0:26. Love how DiCaprio chose to change the dialogue from "a killer" to "MY killers, my killers" to show more he's the top dog supporting his people to make a $#!% ton of money. Of course, Scorsese lets him make many of these ad-libs and adjustments to get the best performance possible. Bravo.

Some of you are like "wow Leo did so great changing the script" LOL hes just doing his best to remember it.. and as he rehearses and rehearses it starts to come out a certain way. literally everytime you run a long scene like this you end up with slightly different takes every time. Its never natural to literally read back the script word for word.

@@ADifferentVibe Well, the Revenant was certainly great and Alejandro Innaritu did a magnificent job on the movie but Hugh Glass wasn't really DiCaprio's best. With stellar performances in movies like What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Wolf of Wall Street, Blood Diamond, Shutter Island, the Departed and so on, Hugh Glass in The Revenant wasn't a very overwhelming performance. I personally (only my opinion) preferred Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs or Eddie Redmayne in the Danish Girl that year. It seemed like Al Pacino's award repeated: both with so many noteworthy performances, both great actors but both winning for roles that weren't exactly the best in their respective careers.

Michayle Akoka Thank you for pointing this out. As a screenwriter, revision is constant! Even on set! Right then and there! Writers don’t know always who is portraying their character and may have to adjust based on that alone with who can deliver the script without stepping in the director’s toes.
@ADifferentVibe4 жыл бұрын
@Smiley Adventures it's also said editing in post-production is the third and final writing of a movie. Sometimes the dialogue or exposition affects the overall movie you don't see while filming. So you have to draw out some moments or even cut some dialogue to adjust the best pace or lead the audience differently. The movie is never really finished being written until its premiere/release. :)

that's the power of a tremendous actor like DiCaprio and legendary directory Scorsese who can elevate the dialogue and character for the best possible movie.
