No real need for a spoiler warning today but just keep in mind I may reference events from across the Warhammer 40,000 universe. So you have been warned!

I said a long time ago that I hope for Bjorn to sucker punch Russ upon his return. In the middle of a battle. The resulting brawl between the Lord of Winter and Ruin with his one remaining vaerangi would likely just win the whole battle there as they punch out anyone trying to get in the way. And honestly? I can imagine most of the rout watching on just laughing their asses off.

@@alastair4839 as far as I’m aware, nothing. Or nothing as of yet. It’s just how his personality would clash with the Inquisition so hard. Vulkan and his Salamanders are all about protecting and serving the normal people, going to great lengths to defend and rescue even singular civilians. They undoubtedly have the biggest hearts in the setting and Vulkan so much more so. So imagine how Vulkan would get along with an organization that would Exterminatus a planet on a whim, bombard innocent civilizations without recourse, and many more things? Yeah, I’m not betting that’d work out well. Look at the Celestial Lions: they stop a rebellion and a Chaos Cult,and as soon as they leave the Inquisition bombards the planet they just liberated. The Lions condemned the action and since then the Inquisition has been exterminating the loyalist Lions just because the Lions spoke out against them. And then there’s the Months of Shame to also bear in mind at how extreme the Inquisition is.

It would be funny if it turned out Russ was actually the psychic powerhouse counterpart Primarch to Magnus all along. Bear in mind that unlike Guilliman or El'Jonson, who were both effectively in mental stasis, Russ will not be the same man he once was.

Not necessarily time moves differently in the warp. It may have only been a few years or decades to Russ. He might come out of the warp and be like how the hell did so much time pass.

As a big fan of both the Wolves and Angels I want the reunion of Russ and the Lion. The two lock eyes across a room, they approach one another with stern purpose only to fake a punch and then embrace like lost brother should

The return of the wolf king; and Bjorn’s reaction in my head would go something like this; The thousand suns are attacking the fang and Bjorn is leading what's left of the wolves in a desperate last stand, as all is looking lost a distant howl is heard, all the wolves look in alarm at what new threat approaches, only Bjorn stops, and quietly mutters "Russ?" seconds later the howl is heard louder and Bjorn bellows "Russ", "Russ" and charges through the thousand sons as if they were nothing charging to the howl he has not heard for 10,000 years, inside his ancient sarcophagus the face of what's left of the marine that was Bjorn has a wetness run down his face, for he knows this howl the howl of his lord, his farther, the man who left him behind all those years ago, he has returned! For me this has to be how his return comes about it needs to be Bjorn who first recognises his return and his 10,000 year wait will finally be over.

So this is how I see it happening, in a comic format if if it helps the imagination. Have it open up with someone saying to Isha, "Are you sure you wanna stay?" And she replies with something along the lines of "I do more good here, hepling prevent His plagues." Amd she also apologizes that she couldn't help him "Wolf King" before a shadowed figure with a staff walk away saying to call him if she needs help. Then cut to the Imperium as the SW and their succesor chapter have all been assembled to assault the Prosperso system that Magnus jas reclaimed, at the request of Guilliman. Battle goes how you would expect and have Logan Grimnar bloodied and beaten on the ground while Bjorn is struggeling to get up to continue the fight against Magnus. He gloats for a bit but it's not directed at either of them as he turns around when an icy wind rushes over the battlefied and silences it all and a hooded figure is watching over the battle much like Odin. Right before Magnus says his name, he is frozen in a pillar of ice as the Odin like figure is now by Bjorn's side. Biorn opens up his so he could look upon his old friend and king with his own eyes and as he sees him, he is the first to actually say his name. Leman smiles at him and says "Bjorn, my old friend. Thank for carrying the burden I placed upon you so along ago. But it is ok now. Rest." Magnus would then be like, "Are you finished *Brother*?" As Leman then turns around, wind catching his hood to take it off and show that he too is now missing an eye, the opposite side of Magnu's, along side a determined face. Then an epic battle happens. This is just how I envision it and hope that we do get something similiar when Leman returns.

@@spartastic4 well I can see how many people can coincidentally and independently come up with the same general idea: Viking themed, a powerful spear, connection to wolves, goes on a journey to find a mystic tree (world tree for Vikings and isha for 40K), rune priests, it’s not hard to come up with Odin/Russ. I wouldn’t have minded a Thor route either, but hammers are more of a Vulkan thing.

Id like to see the novel start off in an Aeldari ship or craft world where they have a monster in stasis, and intend to use him to assault some chaos instalation in an effort to locate one of their relics, or mythical swords. Russ is that monster set loose upon the instalation to allow for the Aeldari to achieve their goals and give those limey space elves a little more lore, but then also to have Russ call to his brothers from that location and draw them in for the hunt.

I am one to imagine that we may not see Russ immediately take on the Thousand Sons whenever GW has his return campaign. One reason? The 40K rematches of the Primarchs has seen them tangle with Brothers we had not really seen conflict between. Guilliman vs. Mortarian. The Lion vs. Angron. Each of these matchups also showcase a mirroring of character traits too: Roboute stared around at the results of 10,000 years of his actions and did not succumb to despair. He strapped on his big kid pants and went to work. Mortarion gave in to despair and has hated himself for it ever since. The Khan ABSOLUTELY nailed Mortarion’s character with his most epic of burns, “I am tougher than you.” The Lion is a character where anger and rage always lived close to his heart. His anger at being questioned for his loyalty and his anger at feeling betrayed cost him 10,000 years of action and a chance to save his father. Fast forward to the 42nd Millennium and we have a Lion who actually knows how to temper his rage. He knows that he cannot hide anger behind a chivalric code, he has to put that anger in its’ proper place. Angron? Well, I mean, it is in his very name. He was made a slave in childhood, then claims to be made a slave of his father, only to become forced into the slavery of Khorne. Only unlike his attempt at becoming free on Nuceria, he’s lost in his self loathing and fear. That would say to me that Russ would likely face off against a brother that is a mirror of what Leman had to learn for his own growth. Personally, I’d live to see it be Lorgar. If Leman did go a more Odin-like route, then showcasing his deeper understanding of myth-as-metaphor vs. blind zealous devotion would be interesting.

Of course, this is predicated on Russ even returning as....himself. We're lulled into complacency from Guilliman and El Johnson returning, for the most part, as themselves. We've already seen Corax undergo some pretty intense changes, what if Russ shows up and is some sort of feral wolf/force of nature? We don't know where he's been, what he's been doing, or if he's ok. He could return and be stark raving wild.

I have my bias as well, so I would like to see Russ and El'Johnson reunited. What do these older, potentially wiser primarchs think of their old rivalry? Do we get another duel? When you talked about Russ punching Guilliman, I imagined the Lion alongside, laughing. Yes, our more mature Lion should be able to find humor in such a "greeting"

The greatest face-off between Magnus and a Space Wolf was with Lukas the Trickster at the end of Ashes of Prospero. I think Russ will be found by Baldur from Jarnhammer Pack after his departure in The Helwinter Gate. Ok, this is a bit off the wall and way out on a limb that is about to break off Yggdrassil, so take it with a grain of salt. Baldur has just seen shadowy wolf figures for the third time that are trying to lead him down a different path from the rest of Jarnhammer Pack. He decides to leave the Pack, says his goodbyes, and disappears into the webway with a mission to return the soulstone of the dead Aeldari to the Aeldari homeworld. He also seems to hear something or someone calling to him. In The Lion, El'Jonson book Lion in the Forest hears a beast, like a wolf, howling in the mist. What if the wolf shadows that are leading Baldur thru the Webway are also guiding him to Russ, and Baldur's redemption comes when he finds Russ and brings him back to Fenris? It's just a random idea. If you haven't read the Jarnhammer Trilogy, go get the books.

Because everyone and their brother did that. Leman's second heart punching is sorta like how everyone and their brother beat up an Avatar of Khaine bare handed. Or how every bad guy of the week beats up Worf. It isn't an achievement.

If there's one more question based off patterns we've seen forming so far, I'd ask which bit of wargear might Russ get from the Emperor? Of course Guilliman got the sword (somehow or other haha) and the Lion got his shield from a quest of sorts. Yeah, whatever happens, a confrontation with Magnus seems like the *obvious* choice, not to say for sure it will. Bear in mind, Guilliman fought Magnus and later Mortarion - all the 40k primarch models then available - and got trolled by Fulgrim. Of course Fulgrim and Lorgar might seem the most obvious choices for Guilliman to rematch, but the lore hasn't gone that way, at least not yet. Then of course the Lion returned and promptly battled Angron. Again, that matchup has a strong link to the latest primarch models, and the same seems highly likely to happen if/when Russ returns. By that logic my best guess is he may have to fight Fulgrim, perhaps an undivided primarch later, or maybe even Vashtorr

Location: Fenris, inside the Aet. Magnus has destroyed one of Bjorn legs... the cyclope is ready to strike, Bjorn, defiant till the end tell him he is lucky he doesn't have a mouth anymore, or he would spit on him.... Magnus rise his weapon for the killing strike when the fenrisian wind break into the room, an impossibilities, because this room is beep into the deep level of the fang... Magnus looks around, almost puzled... and then he sees it, the Balenight sword, Mjolnar wielded by his nemesis, Lemn Russ.. Russ: "fellhanded, are you ok" now we see something never seen before: Bjorn at a loss of word.. a few seconds passes, while Russ move into combat distances... "y.. y..es my liege" and Russ "good" with the word that turn into a growl, while he jump to strike his lost brother...

I hope the Wolves are a little dissapointed by Rus' return. Theyve grown wiser and more noble over time, and I think they would be a little put off by the vanity and bloodlust of Rus for the sake of bloodlust. I think a FASCINATING story would be Rus being called to grow as a person by his legion, his legion saving Rus rather than the other way around.

The Russ comes back and faces down Magnus, wielding magic of his own. Beating Magnus at his own game, but then at the last second asking for his forgiveness for the scorching of his homeworld. That would be A GREAT thing to read

@ianjewett3394 true enough, they did things poorly. Russ could have tried talking more, instead of NJ jumping at the opportunity to get a one up on his brother. While Magnus could have found a better way to report to the Emperor and Russ before Russ decided to lay waste to Prospero. I'm a huge Wolves fan, and even many of Russ's older companions knew he was an idiot and didn't think many things through properly. But all in all it would/will be an interesting interaction between the two when it comes to pass.

my thoughts would the resurrection of the chapter, as he would go accross the sector, recruiting and finding new aspirants for his chapter, giving the middle finger to guillimans old plan, and instead, turn to what he wants to finish, like the vikings of old, he has gone bitter, but wiser. raiding thousands of world with his new chapter, while training new soldiers as well, seeing how the empire has gone weak in his wake. like the idea of not just astartese, but millions of guardsman TRAINED by astartese, but not just any but SPACE WOLF ASTARTESE, with their insane rituals and praactises, sound like a new cadia legion to me. and this could already have happened, after the fall of cadia, as whispers come through the halls, of the heroisme of the space wofs during this campaign, ever since, they have been recruiting more and more, putting the fingers on the inquisition, but whenever they go and look, nothing is found of any heresy, as if they acted like they always have, but in truth, they have just dialed up their sneakiness, hidiing themselves far better. I love to see a new imperial guard, with the ferocity of the space wolfs. maybe they were created, because this way, the wolfs can attack, and then they can clean things up, recruit and colonise the planet, and send any aspiring applicants to the space wolfs. this army, overseen by space wolfs themselves. a large campagin, hidden from the imperium themselves. in the end, this can bring some good story in the long term. more space wolfs, could mean more wars in the future, when a new tyranid war hits their sector. imagine the space wolfs RECRUITING TYRANITS AS PETS IN THEIR ARMY. imagine a imperial guard with caught tyranids, like in starcraft with mensk. the quest for glory, as more battles come, each want to prove themselves again and again, unable to stop, even by their own primarch, it delves deeper into the wolf and what to do. it might also count the end for the space wolfs, maybe going ALMOST extinct as they hurl themselves against the tyranids,

Mostly rumors and speculation at this point. Corax has been spotted in the Warp, but more as a Warp figure then Human form, chasing down Lorgar. Once Lorgar returns, that's probably when we will see Corax. Speculation Time: The Khan was last seen in the Webway, with rumors that he's in the Black Library. With Vashtor and Abbadon using the Webway to get around, the Khan might be next. As for the rest? Who knows. With Vulcan being a perpetual, they can bring him back whenever they want. Sadly, I think Russ will be last. (Hope I'm wrong). Almost forgot, Fulgrim should be next, then we should get another Loyalist.

Russ would have grown. His physic power would have heightened. Valdors might will probably be the only way russ will be brought back. The lion and the wolf were dauntless. Them together would be really be the push back the imperium has to create. Guilliman focusing on the logistics, legal and now godly matters. Russ would see bjorn first. The true brothers in arms. Then straight to the big E. Wherever he is he is trapped. Even on a good day chaos has a hard time pushing russ. Only magnus could really contend a pissed off russ and space wolf legion. I think corax and russ have a great common standing. Russ hiting another brother woukd be beyond hin now. Hes gonna come back a beast. The only one that was his equal is the lion. Russ just landed on fenris and made mates with his beasts. All the primarchs now are executioners. He will be the last primarch to come back. Hes just too powerful to bring back now. If bjorn and russ dont meet ill boycot GW for life. Lol.

Rubuite Guiliman and El Johnson were effectively just asleep. So there was no story to be told about how they returned but the others, there are massive story arcs. Example, Rus and his escape fron Negles Garden. Also if how Dorn returns and were he was taken and how he survived. Also the War Hawk and bow he got out of the webway and where he went and if the Eldar heped him or was it the Big- E.

I disagree it HAS to be Magnus. The others returned and fought a Primarch they don't have a huge history with. It's not like the Lion and Angron are bitter rivals. And Mortarion and Guilliman weren't like the best of brothers. Having it be Magnus I feel really limits the Wolves to that singular rivalry. You could tell a great story with Fulgrim, or Pertuabo, or even Lorgar. The ferocity of the Wolves vs the fanaticism of the Sons of Lorgar. The Wolf King and the Aurellian in a duel, arguing over what their father truly intended for Mankind, and which of them is the true disappointment. Lots of good potential there

Bjorn and Russ are a must! You mentioned this years ago in a video that you would think Bjorn would lay Russ out for leaving him behind. That would be awesome especially if he did so after Russ saves him from being killed by Magnus after a epic monumental duel, “ Bjorn was broken, his sarcophagus cracked, melta cannon arm ripped away but still standing defiantly against the demon Sorcerer Primarch Magnus.
