SO much fan service in this movie, but not there JUST for fan service, it all fits. Yukio, Mariko, and Viper are all love interests of Logan's in the comics, though Mariko is always written as his "One True Love", Shingen, Silver Samurai...a lot of them are changed somewhat from the comics, of course, but they're almost all recognisable to comic fans. This was also, easily, the best portrayal of Logan to this point, too.

You’re right. And it was a small bit, and this is for just cool fact stuff not being an a hole haha. He’s also one of Japan’s most celebrated action actors. He is the samurai with the horns in Last Samurai, and is incredibly well regarded for his swordsmanship. In The Last Samurai when he ALMOST cuts Tom Cruises’ head off, Cruise insisted it be a real sharpened sword and trusted Sanada so much that he did actually stop the blade right as it touched his skin, man is insanely well practiced.

@nedzed3663 Жыл бұрын
I had no idea until recently that he wrote that movie's story. My one criticism I'd have about Logan is that it was the end of Wolverine on the big screen. I could have had one more Wolverine movie in this style with him as the writer
@carn9507 Жыл бұрын
@@nedzed3663 It was the end but now for some reason he'll be in the new Deadpool. Which I have mixed feelings about. I love Jackman's Wolverine but I've disliked Deadpool for decades, especially in the past 15 years or so where I find he often undermines the tension of a situation by being a fourth wall breaking character (and one I find far more annoying than amusing). But Jackman's been working out hard again cos he's just that cool. :)
@nedzed3663 Жыл бұрын
@Carn There was a time in the late 90s, early 2000s, or so when Deadpool was my favorite Marvel anti-hero. He was fun, yes, but his stories were very grounded and often tragic. Joe Kelly's run was this perfect over arching narrative that wasn't really duplicated again for years until the Duggan era and that run was hit or miss because it still devolved into 4th wall breaking, "ironic" humor amid the seriousness. I blame both the Deadpool game (which was scripted by Daniel Way who was behind volume 3 and had written much better Deadpool stories than this so there's no excuse) and the Deadpool movies for ruining this character. Yes, it was amazing seeing not just one but two Deadpool big screen adaptations and a character I was a fan of for years becoming mainstream. But now all this character is, is the Ryan Reynolds, ironic humor fourth wall breaks guy in EVERY medium he's in, including the actual comic's. He doesn't even have his own series anymore, just these mini series or one-offs where he's wacky talking to the reader, always joking slapstick character with these silly, cartoon, over the top even for Deadpool situations that would never ne shown I any other Marvel title. I see Deadpool nowadays and I legit hate this character, especially with Ryan Reynolds voice coming out of his mouth. I understand your reservations about bringing back both the character and actor who portrayed said character, especially after giving them such a great send off, for no other reason it seems than for fan service gimmick reason's. I felt the same way during Spiderman No Way Home, I legit hated that movie because of all the nostalgia pandering. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more had I not just watched Ghostbusters Afterlife at that time, which was so insulting with how much nostalgia and references made up that movie's core, that it was NOTHING but references to the original movie the entire runtime. I'll reserve any final judgment once there's more information or I see Deadpool 3, but I want to be excited about Jackman's Wolverine returning, but given how blatant nostalgia pandering has gotten in cinema lately, how low effort and insulting I've seen it get, I'm kind of wishing they just recast the character

I don’t know, it seemed the Wolverine movies weren’t that good. But this one was better than Logan.
@Jack_8010 ай бұрын
yeah, logan is the only good wolverine movie of the 3. this one, the wolverine, is by far the worst and silliest. like when he's running with 40 arrows in his back, that just looked so silly and stupid. and the old man in the giant metal robot being the bad guy was really stupid and silly too. logan is amazing compared to the first 2 pos movies, even if it did undo everything from days of future past. he wasn't even supposed to have that metal in his body anymore. another thing that didn't make sense was the little girl having it. if her entire skeleton is covered in that metal like logan, she would be ripped apart when she started to grow, unless they claim they somehow stopped her from aging so she'd stay that size forever.

Certainly should have watched the Unrated version of this movie for the incredible lengthy ninja fight sequence before the finale. It does get rather bloody, but it's also more in line with Wolverine's rage, and a better precursor for what to expect in Logan.
@carn9507 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Wolverine's one of the few superheroes who really fits with brutal and bloody fight scenes and it's great he finally got to break loose with that in the unrated cut and of course Logan. A little 'better late than never' but it sure makes up for those times watching him in cartoons where he's only ever allowed to use his claws on robots and such. :P Was nice to see him gradually get to use the claws more viciously in X2 (such as the scene where Stryker and his soldiers storm the Xavier Institute) and so on. :P

I think this is an underrated X-Men film. It didn't make any splashes at the time of release but in comparison to a lot of comic book films today it's actually at a higher tier than that. My only problem is that his love life in the movies is in reverse. He was never in love with Jean. His relationship with her can be summed up by a bit of dialogue Cyclops says in the TAS - "He just mistook her kindness for affection." Mariko, Silver Fox, Lady Deathstrike, they're all loves that happened before he met Jean which makes him flirtatious with Jean but still standoffish due to his past failures with his love life. Instead they flip it in the movies as if Jean was his first love and she is the reason he's more disconnected with women. Not the biggest fan of that. They seem to cuk Cyclops in the movies.

There are a lot more plot holes and inconsistencies in the FoX-verse than in the MCU, but if you want to try to make sense of this end credits scene I've heard people say that Professor X must have had an identical twin brother with the same mutation that looked the same and had the potential for the same powers but who was in a lifelong coma for some reason and that's who the professor transferred his consciousness into at the end of Last Stand.... Wolverine gets the adamantium back in the future... which isn't explained, but, guess it wouldn't be too hard to repeat the procedure on just his claws he already went through it once for his whole body.... they've done the same thing in the comics (back and forth between bone claws and adamantium claws) a few times... actually the first time the bone claws showed up was after Magneto ripped all the adamantium out of Wolverine's body in the Fatal Attractions storyline, nearly killing him, and up to then everyone thought (as was probably originally intended) that the claws were added to his body as part of the Weapon X program, but then he popped the bone claws for the first time and it was a big reveal that they were actually part of his anatomy.
