GameStop sank 25% as of 12:50 p.m. in New York, after rallying 1,600% in January. Hordes of day traders piled into the shares after noticing the elevated short interest in hopes that buying would force shorts to cover, driving the price ever higher. Now the trend is reversing. The Dow industrials hammered out a 235-point gain at the open, up 1.8% as the market looked to claw back a share of Friday's steep losses. The S&P 500 rallied 1.7%. The Nasdaq Composite swung 1.7% higher on the stock market today, Famous Stock analyst Dr Claus Smith said the new strain of Covid 19 virus being discovered is going to put a scare into the economy and the Stock Market in the next 3 months so He warns new stock buyers to be careful. I am no expert but I’m extremely observant of these psychological nuances and some of the refined techniques Jordan uses here. Common ground - Copying of language and body language to create common ground (“Area-er”, “Chin-er”) - “I understand that”, conveying that you understand the client and are relatable in terms of relationship. Assurance and Time frame - “We will get you what you need, I don’t want to interfere with so on and so forth, give us only 30 days and you will be satisfied.” Confirmation bias - “Does that sound good enough?” - this allows the client the power to decide in favor of the seller and another avenue of information persuasion to take place. Attention bias - “Let me ask you a question.” - Grabs the clients attention and allows the seller to produce an image for the client to create a bias for the seller. And just towards the end, he got a little demanding to ice the cake. I don’t have a name for that one lol Just thought I’d point these out for fun.
@adamgm846 жыл бұрын
I heard him use a triplet as well. Where you use a string of 3 to make something sound complete whether or not it actually makes sense. Example: "Our products are well-made, affordable, and aesthetic". Related to that, he also bifurcates ideas into two choices which funnels the listener down to the black and white reasoning that rationalizes in a certain direction. I also see him mimicking the guy's body language which helps build rapport. Tony Robbins has some good videos about body language.
@MrJerryHsu6 жыл бұрын

I like how he constantly asks the customer "does that sound fair?" or "fair enough?" after asking to give him one shot. This pressures the buyer into wanting to say yes and to open up the account. He also moves around a lot and makes gestures to make the buyer more comfortable but at the same time makes the seller (Jordan) look more comfortable and confident. These gestures really don't seem like much but it takes a lot of skill to keep it up the entire time while still keeping focus on selling your product.

@emr1d3413 жыл бұрын
"How's that sound?" is an example of a close. Gestures work because "motion creates emotion," and emotion sells. His relaxed posture in the chair is to make the customer feel comfortable. He also leans in to try to get the customer to lean (called "the lean," meaning you have their interest). All those things come naturally after practice. Just like you don't think exactly about your grammar when you speak to express yourself, once you practice body language, you can use it to support what you're saying. If you don't already, I think you'd really like sales. No matter who you are, you're always selling yourself or your ideas, so it's a life skill that will never lose its value.

He’s a very aggressive, energetic salesman. I am in sales too, and do not have these traits unfortunately, I’m not a natural born salesman, but it’s the career I landed in. Fortunately my business is about long term relationships, I talk to my customers weekly, for years, so it’s more about having a friendship with them, being knowledgeable, building trust and being able to service them, so I don’t necessarily need to be aggressive all the time. But for things like getting new customers, introducing new products, I could definitely use some more traditional salesman skills.

That was actually a really tough sale. Most salesmen would have lost the rapport after 3 or 4 objections. But that guy objected Jordan like 7 or 8 times and it is very impressive how Jordan was able to keep on track the whole time and gradually removing his prospect's fears piece by piece. Going from trivial questions to questions which like 'What is the worst thing that could happen?' at the end is absolute genius. Obviously, it wasn't just the straight line method that works tho. Jordan Belfort clearly did A LOT OF RESEARCH prior to this sale meeting.

Seems like a role play pitch. The worst! Still rocked it

This whole thing was set up badly - after the first 2 rejections that salesman would have been out the door - even belfort.

100% one cannot pull it off without an extensive research. One has to know what they are talking about to ask the right questions and to make the right offers

Damn he's a master. His indifferent, his body language is relaxed, his eye contact and confidence when he talks. He's asking questions, he is allowing the client to sell himself.

Overall in terms of: 1. Body language. 2. tonality. 3. word choices and sharing words of value/relatability. 3. Great listening/speaking skills. 4. third party stories/anecdotes and analogies. 5. Good frame controls and simplifying down language for the client to follow. This live is pretty good. Would've been nice to have a camera angle on the client so we could observe how he's receiving Jordan's communication because all we have are audio cues, verbals, and tonality to go off of. For example there were moments of tutting(in tonality tutting signifies strong disagreement, sometimes to a word choice or just internal monologue disagreement.) and the client here in certain statements had this inflexion of a 'question' like he sounded uncertain or unsure with certain words or certain statements he's making. Don't know about the blonde woman sitting in the corner, maybe a lawyer or some third party agent? Nevertheless great demonstration of selling live and handling of the client's needs.
