@@Steevonator I don’t think OP is saying that anyone does or does not live up to the hype. But a lot of commentators get wrapped up in hype and they just tell the same story over and over again. It gets boring and I say that as a CC fan. Lots of new fans and great opportunities to tell a multitude of interesting stories. Unfortunately, not many commentators are doing this.

Amazing commentary Quita! Thank you for sharing and pointing this out! I too just began to watch WNBA this year. Quita, this game was truly historical. Was a sold out crowd and we were here for ALL the players. We the fans (yes, I was there), were engaged from beginning to end. The thing I loved the most was that the fans truly knew who these players were, on both sides of the basketball. Which I am not surprised about, since Boston is such a basketball city. They need to come back to Boston (and if truth be told they don't need to be playing the Fever or the Sky) again and we will definitely sell it out again. I am truly disappointed that the WNBA only cares about televising games nationally that features one specific name. What a disservice they are doing not only to the players but to the fans as well.

First of all, that is not true because many other games have been on TV, and many Fever games are not on nat'l TV as well. But if you look, most games get 400k-700k TV viewership, the Fever get over 2M or more. There's a reason for that.
@petep5207

When you start making this a regular thing--I am sure the networks will be glad to televise more games of other teams. The market responds to the demand...and so far, the demand has been overwhelmingly for that "one name" you are too immature to mention. Get outta your feelings, grow the heck up and study up on marketing & business. You just gave a FEMALE'S perspective. Females love to demand things without actually working for them. Like demanding equal pay for WNBA players--when none of you were watching or supporting for 27 years. Like THAT. So you are clueless as to supply & demand. Let me educate you further: WILSON just released another Caitlin signature ball yesterday. BEFORE they even announced the official release, it was already SOLD OUT. I spent hours on the WIlson website and STILL did not snag one. The special edition balls Wilson released for the Sky, Angel Reese, Vegas and Aja Wilson...never sold out. Available for purchase since the day of release. There is a BIG, HUGE. MASSIVE reason Aja Wilson did not get a landmark Wilson deal--even with her last name literally being--WILSON. She is utterly and truly UNLIKABLE. Ask WNBA fans. Perhaps you should also express distaste at how the players in this league have acted this entire season. For example--the tweet from Dijonai yesterday. This is fuking child care at this point. Children. Don't blame Caitlin or the TV networks. Blame the unlikable playersand the so-called fans that have never supported the league before...and STILL do not.

The avg attendance for the SUN home games is 8900. The Sun have not played a home game since Jul 14. The SUN move their game to TD Garden in Boston. This is 107 miles a 2hrs drive from Mohegan Sun Arena. Mohegan Sun arena capacity is 9323. TD Garden capacity is 19,156. In anticipation of a potential future playoff with the Fever the SUN scout out larger arenas. The SUN advertises it will be playing in TD garden, Boston. The SUN sell out TD Garden with an Attendance of 19,125. Did the SUN stumble onto a fan base in Boston. Did Boston just communicate to the WNBA we want a team. Will the SUN move to Boston.

Sick of players/teams being told to be grateful to Caitlin tbh, she GOT her flowers, and GETS them every frickin day, this game had 0% to do with her and we got feral fans foaming at the mouth like she isn't mentioned by every commentator every game I watch. Even in the spain vs china game this olympics they found a way to jam her name in there next to Meg. Yes I saw the SNL bit with Clark and that got me here, yay CC, but can us newbies chill? Anyway, I watched this on twitter and it had to buffer/would get stuck many many times and I couldn't pause it to sync with your play by play, but I'm glad I was at least able to listen to what I couldn't see and see what I could of it because of it streaming there. Hope they get more Sun games on TV after this!

CORRECTION: On the road to "respectability". Words matter. Saying "respect" implies the league has been disrespected. It has not. It has not shown itself WORTHY of respect before. "Respectability" means the league is slowly--gradually--proving itself worthy of the respect of onlookersand fans. Frankly, I do not even think the league is there yet. Witness the kindergarten, petty actions of the Seattle Storm the other night. This league cannot get out of its own way.

This is a fantastic moment in WNBA history. We need to not get caught up in any negativity. This is a real indication that the Caitlin effect has actually made a difference. Now people are watching women’s basketball for the game. All these teams are getting more fans appreciating all the players skills. CC may have open the door but all these new rookies AR, Cam, Richea, Kamilla, Kate and so many others helped open that door too. It’s important that we embrace the positive response from the fans appreciating all players and continue that momentum. It’s our responsibility as fans to play as a team and not be divided. Quita I heard a phrase by Marylin Monroe that says " Beauty will get you into doors that nothing else will...I honestly believe Dijonai needs to be highlighted more by her team being the most explosive and most attractive player on that team...I'm not saying looks add to or takes away from a players game, but it does help for promo. I live in Miami a tourist attraction city and everywhere in hotels and places where women are hostesses or bartenders or waitresses or any other premier representatives to the tourist customer base there's an attractive woman in that position...Basically if there's 2 qualitified women for positions like these, if both women are equally qualified, whoevers the most attractive will get the job cuz beauty sells....Dijonai needs to be the face of that team for both these crucial reasons. Just my opinion. Same with Rickea Same with Angel. Believe it or not, beauty has influence, on men AND women.. All of a sudden Indiana Fever has become a dangerous team. I see CC22 haters saying that she got to a Star team, that just happens to have lost 27 out 40 games last year. All of a sudden, Kelsey knows what to do instead of roaming aimlessly like a headless chicken, AB knows how to pass and do the pick and roll seamlessly, Hull is a sharp shooter. This is CC turning the Fever into her personal Iowa and it works because her skills, leadership, vision and execution are exceptional. Generational talent. People are witnessing history. This is just the beginning. To think that they tried to avoid this with a horrible calendar, hatred, aggression, bad refereeing, bad coaching and now it is clicking. I tried to watch a little bit of your live description of the game yesterday, but I couldn't. It was unbereable. Literally you spent 5 minutes repeating the same thing over and over again. Sold out crowd no CC22 involved. Weird Swoopes decided to leave CC22 out of the Fever success. The W as you call it, leaves certain rookie out of the documentary series. It is a pathetic attempt to obscure the inevitable...A white, heterosexual, talented white girl took over the league. Get used to it. CC22 says you are welcome.

@@369PennState So why was that LSU Iowa final a record setting basketball game, before the controversy. Nobody was talking about CC beating the unbeatable SC by herself? 12 million turned up to watch before the incidents. Someone has just you tubed a video of the whole Angel/CC rivalry going way back. They might be even now, but Angel dominated early, and there is some genuine understandable jealousy happening there. But personally it's a no contest, between pattycake on the paint, and soaring shots, and raking passes. That's just me. Angel will be a force when she gets her shooting in order. She tops rebounds, and is worst on 5' shots %, by a mile.

@@QuitaLovesSports Caitylyn Clark is the example of organic and authentic. So much so that WNBA players are under the impression that the W is marketing, exposing and highlighting Indiana fever games more than others and it is quite the opposite. We as fans have to research when the fever is playing. The coverage for Angel Reese is another example of manufactured. They hype her game but are critical of Caitlyn's. I wish it was not so, because it's doing Angel a disservice. She would grow into an amazing WNBA player by her own merits if they would just allow her game to grow organically and stop with the obvious push and force to break records.

It is essential that the commissioner knows how to take advantage of this moment to consolidate the business and take advantage of the new talent that she is promoting and that put her in the spotlight. The league must become an attractive destination for the best players in the world, thus preventing American players from playing in other countries during the offseason. Additionally, it's time to look beyond American borders and take the league to a global stage.
