To clarify, this is not laundering, it's simply tax evasion. He is hiding his money in a swiss bank rather than keeping it in an american one or his house where the IRS can ask questions about where it came from. He then can launder the money which means to make it taxable (Ex. buying a business and giving yourself a massive fake salary which comes from the illegal money). In this case though Jordans money isn't illegal like a drug dealers, he just doesnt want to pay tax so he wouldnt need to launder it.

I think he was trying to hide his gain from insider trading and/or other mal-practises, hence the question about stock fraud.
@marcosebastianelli13616 жыл бұрын
It actually was illegal. Insider trading with Steve Madden, securities fraud with “pumping and dumping,” and money laundering because some of his money was earned from said illegal activities. That’s actually what he was indicted for.
@slowpoke96Z285 жыл бұрын
Um, cooking the books is illegal. He’s not hiding money from the irs because he’s too greedy to pay tax on it. He’s hiding it because it was made illegally, and the IRS would create a paper trail the FBI could follow. Shorting shares that don’t exist is illegal. That’s called naked shorting. Buying lots of shares to drive up trading volume and therefore its price, just to turn around to sell to your clients and others then laugh as they watch the share price correct itself by becoming pennies on the dollar, is illegal. It’s called pump and dump. Those are two of many schemes brokers run. Oh, and then using those “ill gotten gains (literally)” to buy drugs from those evil drug dealers you disdain so much, that’s illegal too.

he would still bypass fatca since his wifes/girlfriends aunt shares no family name or link at all since they all had different surnames, the aunt also never visited the us so fatca does not relate to her. This of course would still be a bad decision since the swiss interact a lot with the eu and the eu interacts with the us, so although they might not interact directly to each other they still do and fuck people over.

The banker friend would be such a good actor to play Martin Scorsese if a biopic was to be made, he has very similar face as Scorsese.

That’s one hell of a client - provider meeting. Communications were on point and done through facial expressions alone.

This movie's ensemble cast is freaking great. Tons of supporting actors made very little screentime yet they all managed to stole the show in just about any scene that they're in. Genius writing for their characters and incredible acting, I can't think of a single actor being wasted in this masterpiece
