The scariest part they actually TUNED DOWN the debauchery in the movie from what actually happened in the company, because they figured nobody would actually believe it.

Or it probably wouldn’t pass the R rating. I think the rating would be NC-17 if the filmmakers included everything.

@@bluecomet1109 midget tossing / dwarf tossing used to be a big thing back in the 80s and 90s. Hilariously that is actually one of the more believable parts. Brad Williams a hilarious stand-up comedian with dwarfism even made the joke that he couldn't get in a Blackhawk helicopter in Afghanistan so he had to look at a soldier and say something he never thought he would ever say "OK dude I can't get up in there... you're gonna have to toss me"

Jonah Hill tells my favorite story about this movie. Over the course of the shoot he and Di Caprio were in a lot of scenes together where they had to flail away and batter each other in various stages of intoxication and inevitably Jonah was getting the worst of this because Leo's much bigger than him. He wanted to get back at Leo somehow so he waited for his chance and found it with the scene that ends with Jonah declining the last piece of yellowtail and Leo eating it. The scene was scripted with Jonah gulping down the yellowtail but during improv when they were figuring out the scene Jonah tried refusing it and letting Leo eat it which made it into the final scene. Jonah knew that Leo was gonna have to eat at least 50-100 pieces of yellowtail in the course of shooting that scene and getting all the takes of all the angles. (Any actor other than Brad Pitt knows NOT to be eating in a scene in a movie because you're gonna make yourself sick eating through all the takes - Tom Cruise learned this in "The Outsiders."). Anyway as the takes went on and he'd end the scene with "nah, you can have it" Jonah watched Leo turning more and more green and sickly with each bite of yellowtail until finally Leo was vomiting everything into a trash can in a corner. Two people were laughing uproariously at the spectacle - Jonah and Scorsese. 🤣🤣🤣

I worked on Wall Street from the late 1990s, and knew of Jordan Belfort and his shady firm Stratton Oakmont even though they were not actually located on Wall Street. Those guys along with other similar fly-by-night firms were notorious for bilking investors by manipulating the micro-cap (low volume) market generally by inflating trade volumes. I remember when the SEC and the FBI began to crack down on those firms. Anyway, the guy at the end who introduced 'Jordan Belfort' on stage to speak to the crowd, was actually the REAL Jordan Belfort. Also, yes, he still lives in the USA and is actually doing very well for himself.

It's strange because when I see that scene where Jordan, says 'F**k It. I'm not leaving.' it always makes me smile. I know it's stupid, and part of me doesn't want him to do it. But another part of me is happy he didn't give in. There's something very American about somebody grabbing their nuts and yelling 'F**k You, don't tell me what to do.' I can't help liking it when I see that spirit in somebody, even if they are insanely misguided.

One of the funniest movies of all time! Historically accurate about the excesses of the 80s-90s. It’s a cycle of booms and busts on Wall Street with a new cast of characters each time. Unfortunately all of our fates are tied to what goes on there through our 401Ks and pensions for people who still have them.

2:29 The helicopter pilot is played by the nephew of the former Governor of Connecticut Dan Malloy. His name is Kerry. He and I did community theater doing stage show and we even went to Westhill High School in Stamford, CT and did other shows such as Guys and Dolls (He was Sky Masterson, I was Brannigan) but we also did a production of Evita (He was Che, I was Juan Peron). He even emailed me about his time on the film, even going so far as mentioning me to legendary director Martin Scorsese and about how knowledgeable I am about film, a message that almost gave me a near fatal heart attack. 😅

It's a well made movie, and I suppose viewing it as a dark comedy is the only way to do it.... but generally I say that I "do not like it" because there's absolutely no one to root for. I hate ALL THESE PEOPLE. These are the kind of people that give capitalism a bad name (I'm a capitalist, but capitalism only works in a society with a strong moral fabric). However I think this should be a good reaction... again it's extremely well made and an interesting story but just... hard to watch such opulance and debased indifference from the lead charcters.

Someone I met at an underground poker game worked at Stratton. When they got busted, he lost his license to trade

Nuts that I was just a few towns over from Wolfie when this went down , going down a different path that ultimately led to a full reboot also with nowhere near the $$ but maybe alot of the fun and debauchery . Metal Guitar playing, Motorcycle racing & hardcore weed growing .

This is such a crazy movie, and that it really happened just blows my mind! Leo's done a lot of true stories; one of my favorite ones is Catch Me If You Can. It really shows what a strong actor he is. For fiction, I love Inception. Fantastic movie! He's made a couple of duds, but it's really hard to go wrong watching Leo in almost anything he's done. Loved y'alls reaction to this one, but you couldn't pay me enough to go work for that guy this movie's based on! LOL X) I just took a pay cut to go work for a place that helps kids in need, and I am thrilled to be doing it. Peace.

I like that Jordan's cellie was tommy chong, who told him he needed to write the book about his life. The actual investigators said this movie was tame. It was worse than this.

Irl, Jordan left Stratton. He got busted for the same reason but he did leave. Also, that's the real Jordan Belfort introducing Leo at the end on New Zealand

*Just a few facts on the White Lambo.* The wreaked White 25th Anniversary Edition Lamborghini just went up for auction and made $1.3 million and still didn't meet the reserve. It's an actual new one owner Lambo that the stunt driver ran into things to tear it up but still didn't wreak it enough for the Director so they ran a pickup truck in to the Lambo multiple times and then took a Sledgehammer to it for quite a while.

Great reaction as always! Would love to see your reaction to "My Bestfriend's Wedding", a RomCom starring Julia Roberts. It's one of my personal faves and unfortunatelly i haven't seen any reactors do it yet. Thanks, sending you lots of love!💕

I liked your reaction! You just enjoyed the movie, unlike many other KZbinrs with high moral grounds judging the characters every other minute.

A fantastic movie, and one of the most interesting considering what everyone takes from it individually.
