Paul, Your videos are absolutely wonderful. I found your page on KZbin when I was searching for videos on Ooty just a few days ago. I am particulary interested in videos about India, the Hill Stations especially. You are greatly blessed in being able to travel so extensively, and then to provide such amazingly well produced and narrated videos on where you have been. I am sure I will be spending a great deal of time looking at all the videos you have made, and introducing myself to the people and places you have visited. I could go on and on explaining how impressed I have been. Thank you so much, I look forward to visiting what has become my favourite travel video collection.

Alan Flint Thanks Alan, Indeed I have filmed several Hill stations, Missouri, Shimla, Mt Abu, Munnar, Panchgani, Kodaikanal. Mahabaleshwar, but loved Dalhousie in Himachal. Bishop Caleb there was a good friend, though he is no longer with us. I filmed it but never made a film of it! I just finished Split in Croatia, coming this weekend. You may search under the playlists for India, but my website has many films at Xscion.org. Thanks for your kind comments. Paul

A very good video. Your commentary is excellent. I had been to Ooty two months back and enjoyed the place. I was able to see the steam engine running. Now the steam engine is running between Coonoor and Mattupalyam. I saw the steam engine going in the loco shed. On my asking the railway staff they informed the steam train leave Coonoor at 7.00 am to Mattupalyam planing to make the trip. Once again I thank you for making a wonderful video

I was born and brought up in nilgiri district .(ootty) I can assure you that the number of wild elephants, tigers or bison has not decreased as you said... it's true that deforestation has had huge impact on the eco system. the government and NGO keep telling that the numbers are going down rapidly . but recent surveys have proved otherwise. I worked as a government contractor for a couple of years and travelled through the kallatti ghats roads to ootty at least ones in a week. the foreign funds the NGO 's get is the main reason why they lie about the numbers... in b/w 11 locals were killed by elephants in the past 2 years in and around my village.. you should have visited the tea plantations from the British era..

Outstanding video ! I visited Ooty in 1960. Then , the railway track had three rails . Two the usual and One in the middle like a rack . The engine also had a gear-like toothed wheel , which helped trekking and while it had steep gradient the station were on a level platform going out like a fork . Once the passengers alighted and boarded , the train reversed and resumed journey. Now , it seems due to powerful diesel locomotives corresponding changes have been made. Thanks 4k for your upload . I would like to know if these videos are available for sale .

Hi, a superb video on Ooty aka Udhagamandalam. Thanks. In 20.45 mts, it is stated that it has Narrow Gauge Locos. A correction here. Nilgiri Mountain Railways is the only Mountain Railway in India that runs on a Meter Gauge. For your kind information.
@prsw1006 жыл бұрын
Many thanks, i wonder if we met when i was there? Your staff were excellent and apologies for the mistake, I will place a correction in the description. I have also filmed both the Darjeeling and Kalka Shimla Railwals if you would like to see at xscion.org. Once again many thanks both for the comment and the railway! Paul

No need to apologise, Mr. Paul. Overall, it was a wonderful video. I was overwhelmed and am sure that it will intrigue the non-visitors to drop in at Ooty. I thought of correcting a small mistake. That's it. I feel having missed opportunity of meeting you in person. I am overwhelmed by your lavish praise of my colleagues. Thanks a lot. All the best.
