I owned my own business for 25 years....61% increase in pricing to consumers/customers is criminal and price gouging . The league has their "momnt in time" and the first thing they do is step on the fans who stuck it out through being {example} 1 of 3000 in a 9,000 seat arena. 25% -35% hike would be acceptable as good business based on market ...Turn the league into "deep pockets only'' and watch their identity go in the toilet. Sue,as a minority owner in Seattle I would have thought you would have gone into a more in depth conversation about the increases. It comes with the territory and position. It's interesting as the Aces had SIX players play in the Olympics, which has to be some kind of record. It has to be hard when half of your roster is gone, and then you have to rework them back into the lineup. Plus, Megan and Tiffany had BIGGER roles with their Olympic squads, so going from being heavily relied on to less relied on has to be an adjustment for the player. And A'ja basically had the same responsibility on team USA that she has for the Aces, so, there's that.

Normally a tennis season starts with the Australian open (hard court) goes to French open (which ends the clay season) then Wimbledon (ends the grass season) and then you come back to hard courts for the us open. But this year players had to go from hard court to clay to grass back to clay for the Olympics before ending at hard court. So they didn’t have the build up on hard court that some other players did

No need for asterisks on those records. If the league is doing well and growing and the season gets longer, just acknowledge the prior record holders and move along. Otherwise we may end up with series of asterisks and footnotes on every record.

@CAS4825 ай бұрын
@@malebovinemanure There is one more bad thing CC has and that is her Defense which is non-existent. LeBron has 5,211 turnovers in 21 years of playing in the league. CC has 171 so far this year with 4 games to go, which will be near 200. If CC play 21 years at 200 per year 4200 total, but the WNBA only plays 40 games per year compared to NBA which plays 82 per year. And that means CC will have 8,200 turnovers when she is finished playing. If half of the turnovers end up with points for the other team that 8,400 points she gave to other teams during her playing time in the league. DAMN !!!!!!

I love @suebird but she shoulda brushed up on tennis if she wants to talk about it. I’m a native New Yorker and Sue’s age and the US Open used to be a bonafide New Yorker’s event so every NYer went - the exact opposite of the Empire State Building, which yes I have never been to. Now the US Open is the Times Square of Tennis, a tourist and rich person’s event and I think ruined by the giant monstrosity of Arthur Ashe Stadium. FYI- French is clay Wimbledon grass While I haven’t Googled it in ages so it may have changed again, the US Open hard Court and the Aussie Open hard courts are different. It’s why say Agassi had 4 Aussies and only 2 US Opens. Also I know that Wimbledon cuts the grass differently now than when Martina was dominating all those years ago and it either makes the ball faster or slower and the bounce height is difference.

I want to put this out here so for whatever reason I’d advise not to call me a racist. I heard this on Elle Duncan’s podcast. Let’s stop victimizing CC bc she’s not a victim bc she gets up and shows her play. Let’s talk about her accolades and NOT when she gets fouled hard (sometimes flagrant). As an elite player she doesn’t want to be known as a victim. She wants to be known for what she does on the court and how she handles herself with all this stuff AND she lets her play speak for herself. By the way, she has made a statement to her fans and basically she said she doesn’t condone any of this AND the fans and media basically needs to stop. Anyway, off my soapbox.

The increase in the price of the wnba tics needs to consider their fan base. When I watch a wnba, it’s families at the games with their kids…looks very different from watching an nba game. Do not price out those families. I’m a “cat lady” so not hugely important to me, but I love seeing the kids at the games. The teams need to make their money from tv/cable deals, sponsors, etc., like mlb.

I knew the comments were going to take exception to the contextualizing of stats and records. But it's not just the statistically literate thing to do, it's also the methodically correct way to examine the past. Sports go through qualitative changes over time. "Style" is a malleable expression of how players adapt to the competition at the time. Rules change over time. Sports medicine changes over time. Capital follows different trends at different times Other generational players have made their mark and influenced what today's generational players do. There's nothing diminishing about recognizing this.

Idk why there is no 🏀until like high school in SI. But the Catholics got teams?? So we got her on a team. Super athletic but she’s 10 and these girls been playing together since 5. So there was some hazing but whatever. She became a better bench player and went to their playoffs sick. They kinda knew when it was a wrap ,she insisted. Angel Reece is all about her stats, not about her team. She is a total attention seeker, a poor sport, and beyond rebounding, she does nothing special. Bird is much more Caitlin-like than Reece-like, so why does she keep throwing subtle shade at Caitlin and bouquets of roses at Reece's feet? I can't understand it. Bird now begrudgingly admits that Caitlin is rookie of the year, but it's been obvious for a long time. I was always a Bird fan from her college days, but not so much now. She has a weird personal bias against Caitlin and I don't understand why.
@angelaasaka3505 ай бұрын
Your bias is what is clouding your mind. How is praising one person throwing shade at another, especially if that other person was not even mentioned? Your mind is creating that. In the past few weeks Sue has been clear about CC being the ROY, how much clearer can she get? I think CC is the CLEAR ROY but that doesn't mean I can't speak to what other rookies are doing well.

@@angelaasaka350 I was referring to the absolutely uncalled for sh*t talking Bird did with her bud Taurasi after Caitlin was drafted #1. Before Caitlin had even stepped on an WNBA court they were crowing with delight about how she would struggle in the WNBA because she'd be playing grown women not young girls. Caitlin was going to get an education and be put in her place once she played against NBA women. Hmm. How'd that prediction hold up? Of course Bird is singing a different tune now (no pun intended) because Caitlin has exceeded every realistic expectation. Which, by the way, I am not one of those Caitlin fans who think she should be the MVP or that she is destined to the GOAT. That's ludicrous. But she a generational player who has only begun to tap her talent. What Bird neglected to consider when she was crapping on Caitlin was that, rather than crumble in the face of the talent, speed, and physicality of the WNBA, Caitlin would quickly adapt and learn to meet the challenges she faced. She's still learning, but look how quickly she changed her game to focus on assists and running the team. She's a coach on the floor. And she not only rains logo threes, she can drive hard to the basket. She's really a complete player. As a rookie. If Bird has ever done a true mea culpa on the sh*t talking she did I haven't seen it. So in my mind, she still has to own the stink of what she said. P.S. Reece has also exceeded reasonable expectations this year, but unlike Caitlin who just focuses on balling, Reece has been embarrassingly seeking attention and validation, and that dampens my enthusiasm for her. I give her full credit as a fantastic rebounder (Rodman-like), but it's hard for me to root for someone who is a borderline dirty player, a limited shooter, and always complaining she's not getting enough attention. Reece is a really good player based on her rebounding and defense, but she is not at the same level as Caitlin talent-wise. And that's not fan boy talking. That's just using my eyes and my brain. It's pretty obvious.
@angelaasaka3505 ай бұрын
@@WillyPDX94 rest!! All this epistle for what? They said the rookies may struggle in the beginning and they should give themselves grace if they don't hit the ground running as fast as they would like. What is bad about that? She did struggle in the beginning and has found her groove. How did that negate anything they said, they did not give a timeline. It could be a week, a month, a season, but don't beat yourself up. You are holding onto that anger yet every game where Sue is in attendance, CC hugs her afterwards and has a chat with her. Release yourself! As for Angel, she is not where her fans want her to be, but there is room for growth. As long as she continues to work hard and focus on her weaknesses in the off-season she will get better. See how I talked about her without calling her dirty and the like? Learn to do the same.
