@x0acake8 жыл бұрын
Healthcare is subject to market failure because healthcare has inelastic demand, meaning a price increase does not correlate to a decrease in demand. If jacking up the price doesn't affect demand for your service, there is simply no incentive to lower prices and thus private healthcare will always be more expensive than public healthcare. Economics 101. Same happens with other essential commodities like medicine, water, police, military, and fire services. That's why governments usually have to step in and nationalize or regulate those commodities to keep prices stable.
@griggsgibs39338 жыл бұрын
***** Socialism is shit
@christianrobinson42278 жыл бұрын
Private healthcare is definitely more expensive yes, but public healthcare is not much better. The standard for public healthcare will definitely keep dropping as the amount of beneficiaries increases and the government is struggling to pay for it. Not that they can pay for anything right now anyway, but the extra cost of privatizing healthcare is so worth it when you factor in the increasing number of people using public healthcare that will eventually cause private companies to abandon their own private plans when the government provides its own shitty one for everyone. Liberals are only about idealism, not pragmatism. They do things that make them feel good no matter how stupid and destructive they are.
@x0acake8 жыл бұрын
Public healthcare isn't just cheaper, its more cost-effective. You get the exact same quality of care but you pay up to 4x less, because single-payer forces healthcare providers to compete for business from the single largest customer (the govt). Otherwise there is almost no competition in healthcare because "customers" can't really choose healthcare providers during emergencies. Providers don't have to worry about losing business to a cheaper "competitor", thus they are free to jack up their prices and maximize profits (which almost all of them do). The only exception is preventative care but Americans have a habit of waiting til problems turn into emergencies.

Amazingly directed scene.
@resurrectionist18 жыл бұрын
Lol okay troll...for starters, I think Scorses's sense of framing in this scene and pretty much this entire movie is immaculate. His blocking is subtle and doesn't call attention to itself but sells the emotion of the scene and sells the emotion that we as the audience are supposed to feel. I was laughing throughout this scene not because of DiCaprio's performance but because of the the slow reactions from EVERYONE else in the scene around him. Additionally, Scorsese's eye for capturing the visuals of the 80s or 90s when this movie was set is fantastic. THAT'S why I think this is an amazingly directed scene. It got me feeling what I was supposed to. Now go back and hide under your captain underpants blanket and suck on your pacifier before trying to start a flame war. People watch these videos because they love and appreciate movies and they don't need trolls like you who are under some kind of illusion that they are hot shit when they are, in fact, just shit.

Even though he was a crook what this clip shows is very important in sales, which is passion for your product and craft if you are excited about what you are selling it will transfer to the customer it is infectious. The down side is he was just a hustler without ethics, being professional and having ethics is the most important quality in sales.

Maybe in retail, but in door to door and cold calling sales you are literally trained to throw ethics out the door. Source: 6 years combined in both

Dylan Muir thanks for your insight. I am a sales trainer with 19 years experience in B2B sales (selling and leadership). I’ve never trained people to throw their ethics out. Are there people who do sure, but we all have a choice.

@@lsrtube Business to business is an entirely different story. When your sales market is consumer facing rather than business facing you literally have to throw morals away in order to succeed. Otherwise the guy that's already commited to throwing his away is going to beat you to the punch. It's a horrible, dishonest industry and I hate the fact that I was ever apart of it. Bruh talk to anyone, ANYONE! in Door to door or cold calling consumer based sales and they will tell you it's all about who can make people believe the most bullshit. You will also hear a lot about 'the law of averages' (which btw is a complete and utter logical fallacy) and other cult-like rhetoric. Honestly d2d is a fucking cult.

Initially when Belford asked about Aerotyne the price was 6¢ a share but when he sells the stock to John at 10¢ a share (3:28). Then he sold him $4,000 worth of shares for which he says that's 40,000 shares. Did he pocket the 4¢ difference plus his 50% commission??? That's an additional $1,600 that someone made in this transaction.

It's amazing how sales works. It's really captivating if you study it well. There's so much to learn about how humans work in general if you study sales. I'm intrigued by this clip because it demonstrates how astonishing sales could be. This is great acting to demonstrate real life occurrences within the sales world!

@anthonydamian3688 жыл бұрын
+mrJLS45 if a new issue stock sells for 10 dollars a share, and I sold 1000 shares with a 10 percent commission, the client would pay 10000 and I would receive 1000. The client does not pay 11000 because the mark up or commission is built into the price of the stock. This is the same principle here except the mark up is much higher. The client pays 4000 for 40000 shares at 10 cents a share and Leo Getz his 2000. But guess what? If the client turned right around and sold it the same next day he would sell it at 6 cents a share while some other poor schmuck pays the 10 cent ask or 12 cents or whatever the spread is between the bid and the ask because he paid the commission without realizing it and on and on it goes. Does that make sense?
