the trap door was stuck and was set on fire due to her make up which was made of copper and copper is really bad for ur skin and cause skin burn by its self and was very bad if to fire

It wasn't a trap door, it was an elevator, and it worked fine; the problem was that the flames went up too soon. The way it was supposed to work was that she would be under the stage when the flames erupted, and that was how the first take went, but then they did some retakes, and that was when things went wrong. But Miss Hamilton survived (obviously) and finished her work like the tough lady she was, and she loved the movie for the rest of her life, and even played the WWW many more times on stage and T.V.

Where did you read that? The two wicked witches are only sisters in this movie and in "The Wiz." In "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz," Glinda (not "Glenda"), the Good Witch of the South, is the sister of Tattypoo, the Good Witch of the North. In the books, none of them are related.

No, Glinda (not "Glenda") has one quarter of Oz to rule, and that's fine for her. As you seem to have forgotten, the Wizard left the Scarecrow in command of the whole of Oz. Two unlawful dictators were killed, both by accident, and one at the behest of that same Wizard. The Tin Woodman filled the void left by the WIcked Witch of the West when he became the Emperor of the Winkie Country.

An example of why the wich of the west was the worse of the two was well illustrated in oz the great and powerful. Evanora(witch of the east was a manipulative tyrant who used the winkies and flying monkeys to terrorize the locals into submission. Theodora(witch of the west) insisted on no quarter and all the people of oz loyal to Glinda and the wizard be slaughtered with no opportunity to surrender. Also the witch of the east was innately evil the witch of the west became evil due to an enchantment that siphoned all the good out of her heart.

Third, while I'm on the subject. Mad TV epicly deconstructed this whole scenario. It's one of the few times a funny sketch actually had good points. Glinda should have told Dorothy, that she could have gotten home anytime. Her excuse that Dorothy wouldn't have believed her has more holes than Swiss cheese. As the MadTV Dorothy would say "You came in a magic bubble. I would have believed anything you said. If you told me that the only way to get home was the lick the Lollipop Guild I would have done it." Not to mention Wicked offers an alternative tale implying, that Glinda the most evil and manipulative Witch of them all.

That line has always stood in my memory the most-not to mention WWW's famous threat to Dorothy,"I'll get you,my pretty,and your little dog,too!" Even that threat has in itself become such a "masterpiece" that it has been parodied in other films-there was that Energizer bunny commercial which parodied it-the Witch saying,"I'll get you,bunny,and your little battery,too!" and even in the Xmas movie "Jingle all the way," we even hear it by Sinbad,to Arnold Schwartzenneger's son, "Come here,my pretty,you and your little doll!" Amazing,simply amazing,how the most famous quotes from hit movies can be parodied in films.

They were basically flip-flopped; Glinda became the Good Witch of the North, while Tattypoo, now the Good Witch of the South, remained unseen in this version. Of course in the original story, it was Tattypoo who met Dorothy in the Munchkin Country.
