When Dingoes lived and hunterd alongside us, They didn't need to look at human as a food source They always got their fair share of the kill as an offer of thanks for helping in the hunt The land was a lot more abundant in those times But after Colinzation destroyed the natural rhythm of life and drove a decent amount of our native animals to the brink of extinction, including the Dingo Its changed the Animals nature and not for the better They began to form larger groups acting more like a pack of wolves rather then their original salutary nature As a result they now have alot more mouth's to feed addpting to life as opportunistic, scavengers they don't just go for young children or toddlers anymore A large pack will actively Pursue a group of adults if desperate enough

She's definitely correct. 400 is insane. Researchers followed a pack of wolves once due to the pack being over 30. They were considered a Super Pack due to the unusually large numbers and it's theorized to have taken a number of different factors for even that large of a number to have assembled. Wolves have an alpha inside of the pack and while they don't follow the exact formation as lions do, there's some similarities in breeding. You would need multiple alpha's and breeding to practically be organized to keep a small town population of wolves functioning in an orderly fashion. My guess as to what really happened is, a high population of wolves was able to thrive in and around the area. Things happened to scare the people and the soldiers. Small children could definitely be taken and killed. Soldiers wounded could have been dealt with by a bear. If several packs of wolves thrive in the area, scared humans with ammunition could easily come to a cease fire agreement to get the so-called wolf problem dealt with.

Similar phenomenon took place during the formation of Genghis Khan's horde. Herdsmen who by nature live very dispersed were hit by years of drought. Your neighbor wouldn't have enough forage on his territory nor would you on yours. So you'd have to expand. There was conflict. The winner almost doubled in size, and things eased slightly, but soon it would have to forage beyond the combined range of the original two, and encounter bigger/smaller tribe. The bigger tribe won. Soon there was a horde. I wonder if something like this was what happened with the wolves.

Those chickens may be there for years with no issues. Then one taste of chicken and that coyote will come back until you stop them. I don't know why this lady would believe there is any difference between the two situations.

Animals adapt just look at coyotes entering urban areas and snatching smaller pets or attracting male dogs by sending females in heat to lure them into the woods, surrounding them, and tearing them apart.

400 is definitely a big number. Prob exaggerated. The stories might be true. The number sounds like the size/weight of the fisherman's biggest catch. I can see how 80-100 wolves ripping people apart in the dark might seem like 400 to someone who might have survived the attack but lost a foot and an arm. There was a lot more big game around, and a lot more animals in general on the earth, back in those days more than hundred years ago. There were a lot of frozen mammoths thawing outr of the ice as well.

More likely is that there were several packs that descended onto the farms due to wild life numbers plummeting in that severe winter, but the packs were not cooperating, and not necessarily even at the same place at the same time at the same farm. There very well could have been 400 distinct wolfs that attacked the farms that winter but each pack probably attacked a different farm.

To say wolves in Yellowstone are the same as wolves in Siberia is so immature. Wolves do certain things until they dont.

There was a documentary on the BBC I believe about the 400 wolf pack. They sent out a hunter to identify the alpha and shoot it. Once he did the pack broke up. I am sure there is still clips on youtube.

This lady only knows Yellowstone wolves she doesn't study wolves in Russia Canada or anything like that and she's trying to act like she knows everything about them. Shes ok. But she is not the expert she leads on. Super pacs have been proven to exist and happen in Russia and having just a couple years ago and was proven. She's cool man but she needs to do some more research about the animal she's apparently an expert on

It totally logical. I feel like in that specific set of circumstances, the wolves would definitely take advantage of wounded incapacitated soldiers. Why wouldn’t they? They aren’t just going to see it and ignore it.

In spite of Karen's beliefs I have had many Old-Timers tell me that back in the day wolves with regularly show up and take children . Apparently they preferred preteens . It is believed that they preferred them because they were small enough to handle but yet enough to satisfy their hunger . They're not cute and cuddly , we are food to them !

Even if there as 400 starving wolves that went after what ever that still takes a lot of prey for 400 wolves. I dont believe it either and Love how Diane holds her ground in a safe way. Who knows it could happen but not likely. Normally starving things with no prey die out and then prey rebounds and then predators slowly rebound if any left and cycles again.
@chadbinette32015 күн бұрын
If this woman doesn't write it she's skeptical about it. She studies wolves today in America not 100 years ago in Russia. Don't think they've adapted a bit? 100 years ago they were higher in numbers and had a lot more range to explore and hunt and alot more prey numbers to hunt.

Well the majority of casualties were caused by artillery and most went down in no mans land , not to mention chlorine ,phosgene and mustard gas temporarily blind you , hundreds of references , thousands of personal diaries document this I have heard this reference in Field Marshall Erwin Rommels memoirs : ATTACKS .I own the book . Many of the mercy dogs used by the Germans fell prey to wolf attacks as well . They organized ceasefire to recover the wounded after major battles and many found the severely wounded being eaten by wolves .
