The guy who portrayed young Mike is actor Sean Nelson. He portrayed the titular character in the 1994 film FRESH. You guys should watch and react to that film. FRESH came out 5 years before THE WOOD. Also, Deaundre Bonds (Stacy) reprised his character in the 2015 film DOPE. You should react to that film as well.

In the opening minutes of the film; when we are back in school; you can hear a Saxophone or a Trumpet playing a trio of notes. It's very relaxed and smooth. When Mike pitches the tent and the teacher tells him to get up in front of the class; the trio of Saxophone notes sounds out again but it's off key and the sounds like the Sax is choking. Love the little details in this film. During my childhood; we had all the movie channels subscribed, so I watched The Sopranos from the first season to the end. When the Sopranos was between seasons; I ended up surfing and found The Wood. I recorded it on VHS and proceeded to wear that tape out until it got eaten. It was around the time my friends and I were going to the school dances and really trying to get laid for the first time. The Wood; American Pie; Can't Hardly Wait and a few more im failing to recall. These films were motivation for all of us; myself flying solo; these used to pump me up to get out there and go find me a dime, so I could turn her world upside down. Ah, The Wood. The memories. Easily in my Top 20 films; all-time..
