And while others have been on the streets for many years, some since they were just young teenagers, they say they're seeing increasing violence and fewer places to turn to for help.

In the UK, before the Gulf wars, around 20 years ago. We had a huge problem with British street prostitution, then came all the wars in Iraq and Syria. Mostly Kurdish young men came to the UK as refugees and cleaned the UK streets from prostitutes, taking them as girl friends and wives. While we have many Kurdish women fighting still fighting the wars back home.

They're often driven by poverty e.g a family to support, and drug addiction. Many of them could be child abuse survivors, and with no training for a better job. Also, who mostly pays for this kind of work? Men. That's where the real problem is.

People that do it are faced with clients that may injure or kill them, they are faced with clients that will insist on acts that have not been agreed upon, there are clients that are just plain unhygenic. Not to mention clients with STDs. If you paid women the same rate per hour to clean toilets as to do s3x work, I am betting toilet cleaning would come out tops.
