Similar thing happened with a guy from my country, Brazil. He was working for a soccer player in the russian league, also brazilian, and was solving some situations for the athlete family here in Brazil when he was asked to buy boxes of a medicine here and take them back to Russia. Turned out that the drug was banned in Russia. He got arrested in custom, and was convicted as drug dealer and international smuggling. It took a long time for him to be released and to be allowed to come back to Brazil.

I don't watch neither the nba nor wnba, im not even american, this video showed up on my home page because i have searched information about this woman to understand what happened to her. To my understanding the problem is that she is currently illegally detained which means she is waiting for a trial that might never come, russian authorities keep postponing it, you can't detain anybody for 5 months without a trial, if they did it immediately after her arrest and was found guilty nobody could complain but they are waiting to understand if they can use her in a way that benefits them.

This is what nobody seems to mention when it comes to women's sports: Even WOMEN prefer the male version. I mean if only women cared about the WNBA and supported it, the league would be doing pretty good. But it's just plainly obvious that women basketball fans by large prefer the NBA. Women don't watch the WNBA, women don't go to their games, and women don't buy their merchandise. But whenever the WNBA is criticized, the same people pull out the "sexism" card. Wtf!?

Never. It’s not just talent. It’s a physical sport albeit not as much as rugby or American football, but the best NBA players are almost always explosively athletic and the vast majority of women can’t won’t don’t have the biology to make up for that. They can dribble and shoot and pump fake all day, but the fact that BG can barely get air between her feet and the ground and can barely fingertip dunk is…yeah…the best WNBA teams would be dwarfed by the best HS boys teams.

Could it be fixed with a shorter rim and smaller court? The players are a full 7 inches shorter and the heaviest is 195. Of course the game is a lot harder! Less shots go in when you're shorter and less powerful. That doesn't mean it couldn't be changed fundamentally and actually have a chance at being interesting.

The biggest reason I hate the "If it was Lebron" thing is because if it wasn't a professional athlete in general it wouldn't even have so much media attention. 90% of people talking about it don't even know there are other Americans being held in Russia for the same reason. There's a 61 year old teacher charged with possession of marijuana who was arrested 6 months before Brittney and his sentence is 5 years longer. (Likely because he had 4 grams instead of 1)
